After hanging up, Jiang Yingnan sat in the car for a while before driving to Memories of Jiangnan. When he arrived, Du Xin had already ordered the food—all his favorites. In this respect, Du Xin had always been attentive, and it was one of the reasons he was willing to continue seeing her for a while longer.

...

At that same moment, in an upscale club, Wen Xiyao naturally took a seat beside Du Zhiye. Seeing him, Du Zhiye waved with a smile. “You’re here.”

Wen Xiyao smiled and nodded, glancing at the drink in front of her. “How many glasses have you had?”

Du Zhiye held up two slender fingers. “This is my second.”

“They have a cocktail here that’s especially good,” Wen Xiyao said. “Would you like to try it?”

Du Zhiye’s smile was radiant. “I’d love to!”

Wen Xiyao called over a waiter and ordered a cocktail for Du Zhiye. When he returned, he said to her, “This cocktail isn’t strong; it’s just right for a lady.”

The words “for a lady” made Du Zhiye even happier.

“Last time, a friend gave me two tickets to a concert,” Wen Xiyao said. “No one around me really appreciates that kind of thing, so it’d be a shame to waste them.”

Du Zhiye looked at him and asked, “You must sing well, right?”

Wen Xiyao raised an eyebrow. “Why do you say that?”

“If you didn’t know anything about music, your friend wouldn’t have given you the tickets,” Du Zhiye replied.

Wen Xiyao laughed, fine lines appearing at the corners of his eyes, adding to his masculine charm. “I used to have a band with some friends.”

Du Zhiye was a little surprised. “You played rock music?”

Wen Xiyao’s smile deepened. “I was the guitarist.”

“That’s impressive,” Du Zhiye said in admiration.

Wen Xiyao gave her a doting look, raising his eyebrow slightly. “Is that all it takes to impress you?”

...

Halfway through dinner with Du Xin, Jiang Yingnan’s phone vibrated—it was a WeChat message from Xu Hao. It wasn’t anything important, just a photo. Jiang Yingnan frowned slightly and was about to put his phone away when Xu Hao sent another message.

“I know why you don’t like Wen Xiyao.”

Jiang Yingnan glanced at it, then indifferently put his phone away.

Du Xin noticed the change in his expression and asked with concern, “Is something wrong?”

Jiang Yingnan lifted his eyelids. “No.” Realizing his tone was a bit off, he paused and added, “I’ll take you home after dinner.”

Du Xin smiled happily and, with the serving chopsticks, placed more food on his plate. The last few times they’d met, Jiang Yingnan hadn’t taken her home, which had made Yan Xiufang quite anxious.

She was worried Du Xin wouldn’t be able to win him over.

...

Du Zhiye stayed at the club until late into the night. Wen Xiyao offered to drive her home, but she refused. She hadn’t drunk much, and at least for now, her mind was clear and her body obeyed her commands.

She had just reached her car when Feng Bing came running after her, flinging an arm around her and resting her head on her shoulder, pouting. “I’m sleeping at your place tonight.”

Du Zhiye smiled indulgently. “Alright.”

She called a designated driver, and soon the car pulled up to her apartment building. Du Zhiye’s apartment had a room set aside for Feng Bing, reserved just for her.

After showering and blow-drying her hair, Du Zhiye lay in bed. She hadn’t fallen asleep yet when Feng Bing appeared, slipped under her covers, and wrapped her arms around her, whispering her name softly. “Du Zhiye.”

Du Zhiye was a little taken aback; Feng Bing was unusually clingy tonight.

“Yes?”

Feng Bing snuggled closer, her head resting on Du Zhiye’s arm. “Wen Xiyao likes you.”

Du Zhiye wasn’t surprised. “I know.”
