Jiang Yingnan let out a derisive laugh, clearly not believing a word of Du Zhiye’s nonsense.

Du Zhiye hadn’t expected him to believe her anyway. She merely wanted to get on familiar terms with Jiang Yingnan, then wait for another chance to sleep with him. Next time, though, she would make sure it was at night—and she would insist he spent the night.

That way, when Jiang Yingnan was asleep, she could, without anyone the wiser, snap a photo of the two of them together after their tryst.

The two of them sat in silence, each lost in their own thoughts, as the car made its way downtown. Jiang Yingnan parked by the curb in the city center.

He turned to Du Zhiye and said, “Get out.”

Du Zhiye was caught off guard. She blinked, not quite reacting in time.

Jiang Yingnan’s impatience showed as he furrowed his brow. “You can get a cab here.”

Du Zhiye understood: he was kicking her out. She licked her lips, grinned cheekily, and said, “Second Young Master, let’s add each other on WeChat!”

Jiang Yingnan gave another short laugh, squinting at her. He’d seen plenty of forward women, but few with the brazen shamelessness of Du Zhiye.

He said nothing, only looked at her with a half-smile that was almost mocking, making Du Zhiye feel a bit awkward.

But since she hadn’t achieved her aim, she was determined to push through, no matter how embarrassing it might be.

“Don’t tell me you got your fill after one night.”

Her words were so blunt that even a man like Jiang Yingnan had to think twice before responding.

Jiang Yingnan stroked his chin. Was he satisfied after just one night? Perhaps another go wouldn’t be so bad.

He reached for his phone, pulled up his QR code, and said, “Don’t message me unless it’s important.”

His tone was harsh—a warning. He disliked women, and detested those who flirted for no reason. If it weren’t for the fact that Du Zhiye was Tao Ranming’s fiancée, he would never have agreed to add her on WeChat.

Du Zhiye could hear the contempt and disdain in his voice, but since she needed something from him, she could only swallow it. She smiled as she added him on WeChat, and as she got out of the car, blew him a theatrical kiss. Only when she saw his expression darken did she withdraw her hand, slightly disappointed.

...

After dropping off Du Zhiye, Jiang Yingnan drove back to the company.

There was a meeting that afternoon about new energy research. By the time it ended, it was already six in the evening.

As Jiang Yingnan left the meeting room, Xu Hao caught up to him. “Tao Ranming’s woman tried to seduce you!”

He’d seen it clearly at the bar yesterday—Tao Ranming’s fiancée had all but thrown herself at Jiang Yingnan.

Sometimes, when he thought about it, it didn’t sit well with him. Handsome men really did get as much attention as beautiful women.

He was good-looking himself, and came from a wealthy family. Plenty of girls pursued him, but none quite like Du Zhiye.

He remembered Du Zhiye’s long, fair legs and the way she hooked her foot at him, and felt a sudden heat in his gut.

Many women had tried to seduce him, and they were all beautiful, but none had stirred him just by memory alone.

Jiang Yingnan said, “You saw it yourself.”

The two of them had gone to the bar for drinks together the night before. Midway through, Xu Hao had spotted a beautiful woman and gone over to chat her up. Who would have guessed that the moment he left, a real stunner would appear?

Thinking about it now, he felt a pang of regret. If he hadn’t left, maybe Du Zhiye would have come after him instead.

“I saw you two leave together. Did you sleep with her?”

Jiang Yingnan answered carelessly, “Yeah.”

Xu Hao was stunned. Jiang Yingnan wasn’t like the rest of them; from a young age, he’d never liked women—he was practically immune.

Whenever a pretty woman tried to talk to him, he’d just look at her coldly until she retreated. Only then would his expression soften.

“I thought you didn’t like women who make the first move?”

Jiang Yingnan glanced at Xu Hao and replied indifferently, “She’s different.”
