Volume One, Chapter 97: Calling for Reinforcements?
Land of Light.
Since the last battle, Taro had become silent and withdrawn. Even during the routine meetings, he lost his former vitality and was unusually melancholy.
No one knew what he was thinking, and no one could converse with him—not even the Ultra Brothers. Only his wife could quietly enter late at night and comfort him with a few gentle words.
Yet by morning, Taro would act as if nothing had happened.
Father of Ultra was deeply troubled by this. With the universe in a tense state, Taro’s behavior was far from what was expected of a leader.
“Is he still waiting at the Plasma Spark Tower?” A gentle voice came from behind, warm as a spring breeze reaching the heart.
Father of Ultra’s tense features relaxed somewhat as he turned to face his beloved—Mother of Ultra.
He nodded slightly, then sighed deeply: “Do you think I’m being too impatient?”
“Letting him temporarily lead the Land of Light—the pressure seems to have far exceeded what he can bear.”
“Why do you think so?” Mother of Ultra shook her head with a smile and walked up to him. “We’ve witnessed Taro’s efforts over the years. Do you really believe he’s an unfit leader?”
Father of Ultra fell silent, his gaze growing distant.
Indeed, since his abdication, Taro had performed exceptionally well. But past excellence could not excuse a leader’s shortcomings. If he could not withstand even a minor setback, how could he lead the Land of Light?
Clearly, Taro still needed tempering—deep within his heart.
“By the way, what’s the latest movement from the Plasma Galaxy?” Father of Ultra steered the conversation elsewhere.
“The situation is not optimistic.” Mother of Ultra’s expression grew grave. “According to intelligence just relayed by Ribut, it seems that all the races across the universe are converging on the Plasma Galaxy.”
“Obviously, they intend to crown a new emperor, just as the Dark Nebula did.”
At the mention of the Dark Nebula, a deep dread flickered in Father of Ultra’s eyes.
Truthfully, he harbored a secret about the Dark Nebula—a secret personally entrusted to him by King of Ultra, who had ordered that it never be revealed. Over the years, he had faithfully kept his promise, not confiding even a fraction to his wife, with whom he shared the deepest bond.
That secret affected far too wide an area. Should an accident occur, not just this universe, but all races across the grand cosmos might be swept into chaos.
Suppressing the turmoil in his heart, Father of Ultra spoke slowly: “As far as I know, the Plasma Galaxy currently has three new kings.”
“One is Barrelu, from the Baltan race.”
“The second is Garum of the Guts race.”
“And third, Magna from the Magma race—all three are genuine cosmic-level powerhouses.”
Mother of Ultra was silent for several seconds, then uncertainly said, “I heard from Zoffy that Andro dug up some news. It seems the three new kings are somehow connected to Tregear.”
“Tregear?”
The name made Father of Ultra frown deeply.
“In that case, could Taro’s gloom also be related to him?”
They knew about Tregear’s recent mischief in the universe, controlling the Ultra Dark Killer. It was after that battle that Taro became the way he was now.
“It’s certainly possible.” Mother of Ultra said in a serious tone, “You know Taro’s feelings for Tregear—only Tregear could bring him so low.”
She added softly, “Those two really remind me of you and Belial in the past.”
Father of Ultra: “……”
“The one who tied the knot must untie it.” Mother of Ultra proposed, “Perhaps let Taro seek out Tregear once more.”
Father of Ultra paused, lowering his head in thought.
Back when Tregear defected, he strictly forbade Taro from participating, worried his private feelings would interfere. Later, when Tregear vanished, Taro was briefly troubled but soon returned to normal, seemingly unaffected.
He’d assumed time would heal Taro’s wounds. But now, it appeared not only had they not faded, but those emotions had been deeply buried in his heart.
And is that not a quality an Ultra Warrior ought to possess?
Finally, Father of Ultra lifted his gaze, staring into the distance, each word heavy: “Let him go. You’re right. If he can never overcome his inner turmoil, he can never truly mature.”
…
“Where’s Dyna? Hand over Ultraman Dyna!”
King of the Kirielode seemed to have descended into madness. It was understandable—he was the last of his kind, and his mental state was on the verge of collapse.
But as a result, the innocent Earthlings suffered most.
The most excited, however, were the aliens. They wished for Earth to explode as soon as possible; were it not for their fear of King Kirielode’s power, they would have unleashed their monster weapons to give humanity a taste of their might.
Whizzing sounds cut through the air as four fighter jets arrived at the scene.
But their missiles, barely launched, were crushed mid-air by the overwhelming aura of King Kirielode.
A force that humans could neither comprehend nor resist.
Only the Ultra Warriors could stand a chance.
But the Ultra Warriors…
“Yuki, let’s go!” Watching as King Kirielode wreaked havoc, Taiga could barely contain himself.
But after the recent battle, Yuki seemed injured and was too weak to transform.
“What do we do? How could such a powerful foe appear!” Fuma was nearly frantic.
He had finally found his companions, only to face such a dire crisis.
“Should we call for backup?” The muscle-bound Titus seemed unusually clever. “This alien’s power is on a whole different level. Even if the three of us could manifest corporeally, we still might not be a match.”
Taiga considered it and saw reason in his words.
Most importantly, if this alien continued unchecked, many lives would be lost.
Taiga did not dare to hesitate and immediately sent an Ultra signal into the sky.
To summon help as quickly as possible, he didn’t specify anyone—the signal was open, visible to all Ultra Warriors.
He expected it would take some time, but to his surprise, his signal had barely been sent when a dimensional wall appeared overhead.
A silver-shining Ultra Warrior emerged, flying out and kicking King Kirielode hundreds of meters away.
