Chapter 151: Gaia Spacetime’s First Transformation
With his arm encased in a heavy cast, Yue Longze soon raced back to the disaster zone from the previous day.
The temporary tents still snapped and billowed in the fierce wind. Steam continued to rise slowly from the white pot of relief porridge, and a bowl containing only half a serving of plain rice porridge still sat on the table.
Yet the place was completely deserted. There was not the slightest trace of the Three-Hairs fellow.
“It seems everyone has already withdrawn to a safer area...”
There was nothing Yue Longze could do about it. He turned back and continued gazing at the hideous giant beast, his brows drawing together once more.
“This presence... Why...?”
His brows nearly twisted into a knot.
This was clearly the Gaia universe he had entered by accident. Why, then, did this monster that had emerged from beneath the earth possess a presence so familiar to him?
“Damn...”
Yue Longze rubbed his temples. “Why do I keep running into such troublesome problems?”
With his doubts unresolved, Yue Longze began watching the battle between XIG and the rampaging subterranean monster in the deserted disaster zone.
“Come to think of it... Has Gamu joined XIG now?”
He gazed at the fighter jets wheeling through the sky and wondered to himself.
...
After following the uniformed man to XIG’s aerial base yesterday, Gamu had indeed joined XIG and taken up the position of scientific analyst.
“Whoosh!”
As Yue Longze was thinking, Gamu descended to the ground in the distance, transformed into a warm beam of light, and once again became the Giant of Light—Gaia!
Beneath the blue sky and white clouds, his milky-white eyes shone brightly. His blue core energy device radiated a blue glow, while his red-and-silver body appeared even more imposing and extraordinary.
...
“Ha!”
Gaia made his entrance in the same distinctive manner as before. The instant he appeared, a vast cloud of dust surged up around him.
“Can’t he change that entrance just once...?”
Yue Longze’s body shook along with the ground. “That’s practically an earthquake...”
Still, Yue Longze felt relieved. Monsters in the early stages were generally rather weak, little more than easy targets for gaining experience. He trusted Gamu to deal with this one.
...
After yesterday’s battle, Gamu was clearly much more practiced at transforming today.
...
“Roar!”
The subterranean monster Gil opened its enormous jaws. As a reptilian creature, it caught Gaia off guard and clamped down on his right foot.
Gaia cried out in pain, then kicked Gil away with his left leg.
Meanwhile, Yue Longze actually lit a cigarette and leisurely watched the battle between Gaia and the subterranean monster, continuing to ponder whose presence it was that he sensed in the creature.
“Whatever the case, hurry up and finish off this damn monster...”
But the course of the battle was far beyond Yue Longze’s expectations.
The subterranean monster was ferocious. To his surprise, it was faintly gaining the upper hand against Gaia.
“Beep... beep...!”
After taking repeated attacks, the energy timer on Gaia’s chest began flashing.
“Raaagh!”
Amid its furious roar, the subterranean monster Gil swung its powerful rear tail and struck Ultraman Gaia.
“Boom!”
The attack sent Gaia crashing to the ground once again.
At the same time, the XIG fighter jets circling overhead launched supporting attacks from the flanks, hoping to relieve some of the pressure on Gaia.
Seeing this, Yue Longze raised his brows, his calm expression finally changing.
“This monster isn’t as weak as I thought!”
Gaia—in other words, Gamu—had been forced into a bitter struggle.
Gamu searched constantly for an opening, hoping to unleash his finishing move and end the battle in one strike.
At last, his patience was rewarded. Seizing an opening, he crossed his hands into the shape of a T and began gathering energy. His left fist rested against the joint of his right wrist, while his right arm formed an L.
A blazing red beam—the Quantum Stream—shot out and struck the subterranean monster Gil in an instant!
“Boom!”
Violent explosions erupted one after another, and smoke rapidly filled the air.
...
Yue Longze tossed away the cigarette, nearly burned to ash, and his expression suddenly grew solemn.
Through the dense smoke, he saw the monster still standing, its vitality undiminished.
The energy timer on Gaia’s chest was now flashing even more rapidly, and scarcely any combat power remained.
Gamu panted heavily. He had never imagined that the monster’s body would be so incredibly tough.
A profound sense of helplessness suddenly welled up within him. Gaia was the light born from the will of the Earth...
“And I have betrayed your hopes... Earth!”
As he watched the monster charge toward him once more, its heavy footsteps rapid and thunderous, Gamu could not help feeling defeated.
...
“Gamu is actually going to lose? Has this universe been affected by my interference again?”
Remembering the familiar presence emanating from the monster, Yue Longze hesitated for a moment. Then he gritted his teeth and swiftly drew the Dark Divine Light Rod from his clothes, transforming.
“Whoosh!”
In an instant, light flowed around Yue Longze’s body and energy surged through him. He transformed into a purple sphere of light that flew toward the battlefield where the monster and Gamu were fighting.
The moment the purple sphere reached the battlefield, it solidified further, transforming into a giant identical in form to Gaia!
“What is that?”
Everyone in XIG was stunned. The people on the ground were equally shocked.
“Another giant!”
“Has he come to help the red giant?”
...
Black patterns dominated his body, which possessed perfectly proportioned lines and powerful, explosive musculature.
He had the same milky-white eyes and sharp head, as well as the same full blue energy timer on his chest.
“Boom!”
With a wave of his hand, Yue Longze released a wave of light that temporarily drove the charging monster back several yards.
He sensed the condition of his body and immediately understood that this was undoubtedly the weakest state he had ever experienced.
It was even worse than the condition he had been in during his very first transformation!
“In this state... I’m actually weaker than Gaia in his early days!”
But this was clearly not the time to dwell on comparisons.
Yue Longze strode forward and helped the weakened Gamu to his feet.
Gamu stared blankly at the black Ultraman before him.
“So there are other Ultramen?”
He was stunned for only a brief moment before rising to his feet.
The crisis was still unfolding. There was no time to relax!
The two giants nodded to each other, then turned together to face the powerful monster.
Yue Longze clenched his fists. In a one-on-one fight, given his current condition, he was no match for this beast.
His physical attributes had fallen drastically, and the strength of his energy was likewise far below its former level.
And Gamu...
Yue Longze glanced inconspicuously at Gamu beside him, whose steps were unsteady, and secretly shook his head. Even if Gamu fought with everything he had, he could probably unleash his finishing move only one more time.
Perhaps Agul was still an option?
But Hiroya Fujimiya’s habit of appearing and disappearing without a trace had left far too deep an impression on Yue Longze.
Besides, at this early stage, it was still uncertain whether Fujimiya had even obtained Agul’s light.
“I’ll still have to rely on myself!”
