Chapter 124: Mastering the Specium Ray
Naturally, Kiryuu Zeze intended to try to comprehend it, but he felt such a valuable treasure was best shared among all. So he invited Zero and Mebius to join him in the attempt, hoping they too could learn the Specium Ray.
From Kiryuu Zeze’s memory, neither Mebius nor Zero possessed the Specium Ray skill. Yet, both of them shook their heads in unison with a tacit understanding.
"Specium matter of this size can only be comprehended by one warrior," Zero explained.
A warmth blossomed in Kiryuu Zeze’s heart; he understood this was their way of looking out for him. Any Ultraman who had yet to master the Specium Ray would be tempted upon encountering Specium matter. Who wouldn’t want to wield another powerful finishing beam?
There was absolutely no downside. Although Kiryuu Zeze had discovered the Specium matter first, their willingness to persuade him to absorb the Specium Ray showed how much Zero and Mebius cared.
He longed to master this formidable skill. Though it was not as potent as his own Zaperio Ray, it remained a commonly used finishing technique. Moreover, he was severely lacking in beam abilities.
Without hesitation, he calmed his mind and tightly grasped the unassuming piece of Specium matter, beginning to attune himself to it. Zero and Mebius stood silently on either side, their gazes fixed on him.
As time passed, Kiryuu Zeze’s milky-white eyes flickered, sometimes radiating a sharp glow, at other moments emitting a terrifying brilliance.
“It looks like he’s going to make it,” Mebius whispered, a hint of joy in his voice.
Zero, arms crossed, said nothing, but the faint yellow gleam in his eyes revealed his happiness for Kiryuu Zeze.
Suddenly, Kiryuu Zeze moved, bowing slightly. With a fierce shout, he crossed his wrists sharply, and a white, terrifying beam shot rapidly from the intersection of his hands.
Specium Ray!
A distant sand dune was struck, collapsing with a thunderous crash as dust billowed into the air.
Watching his very first Specium Ray beam in life, Kiryuu Zeze slowly lowered his crossed arms and straightened up, excitement shining through his milky-white eyes.
“I did it! Zero! Mebius!”
He spun swiftly to face them, his excitement palpable. If in human form, his face would surely be alight with joy, rich in expression.
“Zeze, can you calm down a bit? You don’t look worthy of that solemn black figure you wear when you’re like this,” Zero said lightly, maintaining his usual cool demeanor in Mebius’s presence.
At his words, Kiryuu Zeze immediately suppressed his excitement. Zero was right—he had to honor the solemnity of Dark Tiga’s form.
If Kamillasu were awake to see him now, she’d surely say the same!
The piece of Specium matter in his hand had turned to ash the moment he comprehended the Specium Ray.
“Well then, let me test this beam out on some real targets!” Kiryuu Zeze was eager to find a genuine monster or a Dark Lopas to test the true power of the Specium Ray.
Though he knew the ordinary Specium Ray’s power was inferior to his Zaperio Ray, he wanted to try nonetheless.
Zero and Mebius, of course, understood Kiryuu Zeze’s thoughts instantly. The three took off at once, seeking new prey.
Flying through the vast cosmos, Kiryuu Zeze reviewed his current techniques and skills:
The Dark Zaperio Ray.
The Zaperio Ray amplified by Kamillasu’s golden power.
The newly mastered Specium Ray.
Energy sword.
The well-dragon sword style, sword drawing technique, and ghost step.
And the cosmic fist technique learned from Ultraman Leo.
At present, however, his clustered cloud sword suppressed the Rebrando alien inside him, making the sword drawing technique unusable.
When he fought the god Kirielod, Kamillasu had expended tremendous energy and no one knew when she might awaken again.
Thus, Kiryuu Zeze could not currently borrow Kamillasu’s golden power.
“Sigh, I really envy that guy Zero… such a powerhouse…” Kiryuu Zeze glanced at Zero, who was concentrating on flying beside him.
Soon, they located a group of mass-produced Dark Lopas—over ten units in total!
“Just seeing those Dark Lopas makes me angry!” Zero shouted as he drew his ice axe and charged first, the clanging battle cries erupting instantly.
He truly despised these mass-produced copies of his own Dark Lopas.
“Zero, don’t chop too fast… save some for me!” Kiryuu Zeze laughed and quickly joined the fray, eager to try his freshly acquired Specium Ray.
Zero, the strongest among them, single-handedly took down five mass-produced Dark Lopas.
Next was Kiryuu Zeze. In his dark form, his martial arts prowess rivaled the peak strength of the Ultra Brothers, so handling three units alone was no problem.
Mebius, in his current state, easily dealt with two mass-produced Dark Lopas.
Facing three mass-produced Dark Lopas, Kiryuu Zeze finally unleashed the Specium Ray he had just mastered.
Before, he had only fired it once at a Martian sand dune, but this real battle felt far more genuine.
A mass-produced Dark Lopas exploded upon impact.
Through this combat, Kiryuu Zeze truly experienced the power of his Specium Ray. Its strength was indeed less than the Zaperio Ray, but it conserved energy, making it a practical beam skill.
Watching the bloated, balloon-like explosion of a Dark Lopas, Kiryuu Zeze nodded with satisfaction.
Though his martial arts prowess already surpassed the Ultra Brothers, including Leo, in his dark form his energy was not abundant, lacking the richness of veteran Ultraman like Ultra Seven.
Now with this energy-saving Specium Ray, it was truly a timely blessing.
After subduing two more mass-produced Dark Lopas with his formidable martial arts, Kiryuu Zeze fired another Specium Ray, igniting one in flames and causing it to explode.
Yet a lingering doubt gnawed at him. In his dark form, energy shouldn’t be so scarce.
He recalled the surge of pure dark energy that had suddenly erupted from within during his battle with Kirielod.
He suspected that energy might hold the essence of darkness itself.
He wondered if, by grasping that essence, the energy in his dark form would become far richer.
Such richness might even surpass the brilliance granted by the plasma spark tower’s light form.
