Chapter 120: Stay Still, It Will Be Over Soon
Li Mingye brought Zhang Xiluo back to his villa.
"Get out of the car and go inside to treat your wounds." Li Mingye was already standing outside her door, looking at her as he opened it. "Do you need me to carry you?"
Zhang Xiluo shook her head immediately. "No, thank you. Didn't I tell you to take me to Milan International?"
"There are maids here to help you with your wounds. If you go to Milan International, I would have to do it myself."
What Li Mingye said seemed reasonable enough; she couldn't find a reason to argue, yet she still didn't want to stay at his villa.
"Let's just go to the hospital. Doctors are more reliable than the housekeepers." Zhang Xiluo remained in the car and instructed Xiao Zhao to drive to a nearby hospital. That way, she wouldn't have to worry about being seen with Li Mingye, and she could still get her wounds treated.
It was the perfect solution.
"Get out. If you keep stalling, it'll be dawn." Li Mingye frowned, his expression darkening visibly. Seeing that Zhang Xiluo wouldn't move, he reached in and pulled her out himself.
Zhang Xiluo was in pain and didn't dare to struggle too hard. In the blink of an eye, he had carried her into the villa.
"Xiao Zhao, whatever happened tonight, my parents must not know," she said, feeling helpless and forced to instruct him to keep it a secret.
Li Mingye carried her into the bedroom and laid her gently on the bed. He furrowed his brows as he looked at her. "Zhang Xiluo, do you have a death wish? Running off to a place like that to throw your life away!"
"Take off your coat," Li Mingye commanded coldly.
Zhang Xiluo shook her head, clutching the buttons of her jacket. "Let the housekeepers help me. You can leave, thank you."
"You have only two choices: you take it off, or I do." Li Mingye had already locked the bedroom door and retrieved a medical kit from the cabinet. "I’m going to wash my hands. If you try to run, I won't mind calling my former father-in-law."
That jerk was threatening her!
She stared at the locked door, her heart heavy with complex emotions. The jerk always kept his word; if she left, he would definitely cause her trouble. If her parents found out, they would only be worried and heartbroken.
She wondered how Li Mingye had even appeared there. She had only notified Jiang Xueting, asking her to find a way to locate Xu Xinyi and to call the police in the meantime. Li Mingye should have still been at the Sinius banquet; how could he have appeared on the suburban road? Could he have rushed over specifically to save her?
Zhang Xiluo's heart skipped a beat. Uncontrollably, she looked toward the bathroom just as Li Mingye emerged.
He had taken off his suit jacket and rolled up his shirt sleeves, revealing his forearms. This casual look made him even more captivating. Zhang Xiluo’s feelings about Li Mingye did not cloud her objective assessment of his appearance—he was truly handsome. From every aspect and every angle, he was practically perfect.
"Still not taking it off? Do you want me to do it for you?" Li Mingye looked at her with dissatisfaction and walked toward her.
A chill swept through her. Zhang Xiluo took a deep breath and removed her coat.
Underneath, she wore only a sweater, which was torn in several places at the back. Her skin beneath the rips was also scraped raw, the wounds stained with blood and dirt.
Li Mingye poured iodine into a container, put on gloves, and picked up a cotton ball with tweezers, soaking it thoroughly. "Turn around."
"I can do it myself."
"Fine, go ahead." Li Mingye’s lips curled upward, and he held the tweezers out to her.
Zhang Xiluo’s wounds were on her back and legs; she couldn't see them at all. She had only said that because she didn't want Li Mingye to help her.
"Heh," Zhang Xiluo sneered. This jerk was doing it on purpose. "Where are your housekeepers? Are they all asleep?"
"Yes."
"You do it, then. Sorry for the trouble." Zhang Xiluo’s tone was distant, deliberately keeping her guard up. Since she was already here, there was no point in being coy.
Li Mingye was unhappy, his gaze darkening. He used scissors to cut away the ruined fabric of her clothes. Her body shuddered slightly, but she didn't stop him.
Li Mingye used the cotton balls to wipe her wounds. His movements were light and gentle, carefully clearing away the sand and dirt.
*Hiss.*
Zhang Xiluo gasped in pain. The wounds on her back were dense, caused by the friction against the rocks and gravel on the ground. Though there wasn't much blood, it stung terribly.
Li Mingye’s frown deepened. He went through a pile of cotton balls, covering nearly her entire back with antiseptic.
"Zhang Xiluo, if you really don't want to live, just give your life to me." He spoke with fury, his eyes filled with heartache, even though his words were cold and biting.
Who said she didn't want to live? She cherished her life more than anyone. Besides, even if she didn't, why should she give her life to him? In her past life, she had already lost a life because of him.
"I didn't," Zhang Xiluo denied firmly. "By the way, why were you there? What about Xu Xinyi? And those two people?"
"You still have the leisure to care about others? Zhang Xiluo, what is inside that head of yours?" Li Mingye switched to a fresh bottle of iodine and continued to disinfect her.
"If you won't tell me, I'll ask myself." After saying this, she reached into her jacket pocket to look for her phone. "Where is my phone? Did I lose it?"
"I have it," Li Mingye said calmly, then briefly explained, "Xu Xinyi is working overtime at the hospital. Your car and phone were lost. One of those two men escaped, and they are currently looking for him."
"And then?"
"That's all." After saying this, Li Mingye fell silent.
Zhang Xiluo’s memories were a bit blurry, and she wasn't quite sure what had happened. Seeing Li Mingye like this, she knew he wouldn't tell her anything more. She would just have to ask Jiang Xueting and Xu Xinyi later.
After treating the wounds on her back, Li Mingye brought her a dress to change into while he went to the bathroom to wash his hands. This dress had also been bought with Li Mingye’s money. At the time, she had kept pestering him, asking if the dress looked pretty. Li Mingye hadn't responded at all; from beginning to end, it had been a one-woman show, with her using her own methods to move and hypnotize herself.
She had gained a little weight, and the dress fit her perfectly now, looking much better than it had before. After putting it on, she took off her torn trousers. Glancing back, she saw the wounds on her legs were a bit better than those on her back.
When Li Mingye came out, he froze for a moment before realizing what was happening. He put his gloves back on to treat the wounds on her legs.
Zhang Xiluo was lying on the bed, the hem of the dress pulled up just below her hips. When the cotton ball touched her skin, she couldn't help but blush.
"Maybe... maybe we should stop," Zhang Xiluo said, shifting as she tried to sit up.
"Don't move." Li Mingye’s voice had changed; he seemed to be suppressing something, his Adam’s apple bobbing. "It will be quick."
The atmosphere grew increasingly ambiguous. Zhang Xiluo felt more and more strange inside. Ignoring Li Mingye’s protest, she forced herself to sit up.
"It's fine, it doesn't hurt," she said, her face flushed and her ears burning.
It had been over three years since she had been intimate, and Li Mingye’s physique and techniques were so superb. With her lying on the bed in that position while he applied medicine bit by bit, she couldn't take it.
Li Mingye looked at her, his eyes sparkling with a flicker of light, and the corners of his mouth lifted involuntarily.
"Mm. All done."
"Thank you."
Zhang Xiluo got up and walked toward the closet, took out a set of her own clothes, and went into the bathroom.
When she came out after changing, she accidentally bumped into the doorframe, losing her balance. Li Mingye rushed over to catch her, but she ended up falling onto him. She pressed against his body, and in the momentum of the fall, she accidentally tugged his shirt open...
