Chapter 29: Voluntary Resignation
Someone picked it up and glanced at it, covering their mouth in astonishment—the profits Feng Qin gained were considerable, enough to equal several years’ salary for an ordinary employee. Shen Ling looked calmly at the dumbstruck Feng Qin, her tone cold and severe: “Working under someone like you is utterly without prospects.”
“Today, it’s not you dismissing me—I’m resigning of my own accord!”
She had known since the investment conference that she couldn’t stay any longer. Shen Ling took out her prepared resignation letter and slapped it onto the table, then turned and left.
Feng Qin frantically gathered the papers scattered on the floor, bending over to pick them up while berating the staff, “What are you looking at? Get back to work!”
At the top floor of Changyue Group’s president’s office, Bo Jinhan studied the project proposal in his hands. After a moment of hesitation, he summoned his assistant, Cheng Li.
“Call them. I need to coordinate the project details with the person in charge from the partner company.”
Business was the fastest way to see her.
Cheng Li handled it within two minutes, then reported meticulously, “Their manager, Feng Qin, will be here shortly.”
Bo Jinhan’s brows furrowed slightly. “Isn’t the person in charge Shen Ling?”
Cheng Li replied immediately, “Officially, it’s said Miss Shen was forced to resign due to poor performance.”
“But in truth, it’s because Miss Shen left voluntarily after disagreements with the company.”
His ability to remain here was no accident—he was thorough and highly efficient.
Bo Jinhan’s fingers tapped the desk absently as he pondered. Then he looked up and said, “Tell them the partnership is terminated. They needn’t come.”
After a pause, his expression remained impassive as he ordered, “Find out where Shen Ling is living.”
A few minutes later, Bo Jinhan had Shen Ling’s address in hand.
He drove to her residence as directed. He had assumed that, without her job, Shen Ling would be dispirited and downcast. Yet, as soon as he stepped out at the street corner, he caught sight of her at a café just around the bend—a familiar silhouette.
Shen Ling and a man sat facing each other, two steaming cups of coffee and a pile of documents between them. The last rays of the setting sun poured through the bright glass windows, illuminating her smiling face, making her appear dazzling and radiant.
The man chatting easily with her was Xu Shengye.
A tightness seized Bo Jinhan’s chest. With a grim face, he walked inside. Xu Shengye was praising Shen Ling, “With your extensive experience, you’ll shine wherever you go. I’ve found some materials for you—you can study them in detail.”
Shen Ling’s tone was light and cheerful, “With your endorsement, I feel much more at ease.”
As she spoke, her gaze drifted upward, and when she saw Bo Jinhan, her smile froze. Xu Shengye noticed the change immediately and turned to follow her line of sight.
Seeing Bo Jinhan, alarm bells sounded in Xu Shengye’s mind. He stood up, blocking the passage, and eyed Bo Jinhan warily, “What do you want?”
Bo Jinhan halted, impeded, and cast him a threatening glance. “Move aside.”
Xu Shengye stood firm, not yielding an inch. “I won’t let you hurt Shen Ling.”
Both men radiated formidable presence, locked in a standoff, neither giving ground. The tension was palpable.
Though Bo Jinhan could keep his composure, the icy edge in his voice made clear he was close to erupting.
“This is between her and me. It has nothing to do with you.”
