Du Zhiye nodded eagerly, her beautiful phoenix eyes shining as she looked at Jiang Yingnan. That expectant little expression of hers tugged at the heart, irresistible and alluring.

Jiang Yingnan licked his molars, his voice low and hoarse. "Come again tonight."

Hearing this, Du Zhiye was delighted. She knew that there was no such thing as a cat that didn’t steal fish in this world. "Alright."

She straightened up, took the lunchbox, and walked away in high spirits.

After leaving Jiang Corporation, Du Zhiye headed to the mall. Having mingled in the fashion circle for so many years, she knew exactly what clothes looked good and what looked terrible. The only reason she wore such flamboyant attire today was to please a handsome man. And, it seemed, it worked quite well.

She bought a black long dress at the mall, then went to the beauty salon for a full-body treatment. By the time she left, it was already four in the afternoon.

Du Zhiye thought for a moment and took a taxi to Reminiscent Jiangnan on Nanning Road. She ordered several delicious dishes there and carried them back to Jiang Corporation.

Jiang Yingnan must have given instructions; the receptionist saw her and immediately activated the elevator. Du Zhiye had been here once in the morning, so she was now familiar with the place. However, she never expected to find Du Xin in Jiang Yingnan’s office.

Du Zhiye was stunned at first, then anger flooded her.

She felt Jiang Yingnan was too despicable, too cruel. He had invited her, then invited Du Xin as well. Wasn’t this blatantly making a fool of her and putting her in an awkward position? Du Xin was his matchmaking prospect—so what did that make Du Zhiye? A fling? A mistress? Or just a toy for his idle amusement?

"Sis, what are you doing here?" Du Xin was shocked, her elegant brows slightly furrowed, glancing warily at Du Zhiye, whose expression looked even worse than hers.

Du Zhiye was the sort who made a fuss over small matters but never hesitated with the big ones. In just a few seconds, she made up her mind. As the saying goes, a person leaves their name, a goose leaves its call. Even if she had to risk her life, Du Zhiye would not lose face. So what if she lived another month? She didn’t want it. She was done playing their games.

Taking a few deep breaths to suppress her anger, Du Zhiye forced a smile, her lips curling lazily. "I took a wrong turn."

With that, she swaggered out.

Du Xin didn’t believe a single word.

She turned to Jiang Yingnan, seeking answers from his expression, but his face betrayed nothing, not even a ripple.

Du Xin’s eyes flickered, and she asked casually, "You know my sister?"

Jiang Yingnan looked at her, his tone flat and devoid of emotion. "Didn’t she say she took a wrong turn?"

Du Xin and Jiang Yingnan stared at each other for a few seconds, then Du Xin laughed. She pointed to her own head. "My sister’s mind isn’t always reliable."

She kept her gaze fixed on Jiang Yingnan, refusing to believe Du Zhiye had simply made a mistake. There was only one possibility: Du Zhiye and Jiang Yingnan knew each other. Her words were merely probing Jiang Yingnan’s attitude toward Du Zhiye.

But Jiang Yingnan disappointed her again. He glanced indifferently at Du Xin and then shifted the conversation to work.

Du Zhiye left Jiang Corporation and took a taxi back to her apartment. She had made up her mind—death was nothing to be afraid of. Whether she lived another month or died in four days, it was all the same. She had slept with her man, tasted the pleasure, and had no regrets.

Back at the apartment, Du Zhiye took a dozen beers from the fridge, opened the dishes she’d ordered from Reminiscent Jiangnan, and ate alone, thoroughly enjoying herself.

She no longer had to worry about her figure; she could eat as much as she wanted.

But as she ate, tears began to fall.

From the moment she learned Tao Ranming had cheated on her, her life had veered off course.
