Chapter 119: The Queen’s Arrival

Returning to the dormitory, Ye Tian saw a girl sitting cross-legged on his bed, her delicate white feet trembling slightly. If some perverted old man saw this, he would surely risk his life just to catch a glimpse.

“Back already?” the girl asked casually, turning a page in her book.

“Did I come to the wrong room?” Ye Tian asked, puzzled. He stepped out to check, but no, it was definitely his room.

“My dear Miss Arkanara, have you mistaken the room?” he asked politely.

“If I am in the wrong place, then you don’t have to eat,” the girl replied, stretching her feet. Ye Tian followed the direction of her gaze and saw a basket nearby.

“Oh, thanks!” he said.

“You’re welcome. I’m hungry—pour me a cup of black tea first,” she continued, flipping through her book.

“My dear Miss Arkanara, it’s getting late. Shouldn’t you be resting?” Ye Tian respectfully suggested, then filled her teacup.

“What’s the matter, annoyed with me? Fine, I’ll leave,” she said, closing her book and rising to her feet.

“No, no, I was wrong. Take your time and rest. Do you need anything else?” Ye Tian hurriedly offered.

“Hmm, I’m a bit hungry. The food in the basket is cold. How about we go to the cafeteria?” Arkanara suggested.

“Sure!” Ye Tian quickly crouched down to help her slip her feet into her shoes—no way she could put them on by herself.

“What do you want to eat today?” Ye Tian asked, placing the little hawk on his shoulder. Surprisingly, the creature was unusually well-behaved, quiet all afternoon, fluttering its wings gently when taken out of the backpack, then perching calmly on Ye Tian’s shoulder.

“I’ll eat whatever you make,” Arkanara replied. “Are you done with your work?”

“Yes, finished,” Ye Tian said.

“Good, then accompany me shopping tomorrow.”

“Okay, but I have to visit Old Man Ralph.”

“What’s the point? That old geezer is up to something and barely opens his door anymore,” Arkanara said. “Does it have something to do with you?”

“A little. You’ll know tomorrow,” Ye Tian teased.

“Don’t go anywhere tomorrow. I have an important task for you,” Arkanara continued. “I left the clothes in your room. Remember to change into them tomorrow.”

“All right,” Ye Tian agreed, seeing how serious she was. “So, what do you want to eat tonight?”

After happily biting into a chicken leg, Arkanara, with no hint of ladylike manners, licked her fingers, looking utterly adorable.

“Here, this is for you,” Ye Tian said, handing over a handkerchief.

“It’s really pretty. A girl must have given it to you,” Arkanara remarked, not taking it.

“You don’t mind?”

“No, it’s fine. Just wash it clean,” Ye Tian smiled and gently wiped her hands himself.

“Are you satisfied with the meal?”

“Yes, I’ll let you off today, but tomorrow we’ll see!” Arkanara stood up.

“What’s wrong? Did you forget something?”

“No worries, you go ahead and think it over. Let me know when you’re ready,” Ye Tian said, bowing slightly. The girl seemed in a good mood today, not making things difficult. Just feeding her was enough to keep her happy. Ye Tian felt like bowing in gratitude.

“Get up early tomorrow and remember to change your clothes!” Arkanara reminded again.

“Yes, got it!” Ye Tian replied.

After a comfortable night’s sleep, Ye Tian found himself missing the bed after some time away. He placed the little hawk on the windowsill; the little creature liked the night breeze. Holding his roasted meat, Ye Tian slept soundly until dawn.

“Gray, get up! Get up!” Ye Tian was awakened from a drowsy sleep by urgent knocking. Opening the door, he saw an anxious Leila.

“What’s wrong?” Ye Tian yawned.

“Where are your clothes? Why haven’t you changed yet?”

“Clothes? What clothes?” Ye Tian asked oddly.

“The head maid only just told me you’re also receiving guests,” Leila said, pushing him back inside and closing the door.

“Gray, wake up, wash up, and hurry to take a bath!” Leila urged.

“Okay, okay,” Ye Tian mumbled, heading to the bathroom.

“The clothes are here!” Leila looked around and finally spotted a box. Opening it, she saw a neatly arranged outfit.

“Gray, wash thoroughly,” Leila’s words snapped Ye Tian to attention. What was going on? Was she going to steam or boil him? Seeing the slight wrinkles on the clothes, she quickly found the iron in Ye Tian’s room and began pressing them.

“Gray, are you ready?” Leila asked as she worked.

“Almost, almost!” Ye Tian rinsed his mouth with clean water. “Done!”

“Hurry and put it on!” Leila quickly stripped off Ye Tian’s clothes and helped him into the freshly pressed outfit.

“Leila, whoever marries you will be so lucky—they won’t even have to dress themselves!” Ye Tian joked.

“Enough chatter. Let me see… oh, the tie! The tie!” Leila searched the box and found a slender ribbon. “Good thing it’s here; otherwise, it would’ve been trouble!”

“What are we busy with today?” Ye Tian wondered, looking at the luxurious clothes. They seemed custom-made for nobility—the fabric exquisite, the craftsmanship fine. “This looks like a butler’s uniform.”

“Yes, you’re the butler today. Didn’t Miss Arkanara tell you?” Leila said, tying Ye Tian’s tie skillfully.

“She didn’t say a word!” Ye Tian groaned, feeling tricked again.

“Whether she told you or not, today you’re not allowed to make any mistakes, or it’ll be a big problem,” Leila warned seriously.

“You have to be extra careful, got it?”

“Is it really that serious?” Ye Tian asked.

“Of course! You might get hanged if you mess up!” Leila said gravely.

“Who talks like that?”

“The Queen herself is coming to the academy today. The head maid insists we make no mistakes, especially you. Honestly, I’m really worried. Why would they choose you as the Queen’s personal butler when there are professional butlers around?” Leila expressed her concern.

“What? Reissina is coming?” Ye Tian’s jaw dropped.

“Quiet!” Leila suddenly grew tense. “If anyone overhears, they’ll get hanged!”

“I’m speechless!” Ye Tian thought. Reissina was coming, and he was to be her personal butler? This was like stepping on a knife’s edge for no reason! No way was he going to do this job.

“Leila, where’s the head maid? I want to tell her I can’t do this,” Ye Tian said.

“Too late,” Leila sighed. “The Queen has already arrived—probably at the entrance right now.”

Boom! Boom! Boom! The sound of ceremonial cannons echoed.

“Trouble! Hurry!” Leila urged. “No mistakes, remember that!” She grabbed Ye Tian’s hand and rushed out of the dorm.

Outside, Ye Tian noticed crowds of students lined up to welcome the Queen.

“Welcome, Your Majesty!” a plump old man bowed gracefully.

“No need for so much ceremony, Dean Louis,” the Queen said elegantly, extending her hand. The old man kissed it lightly.

“Your Majesty, you’re mistaken. I’m the Vice Dean. The Dean is someone else,” he corrected seriously.

“Apologies for my mistake,” the Queen quickly apologized.

“No need, Your Majesty. I should be apologizing. The Dean should have greeted you, but we haven’t been able to contact him. Honestly, I haven’t seen him in over ten years,” Louis said with a wry smile.

“The Dean is probably in cultivation. At his level, increasing power is difficult. It’s no surprise he avoids worldly affairs,” the Queen nodded.

“Thank you for understanding, Your Majesty. Please come inside.” Louis extended his hand, and a red carpet gently rolled out beneath her feet.

“Your Majesty, please!” he invited.

The Queen walked gracefully along the carpet, surrounded by cheering students.

“Long live the Queen!”

“We love you, Your Majesty! We will always support you!”

The Queen smiled and waved to each person.

“This way, this way!” Leila led Ye Tian to the servants’ line. The head maid glanced at them briefly, then turned to continue welcoming the Queen.

“Your Majesty, this way, please!” the head maid smiled and nodded. “Welcome to the academy.”

“Thank you,” the Queen nodded. “Please, Your Majesty must be tired from the journey and need some rest.”

“Thank you for your efforts!” the Queen nodded slightly. The head maid bowed and led her to the prepared room.

Immediately, guards swarmed around, but the Queen turned and said, “I don’t need you here. Station outside. This place is the safest.”

“But—” a young man hesitated.

“Are my orders not valid?” the Queen smiled faintly.

“No, Your Majesty, my fault. We will camp outside. Please notify me immediately if anything happens,” the young man said.

“Understood. Dismissed.” The Queen turned and left with the head maid. The young man watched her go, then ordered, “Withdraw and monitor the academy closely. No incidents allowed, or you will be held accountable!”

“Yes, sir!” The soldiers responded immediately before leaving and setting up camp nearby.

“Your Majesty, the bathwater is ready. Would you like to bathe?” the head maid respectfully asked in the room. “Also, this is Leila, the personal maid assigned to you. I hope she meets your satisfaction.”

“Thank you,” the Queen replied. “I’d like to bathe now.”

“Right this way, Your Majesty.” Leila gently helped the Queen out of her clothes and wrapped her in a towel. The Queen, slightly weary, entered the bath.

“Gray!” the head maid spoke seriously to Ye Tian outside. “I don’t know why Miss Arkanara insists you be the Queen’s personal butler, but I expect you to do your duty diligently and not disgrace the academy.”

“Yes, I will do my utmost to satisfy Her Majesty,” Ye Tian said seriously.

“That sounds a bit off,” the head maid smiled. “Don’t be so serious. Just be yourself. The Queen is a very easygoing girl. She shouldn’t reject you.”

“One question—weren’t there other butlers?”

“There were, but for some unknown reason, they backed out midway. We had no choice but to find you temporarily. I don’t know the details; you’ll have to ask Miss Arkanara,” the head maid said thoughtfully.

“Understood.” Ye Tian lowered his head and pondered for a moment.

“Any questions?”

“No. I’m determined to complete the task!”

“Good. I believe in you.” The head maid suddenly dropped her serious expression and smiled.

“Actually,” Ye Tian grinned, “you look quite nice when you smile.”

“Hmph, you little brat, trying to take advantage of me!” The head maid playfully patted Ye Tian’s head. “I’ve seen it all.”

“Yes, yes, mighty head maid!” Ye Tian flattered carefully.

“I have to prepare other things now. I’m counting on you,” the head maid said, returning to her poker face and leaving.

“Hopefully, no trouble,” Ye Tian said awkwardly, looking around the room.

The Queen finished her bath comfortably and changed into casual clothes. The long, floor-length gown was too cumbersome—this wasn’t the palace after all.

“Your Majesty, would you like some tea and snacks?” Leila asked respectfully.

“Thank you. The sunlight outside is lovely; I’d like to have tea outdoors,” the Queen replied.

“Very well, Your Majesty.” Leila led her to a small courtyard with a grapevine-covered walkway—a perfect spot for tea.

The Queen sat gracefully as a butler promptly brought her a cup of green liquid.

“What is this?” the Queen sipped and smiled. “Delicious. What kind of tea is this?” She glanced at the butler.

“Long time no see!” Ye Tian said cheerfully.

The Queen nearly choked and sprayed tea everywhere. Ye Tian hastily shielded himself with the tray, but poor Leila nearby got drenched.

“You—you!” the Queen stared at Ye Tian in surprise. He took out a handkerchief to wipe the tea off her hand.

“Leila, aren’t you going to change your clothes?”

“Oh, pardon me, Your Majesty. May I leave for a moment?” Leila bowed.

“Sorry, Miss Leila.”

“It’s fine. I’ll step out briefly. If anything comes up, please ask Gray for help.” Leila saluted and left.

“All right,” Ye Tian gently lowered the Queen’s hand.

“Over half a year has passed, and you’ve grown even thinner.”

“What do you think!” the Queen growled. “Gel, no—Gray! Was I wrong to call you Gel?”

“Reissina, don’t get so worked up. You’re probably not fully recovered yet,” Ye Tian instinctively stepped back as he saw a blazing fire behind the girl.

“Don’t tell me not to get worked up—how else can I be?” Reissina’s eyes blazed as she grabbed the tray beside Ye Tian and swung it at him.

Ye Tian’s screams echoed through the campus.
