Chapter 139 Ouyang Chen Takes Responsibility for Her
An intensifying wave of discomfort swept over Zhang Xiroluo. Hearing Lu Tiantian’s words, she knew whatever came next would be far worse. Reason told her to remain calm and figure out who was behind this.
"You'll find out soon enough. Hurry up. Get it done quickly, and then get out with me," Lu Tiantian sneered. "Old woman, tell me now, are you scared?"
Zhang Xiroluo bit her lip in silence. Lu Tiantian wanted to see her terrified and hear her beg for mercy, but she refused to give her the satisfaction.
"If you kneel and beg me right now, I might let you go."
"Heh, you don't have the guts. You're just someone else's pawn, so stop putting on an act." Zhang Xiroluo deliberately provoked Lu Tiantian, hoping that anger would make her slip and reveal the truth.
But this time, Lu Tiantian managed to hold back.
Zhang Xiroluo waited for a long time, but heard nothing from Lu Tiantian. Instead, everyone in the room left, and the surrounding silence became terrifyingly heavy. She could hear the frantic pounding of her heart and the rushing of her boiling blood...
A moment later, the door was pushed open, and Ouyang Chen’s voice rang out, "Zhang Xiroluo!"
"Ouyang Chen!" Zhang Xiroluo cried out. Remembering what Lu Tiantian had just said, she quickly reacted, "Hurry up and leave! Don't mind me, this is a trap!"
She had been drugged with an aphrodisiac, and Ouyang Chen had appeared at this exact time—Lu Tiantian and Li Minglei meant for her and Ouyang Chen to couple here!
The person Lu Tiantian had mentioned was actually Ouyang Chen.
No, absolutely not!
"You're coming with me." Ouyang Chen’s voice was laced with anger as he hurried to her side, pulled off her blindfold, and untied the ropes behind her.
Bang!
The heavy door slammed shut, and the distinct sound of a lock clicking echoed through the room, making Zhang Xiroluo’s heart sink to the bottom.
The drug was taking full effect, leaving her limbs weak and burning with fever. Yet Ouyang Chen’s proximity brought a trace of coolness, making her desperately want to hold him. In her eyes, Ouyang Chen looked like an oasis in a desert, the very fountain of life to quench her unbearable thirst.
This was only the second time she had looked at him this closely; his features carried a newfound resolve, and his eyes held a hint of deep affection. Though she felt no romantic love for him, she was still so mesmerized that she swallowed hard.
So this was what being drugged felt like...
It was as if a fire was raging inside her body, desperate to erupt, while her thoughts, consciousness, and actions slipped entirely beyond her control.
"Ouyang Chen, stay away from me! I've been given a drug." Zhang Xiroluo breathed heavily, fine beads of sweat dotting her forehead, as she used the last shred of her reason to inch backward.
"Don't be afraid. I'll get you out of here." Ouyang Chen’s brows furrowed tightly as he turned toward the door and began kicking it with all his might.
The rhythmic, booming impacts echoed through the empty room, drawing her gaze to the door. Ouyang Chen’s tall figure and his strenuous efforts morphed, in Zhang Xiroluo’s blurred vision, into a series of distorted, restricted-access images.
She couldn't take it anymore; she was going crazy!
Zhang Xiroluo closed her eyes and began to rationalize: she was single, and Ouyang Chen was single too... Ouyang Chen probably wouldn't mind, and if worse came to worst, she would take responsibility...
The dam of desire cracked open, and the floodwaters rushed forth. Zhang Xiroluo scrambled off the bed and dashed toward Ouyang Chen.
"Luoluo?" Ouyang Chen was startled, stopping his assault on the door to turn and look at her. "You..."
Without a word, Zhang Xiroluo pressed herself tightly against him, only to find that he was burning up just like her, his every exhalation matching hers in heat.
"Ouyang Chen, did they... you too?"
Ouyang Chen pushed her away slightly and nodded. "I had dinner with Mu Peipei before I came here."
So his kicking at the door was an attempt to vent the heat in another way!
His gaze grew increasingly clouded, and his face twisted with the pain of restraint. Zhang Xiroluo stood frozen in place, unable to believe that Mu Peipei had a hand in this as well.
Suddenly, she was swept up into Ouyang Chen’s arms. She didn't resist as he carried her back to the bed.
The moment their bodies touched, all reason was swallowed by raw desire. Turning the tables, she pinned Ouyang Chen beneath her, frantically tearing at their clothes.
It seemed that these actions were the only way to soothe the agony...
The window suddenly shattered. Amidst the clatter of falling glass, a tall figure vaulted into the room. Zhang Xiroluo’s hands froze mid-tear, and she raised her head to look.
"Zhang!"
Li Mingye’s voice cut off the instant he saw Zhang Xiroluo. Locking eyes with her, his fury blazed. "What the hell are you two doing?!"
The heat in Zhang Xiroluo’s eyes instantly receded. Panicked, she scrambled to adjust her clothes and slid off Ouyang Chen. One after another, figures climbed through the window, Mu Peipei among them.
Zhang’s father quickly pulled off his coat, rushed over to Zhang Xiroluo, and wrapped her tightly within it. There were no reproaches, only profound heartbreak. He pulled her into his arms, shielding her from the gaze of the others.
Li Mingye lunged forward, jerked Ouyang Chen up from the bed, and dealt him a vicious punch. Ouyang Chen didn't fight back, and Li Mingye struck him again, splitting the corner of his mouth and drawing blood.
"Li Mingye, why are you hitting people? Didn't we come here to look at the land? Come to think of it, we're the ones who ruined their fun, so why are you throwing punches?" Mu Peipei stepped forward to intervene, accompanied by Zhao Chengyi, who reached out to steady Ouyang Chen.
"Brother Li, there has to be some misunderstanding." Zhao Chengyi glanced at Ouyang Chen. "Ouyang, explain yourself."
"What's there to explain? Mutual affection, to each their own," Mu Peipei said with a smile, her eyebrows arching as she savored Zhang Xiroluo’s predicament. "Zhang Xiroluo, if you wanted to play in the wild, you should have picked a better spot. Your father was already planning to sell this abandoned factory to us anyway."
Zhang Xiroluo felt as though her heart were burning. Clenching her teeth against the misery, she forced out, "The deal hasn't been closed, so it's still ours. Get out."
"Get out, right now." Suppressing his fury, Zhang’s father glared daggers at Li Mingye. "Li Mingye, if you still have an ounce of humanity, get them out of here."
Blazing with anger, Li Mingye’s gaze swept to Zhang Xiroluo’s pale face, his brows drawing into a deeper knot. Turning away, he strode to the door and shoved it, but it wouldn't budge.
He threw his weight against the iron door, crashing into it with increasing force.
"Damn it!" Enraged, Li Mingye delivered a powerful kick that warped the metal frame. Zhao Chengyi stepped in to help pry the door open, and Li Mingye strode out without looking back.
Mu Peipei whipped out her phone to take a picture, but Ouyang Chen snatched it from her hand and smashed it to the floor. The murderous look in his eyes startled Mu Peipei. "Get lost! Don't force me to hit a woman."
Reluctantly, Mu Peipei retreated. Ouyang Chen clenched his fists, the corners of his mouth curving up in a barely perceptible smile. "Uncle, today's affair was a trap. We were both drugged, but I will take responsibility for Luoluo."
"What kind of fucking responsibility are you taking?" Li Mingye re-entered as abruptly as he had left, rushing up to Ouyang Chen and grabbing him by the collar. Once again, Ouyang Chen offered no resistance.
"Luoluo, are you willing to let me take responsibility?"
"She is not!" Li Mingye swung his fist, knocking Ouyang Chen to the floor. "Even if she were, I wouldn't allow it!"
"You're already divorced. You have no right to interfere with her choice. Let her speak for herself!"
A splitting headache overwhelmed Zhang Xiroluo, her ears ringing violently before she collapsed into her father's arms...
