Chapter 58: The Princes

“No way!” Mickey was so startled by Ye Tian’s news that he immediately stood up. “Keep your voice down! Are you trying to get me killed faster?” Ye Tian said gloomily. “Don’t worry, this is my house. Nothing will happen,” Mickey replied.

“Why did you tell me all this?” Mickey asked. “No particular reason. You helped me once, so I want to help you in return,” Ye Tian said. “This isn’t just a simple favor!” Mickey sighed. “Actually, isn’t this also an opportunity?”

“What do you mean?” “An opportunity to restore your family’s glory,” Ye Tian said softly. Mickey’s eyes narrowed instantly. He was no fool, nor was he truly someone without desires. The thought of reviving his family had crossed his mind many times.

“I have a feeling the capital is about to change. Only those who seize the moment can carve out a place for themselves,” Ye Tian hinted. Seated in his chair, Mickey rubbed his hands anxiously. “Let me think it over, alright?” Considering the fate of his entire family, Mickey dared not make a hasty decision.

“No matter. It’s no longer my business. Just remember to help my friends leave safely. I’m counting on you,” Ye Tian said, rising to leave.

“Gel!” Mickey grabbed Ye Tian. “Wait, I’ll go get Father Pix.” With that, Mickey hurried out.

Soon after, the two returned in haste. “Young Master Gel!” Pix gasped as he ran in. “Father, sit, please sit,” Ye Tian quickly stood and helped Pix into a chair. “Take it slow,” Ye Tian said, gently smoothing Pix’s breath.

“Young Master Gel, is what you said true?” Pix tightly gripped Ye Tian’s hand, taking a deep breath. “Absolutely,” Ye Tian replied seriously.

“Then what do we need to do?” Pix asked. “Father!” Mickey called, but Pix waved him off, signaling him to remain silent. “I don’t know. I can’t answer that question,” Ye Tian said.

“Why not?” Pix asked. “I don’t know what you’re thinking,” Ye Tian replied earnestly. “Then what do you want?” Pix pressed. “Sincerity, at least let me know what’s on your mind,” Ye Tian said.

“Alright, we’ll show our sincerity. From now on, we’ll follow Young Master Gel’s lead in everything. Even if you want this old man’s life, I’ll give it to you!” Pix declared. “Father!” Mickey cried out.

“How many years has it been since the master passed?” Pix turned sorrowfully to Mickey. “I know you dislike conflict, but the current situation doesn’t allow us to hesitate. If we don’t act, we’ll be devoured. Rather than that, it’s better to take a gamble. If we win, we gain everything. That way, I can face the master in heaven with peace.”

“But…” “No buts,” Pix interrupted. “Young master, listen to this old man just once.” “Alright, I’ll follow your advice,” Mickey said through gritted teeth.

“Good. In that case, let me tell you the rest,” Ye Tian said, leaning in.

“What did you talk about today?” On the way back, Liji asked. “Nothing important. I just asked him to check on a few of my friends,” Ye Tian replied with a smile.

“Hmph.” Liji recalled those four girls and snorted, falling silent. “Liji, what would you do if you left the palace?”

“I won’t leave,” Liji said gloomily.

“Oh.” Ye Tian closed his eyes, letting the carriage carry him into the palace. As soon as he entered, he heard Lola’s voice: “You’re back!”

“What’s wrong?” Ye Tian asked.

“His Majesty has summoned you,” Lola replied.

“Let’s go then,” Ye Tian said, jumping down. “Lead the way.”

“By the way, where did you go?” Lola asked.

“To Mickey’s house,” Ye Tian answered casually.

“Oh.”

Lola led Ye Tian to a study. Inside, two princes and the queen were engaged in a heated argument. When Ye Tian arrived, they instantly fell silent.

“Greetings, Your Majesty,” Ye Tian bowed respectfully.

“No need for formalities,” Charles V said. “By the way, Gel, is Rei Sina’s health improved enough for long journeys?”

“No, I fear the princess would faint before leaving the city,” Ye Tian responded.

“Hmph, aren’t you a doctor? Can’t you think of a solution?” the queen snapped.

“You can’t become fat with one mouthful; it must be gradual,” Ye Tian replied.

“There’s no time!” the queen cried.

“What do you mean, no time?” Ye Tian asked.

“Oh, nothing!” The queen quickly regained her composure.

“How soon at the earliest?”

Ye Tian thought for a moment. “Give me half a month. That should suffice.”

The queen’s face darkened immediately.

“Very well, half a month it is,” Charles V decided. “I want results in half a month.”

“Certainly. After half a month, the princess will be able to move freely,” Ye Tian promised.

“Alright, you’re dismissed,” Charles V waved his hand. Ye Tian bowed and withdrew as the argument resumed inside.

“Let them argue. The more they quarrel, the healthier they get,” Ye Tian sneered.

He went to check on the princess. The girl was awake, lying quietly on the bed, lost in thought, not even noticing Ye Tian’s arrival.

Ye Tian sighed, “Your Highness, you should wear more clothes, lest you catch cold.”

“Will I die?” Rei Sina turned her head blankly.

“Not quite,” Ye Tian rubbed his nose.

“Then let’s continue,” she said, turning away and refusing to look at him.

“Good grief!”

“Is that necessary!” Ye Tian grew a bit annoyed. He couldn’t stand those who sought death over minor troubles—what could be more precious than life?

“Are you angry?” Rei Sina turned, surprised.

“Yes, very, very angry!” Ye Tian pouted. “It’s such a trivial matter. So you don’t want to marry someone you dislike—then don’t marry them.”

“You make it sound so easy,” Rei Sina retorted. “How could I simply not marry if I don’t want to?”

“What’s impossible about it? As long as you try, anything is possible!” Ye Tian’s voice carried a persuasive charm. “I know many wealthy heirs who changed their fate through resistance. It’s actually quite simple—just rebel.”

“I’ve tried. It’s useless,” Rei Sina said, disheartened. “It doesn’t work.”

“I’ll help you,” Ye Tian said.

“You’ll help me? How? Why would you help me?” Rei Sina’s distrust was clear.

“I’ll help you, but you must help me too. For instance, now you just need to cooperate with your treatment and get well. In a month, I guarantee no one will force you to marry someone you dislike. How about it?”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m certain!” Ye Tian replied, resolute.

“Alright, I believe you. I’ll follow your instructions and accept the treatment. You must keep your promise.”

“A promise made is a debt of honor!” Ye Tian modified the phrase slightly so Rei Sina could understand.

“Good!” Rei Sina agreed eagerly. “Kana, Kana, help me dress. I want to eat!”

“I’m coming!” Kana was thrilled to hear the princess ask for food for the first time and hurried over. “Your Highness, what would you like to eat?”

“Anything, whatever is fine,” Rei Sina glanced at Ye Tian. “Anything, whatever is fine.”

“Alright, I’ll bring everything the princess likes!” Kana happily rushed to the kitchen to prepare.

“Remember your promise!” Rei Sina stared intently at Ye Tian.

Ye Tian nodded. “Your Highness, I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave.” He bowed and left. Watching Ye Tian’s retreating figure, Rei Sina’s brows began to furrow.

“Oh, by the way, don’t tell anyone about today, not even Kana. Otherwise, our agreement is void.” Ye Tian appeared before the princess like a specter, startling Rei Sina. “Also, smile more. You’re a lovely girl—frowning all the time spoils your beauty. Bye!” Before the girl could react, Ye Tian had already vanished.

Leaving Rei Sina’s chambers, Ye Tian didn’t see Liji waiting. He wandered off on his own. The palace was vast; after a few turns, Ye Tian got lost. Although there were many guards around, he couldn’t ask them—otherwise, they’d be derelict and risk losing their heads.

“Good grief, not a single maid in sight,” Ye Tian wandered around and saw no maids, so he kept on roaming. Soon, he arrived at a garden and saw people arguing heatedly. Ye Tian stayed away, neither able nor willing to hear them. He turned to leave when one of them stood up and left angrily; Ye Tian recognized him as Second Prince Dilufi, leaving behind Crown Prince Rudy.

“Should I approach that prince first?” Ye Tian stroked his chin, pondering seriously. Perhaps he wished to avoid both princes, but circumstances left him no choice. “It’ll be you, then…”
