Chapter 133: Mutual Suspicion
While the two men and the bird were “immersed” within the Bronze Hall, an oppressive atmosphere hung heavily over the entire Qingsha Mountain range, home to the two great sects: the Wusha Sect and the Ghost King Sect.
The Wusha Sect, in particular, was devastated. The two elders they had dispatched, along with their best disciples, had returned with none of them alive. The losses were severe beyond measure. The one most heartbroken was Wuyun Que. He had finally found a promising disciple, only to see him perish so easily. Each night, he would gaze up at the starry sky, tears glistening on his weathered face, eyes wide with fury, as if challenging the heavens themselves, crying out, “The heavens are unjust to me, unjust…”
Within the Wusha Sect, aside from the sect leader who remained secluded in the mountains, the upper echelons had seemingly suppressed the news to prevent unnecessary panic.
Meanwhile, at the other end, the Ghost King Sect…
A dense, black cloud covered the entire sky above the Ghost King Sect. Amidst the thick gloom, intermittent flashes of dark red light flickered, accompanied by booming thunder. The oppressive weather cast a somber, desolate pall over the mountain peaks and forests. From the shadows of the deep woods came the mournful, hoarse cries of crows.
On one mountain peak, the entire rock formation had been split in two, gaping open at a sharp angle. From the huge fissure poured thick black smoke, and at its base, molten lava glowed a fiery red, bubbling and spurting bright viscous liquid.
The scorching heat emanating from the lava was unbearable; a single drop could inflict excruciating pain on an ordinary person, and even approaching it meant feeling the engulfing blaze on one’s skin.
Yet, at the very bottom of this mountain, the internal chamber was vast enough to hold around a thousand people. But no one dared linger here leisurely.
This natural deadly peril was, paradoxically, the richest repository of resources imaginable.
