Mrs. Huang acted swiftly, arranging a meeting with the Wan family’s daughter the very next day.

At noon, the two families met at the most luxurious Marriott Hotel in the northern part of the city.

The Wan family’s daughter was named Wan Yi, a name chosen for its resemblance to the phrase “one in ten thousand.” Throughout the matchmaking meeting, Wan Yi carried herself with grace. She sat quietly, never initiating conversation, but whenever Mrs. Huang asked her something, she responded with poise and confidence.

Such a demeanor greatly pleased Mrs. Huang.

After leaving the Marriott, Mrs. Huang asked Jiang Yingnan, “What do you think of Miss Wan?”

Jiang Yingnan glanced at Mrs. Huang and replied coolly, “As long as you’re satisfied.”

Mrs. Huang furrowed her brow. “If you don’t like her, I can arrange for you to meet another girl. Or…”

Jiang Yingnan’s patience wore thin. “That won’t be necessary.”

On the way home, Mrs. Wan and Wan Yi vented their feelings. “That Jiang boy seems fine, but he’s far too cold,” Mrs. Wan remarked.

Wan Yi smiled shyly, “Mom, I don’t like men who talk too much.”

Seeing her daughter’s bashful expression, Mrs. Wan affectionately tapped her nose. Though she wasn’t pleased with Jiang Yingnan, since her daughter liked him, she could only let things be.

...

News of the Jiang and Wan families’ alliance spread quickly throughout the northern city. Those within the social circle marveled at the powerful union of the two families, and couldn’t help but sympathize with the Du family.

Upon hearing the news, Du Xin cried at home.

She truly liked Jiang Yingnan.

But she was a clever woman, not one to be blinded by love. Realizing there was no longer a chance with Jiang Yingnan, she discussed matters with Yan Xiufang and used this opportunity to have Du Qi arrange a position for her at First Love Magazine.

Du Zhiye also heard the news, but she was quite happy about it.

The guilt of stealing someone else’s boyfriend was, after all, lesser than stealing her own sister’s boyfriend.

However, seeing Du Xin in the office made Du Zhiye feel uneasy.

Their last fight in the office had earned her a lengthy scolding from Du Qi.

Fortunately, Du Xin didn’t make trouble for her. Whenever she saw Du Zhiye, she simply raised her head high.

Du Zhiye, not one to provoke conflict, found their coexistence at the company relatively peaceful.

On Friday, Du Zhiye left work early. She lay in wait at the Jiang Corporation’s parking lot, hoping for a chance encounter with Jiang Yingnan.

Her persistence paid off. After half an hour, she saw him walking from afar.

Du Zhiye immediately perked up, approaching him energetically and waving, “Second Young Master, what a coincidence!”

Jiang Yingnan glanced at her indifferently, his words cutting, “It’s not a coincidence, Miss Du. This is my family’s parking lot.”

Du Zhiye wasn’t embarrassed. She walked over to keep pace with him. “Yes, I came here specifically to wait for you.”

She looked at Jiang Yingnan with a plaintive gaze. “You blocked me on WeChat, the receptionist won’t let me in, so I had no choice but to wait for you in the parking lot.”

Jiang Yingnan didn’t even spare her a glance. He walked straight to his car, but when he reached for the door, Du Zhiye grabbed his hand, looking at him with pitiful eyes, “Second Young Master, I truly missed you.”

Jiang Yingnan ground his teeth, coldly shaking off her hand. His tone was sharp, “Miss Du, please have some self-respect.”

Du Zhiye bit her lip, tears glistening in her eyes as she looked at him, “Can I take back what I said that day?”

Jiang Yingnan ignored her, signaling with his eyes for her to step aside.

Yet Du Zhiye was undeterred, gazing at him with a look of helplessness, “Second Young Master, I like you. I want to be with you.”

Her words made Jiang Yingnan laugh in anger. “Miss Du, if you’re ill, you should see a doctor.”

“Love-sickness. Only you can cure it.” Du Zhiye, unfazed, reached out to tug at his sleeve, “Second Young Master, let’s make up!”
