Torekia followed Bata to the Wooden Star’s scientific research facility.

The air was thick with the pungent scent of chemical fluids, making him involuntarily furrow his brows. Compared to the research environment of the Land of Light, this place was utterly dreadful. Yet Torekia’s gaze was swiftly drawn to the enormous device behind the laboratory’s glass wall.

The Ultra-Spatial Device!

As soon as Bata arrived, all the Wooden Star people in the lab immediately set aside their tasks, bent at the waist, and respectfully called out, “Lord Bata.”

Bata nodded slowly, glanced at Torekia, and spoke, “From now on, this Ultra Warrior will work with you. Squeeze every last ounce out of him, understand?”

“Understood!” The Wooden Star people replied in loud, unified voices, their eyes gleaming with malice as they looked at Torekia.

The Ultra Clan was famed throughout the universe; everyone knew of them, and many bore grudges. Over the ages, countless Wooden Star people had died at the hands of the Ultra Clan. Now, with the chance to torment a legendary Ultra Warrior, they would do so eagerly, even without Bata’s reminder.

Facing their cruel stares, Torekia remained remarkably calm. Even as they discussed how best to torment him...

Bata couldn’t help but glance at Torekia again, but said nothing more, turning to leave.

Ultra Warriors were the common enemy of the Wooden Star and other races across the universe. Even if Torekia died, Bata would feel no regret.

Hardly had Bata left when a Wooden Star person, apparently the leader of the laboratory, barked, “Hey, Ultra Warrior! Go over there and pour out those liquids.”

“Yes!” Torekia dared not disobey. He obediently walked to the corner, lifted the buckets filled with unknown liquids with a carrying pole, and headed outside.

His compliance stunned the Wooden Star people for a moment, but soon they burst into laughter.

“I thought Ultra Warriors were supposed to be tough, but look at this one!”

“Probably scared witless by Lord Bata, ahahaha!”

“Well, of course. Lord Bata is so powerful—even the Emperor would kneel and lick his toes. A mere Ultra Warrior stands no chance.”

“Keep your voice down. If the Emperor hears, even the capital won’t save you!”

“What’s to fear? This is the Wooden Star, not the Dark Galaxy. Why worry?”

Their mocking laughter echoed as Torekia silently left the lab, poured the liquid into a cesspit as directed by two guards, and returned. Though the ridicule continued, the Wooden Star people had resumed their work, losing interest in further torment.

Torekia stood quietly in place, secretly memorizing every corner, device, and purpose of the laboratory.

Three days later... Torekia was assigned to the warehouse, unloading all manner of scientific materials.

Half a month later... After a chance suggestion, Torekia earned the praise of the lab’s chief and was promoted to assistant.

Two months later... Torekia became a member of the team assembling the Ultra-Spatial Device.

Six months later... Torekia was officially recognized as one of the researchers developing the Ultra-Spatial Device.

All of this was witnessed by Bata and the King of the Wooden Star.

“The Blue Clan’s Ultra Warrior truly is a genius in science. Our Ultra-Spatial Device, stalled for centuries, has made breakthrough progress with his data in just half a year. Bata, you have rendered a great service.”

“Thank you for your praise, Your Majesty,” Bata replied humbly, though his heart brimmed with joy.

The sight made several Wooden Star ministers nearby gnash their teeth in envy, wishing they were the ones praised. But what could they do? Torekia was brought back by Bata, so all they could do was envy him.

Gradually, Torekia’s reputation grew across the Wooden Star. Many even forgot he was an Ultra Warrior.

While the Wooden Star people gossiped, our protagonist was busy tinkering beneath the Ultra-Spatial Device.

“Torekia, it’s late. Aren’t you going to sleep?” the lab chief called from behind.

Torekia stiffened briefly, then calmly replied, “There’s a mismatched screw here. I’ll tighten it and head back soon.”

“Alright then.” The Wooden Star person yawned and left, unconcerned.

“Still a fool,” Torekia sneered coldly, continuing his work.

Now, he had developed a tool to open the wristband—just a press of a button was enough. But such a move would surely alert the Wooden Star people, who would then hunt him down. If, however, he used the Ultra-Spatial Device to attract their attention, he could successfully escape.

...

Wooden Star time: 2:03 AM.

A sudden explosion jolted all the Wooden Star people from their sleep.

When they rushed out, they saw only flames—and within the blaze, a spatial black hole expanding ever larger.

“What happened!” came a furious roar from deep within the palace.

Within seconds, Bata and the Wooden Star’s strongest arrived at the laboratory. Staring at the destroyed Ultra-Spatial Device and the growing black hole, their fury was palpable, shouting over and over, “Who did this?”

Despite their rage, their priority was to evacuate the populace and find a way to close the black hole.

Suddenly, a terrifying pressure descended like the collapse of heaven.

Boom!

The spatial fissure immediately stopped growing, compressed by an invisible force until it vanished.

All the Wooden Star people knelt as one, crying, “Long live our king!”

“It was that Ultra Warrior’s doing!” The thunderous voice of the king spread across the entire Wooden Star. “Kill him!”

“Yes!”

The Wooden Star people split into teams, searching in all directions.

Torekia, who had just escaped the planet, heard the king’s voice, his face darkening as if shrouded by storm clouds.

From the explosion to now, barely ten minutes had passed. Only a star-level master could seal a spatial rift so quickly.

Star-level—by definition, a being capable of wielding stellar energy.

“Damn it!” Torekia cursed under his breath, suddenly accelerating.

He’d thought the spatial rift would throw the Wooden Star people into chaos, but never expected their king to be a star-level power.

If he didn’t escape this star system soon, the consequences would be dire.

“Found you, Torekia!” came a furious roar from behind—Bata.

With the Ultra-Spatial Device destroyed and the king in a rage, if Bata couldn’t return with Torekia’s head, his fate would be worse than death.
