Chapter 141: Yuelong City Guard
Feeling the gaze of the surrounding patrons, Yue Longze rubbed his head in mild embarrassment, flashing a bashful smile that made him appear completely harmless.
Yue Longze patted his distended belly with satisfaction, clearly pleased with his meal.
After he had sat idly in the sushi shop for a while longer, the three punkish youths rushed back in a frantic hurry. Yue Longze watched as three mobile, glowing lightbulbs burst into the shop with a loud clatter.
"Boss! We're back!"
"You... could it be?"
Yue Longze was momentarily stunned. The three guys before him had actually shaved their heads completely bald, not leaving a single strand of hair.
It wasn't just Yue Longze who was surprised; the other customers in the shop were equally taken aback. They cast strange, bewildered looks at Yue Longze—who had his arm in a cast and had been eating with such ferocious intensity—and the three youths who, until recently, had sported long, dyed hair. In the eyes of everyone present, Yue Longze and his companions had undoubtedly devolved into "weirdos."
Three shiny, round heads stood in a neat row, reflecting the light of the sushi shop with a stark, white glare.
"Boss, we got rid of our hair!" one of the bald men said with a sense of pride.
If one were to judge solely by their faces, Yue Longze could no longer distinguish who was who. Previously, their hair had covered most of their faces, and he had always identified them by their hair color. Now, he could only rely on their clothing to tell them apart.
"You must be... Yellow-Hair, right?" Yue Longze said, feeling a bit uncertain.
The bald man nodded. Immediately, another bald man in a loud, floral shirt stepped forward, bowing and scraping, "Boss, are you satisfied with your meal? If—"
Before the man could finish, Yue Longze cut him off. "I'm full, but I can't really tell who you are anymore..."
The three bald men froze, then straightened their chests and stood in a row with practiced synchronization.
"I'm Red-Hair!"
"I'm Yellow-Hair!"
"I'm Green-Hair!"
The trio announced their identities in perfect unison, their voices so loud that everyone in the sushi shop—and even the onlookers gathered at the entrance—could hear them clearly.
"They look like three idiots to me..." someone muttered.
"Yeah, I think so too!"
Even with Yue Longze’s thick skin, he couldn't handle the bizarre stares of so many people. He waved his hand, and the three shimmering bald heads trotted obediently after him as he walked out of the shop.
The three men followed Yue Longze faithfully to a secluded area. Yue Longze glanced around nervously, and only after confirming they were alone did he let out a sigh of relief. He didn't want to be looked at like an idiot ever again!
"Ahem."
Yue Longze made a fist and coughed into it, putting on a show.
The three bald men immediately understood; the Boss was about to speak! They quickly snapped into a row, standing at attention with a military posture that couldn't have been more standard.
"I told you to get rid of your hair, but I didn't tell you to shave it all off!" Yue Longze was truly speechless. Looking at them felt like staring at three glowing incandescent lightbulbs standing right in front of him.
The trio looked troubled; making hair shorter was easy, but growing it back was a hassle.
Of course, Yue Longze understood this logic, so he let the matter drop. He stood with his hands behind his back and studied the three of them closely until he felt he could tell them apart.
"Green-Hair!"
"Present!"
"Step forward!"
"As the leader of Yellow-Hair and Red-Hair, you must set a good example! Do you understand?"
"Understood!"
Yue Longze had genuinely decided to take these three under his wing; these dim-witted fellows were actually quite amusing, and they were like different people compared to the arrogant thugs he had first encountered.
"From now on, you must drop your old habits! Become noble-minded people who are useful to society! Do you hear me?"
"Yes!"
As Yue Longze spoke, he felt a sense of amusement. Weren't these the very words his teachers used to drill into him during his student days? And now, he was using them to discipline these three idiotic youths!
The three bald men shouted their responses in unison, their voices echoing loudly.
"From this moment on, you three are the subordinates of me—Yue Longze! You should be proud! You should feel honored!" Yue Longze kept a straight, serious face, though he was laughing hysterically on the inside.
Back in the day, Zero created the Ultimate Force Zero. Today, I, Yue Longze, create the Yue Long City Guard!
On his first night in this strange dimension, Yue Longze not only enjoyed his first full meal but also acquired three dim-witted subordinates. Fate was truly mysterious!
After the lecture, the three glowing bald heads eagerly asked when he would teach them "real kung fu." Yue Longze shook his head, telling them that they must first establish good moral character before he could teach them anything they might call "kung fu." The trio listened, looking completely bewildered.
Suddenly, on a whim, Yue Longze gave them another beating!
The three were left confused and aggrieved, tears welling up in their eyes.
"I did this so you understand the gap between us, and to ensure you never harbor any thoughts of rebellion! But—after this beating, you are officially my subordinates! From now on, we’ll eat well and live well! As long as I have a bite to eat, you’ll have your share!"
Yue Longze’s approach was highly effective. It made the trio realize they were no match for him, which only made them more respectful. His final words moved them to tears.
"The Boss is so kind..."
The night deepened, and the breeze turned cold. Upon learning that the three simpletons lived together, Yue Longze immediately and righteously declared that he would move in with them to "supervise their moral cultivation."
"Red-Hair, pour me a glass of water!"
"Green-Hair, hurry up and take my foot-washing water away!"
"Yellow-Hair, go squeeze some toothpaste for me!"
Yue Longze sat comfortably in their home, unceremoniously ordering them around. And the three of them—Red, Yellow, and Green—served him diligently. In their eyes, serving their Boss was their duty. Having never been bullied by others before, they had been thoroughly tamed by Yue Longze’s thrashing that night. They yearned to possess the extraordinary skills of their Boss; if they did, they would surely become the masters of the underworld!
Yue Longze was well aware of their thoughts. He couldn't have subordinates with corrupt morals! He was determined to start improving their moral character from tomorrow. Since they were the "City Guard," he would take them out to properly "guard" the city and temper their conduct.
After all, he really didn't know what to do at the moment, nor did he understand this strange dimension. It was better to educate his three subordinates while he let his injuries heal. Then, he would find a way to restore his power!
In short, Yue Longze remained optimistic. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Sometimes, it’s best to just let things take their natural course.
