Volume One, Chapter 147: d60
Planet D60, in the Draco constellation.
This was a planet brimming with peace. Every person who lived here possessed a pure nature and a kind heart filled with wonderful aspirations for the future.
Entrusted with the protection of this planet were the legendary Phantom Beast Fighters.
Because of this, D60 was renowned throughout the entire universe.
The martial arts practiced by the Phantom Beast Fighters were known as the number one martial art in the universe: the Cosmic Phantom Beast Fist.
When practitioners of this martial art reached a certain level of mastery and mental state, they could forge a pact with the Cosmic Phantom Beasts, thereby acquiring their immense powers.
Every year, the Phantom Beast Fighters would invite martial artists from all across the universe to D60 for martial arts exchanges.
Among the most famous visitors were the clan of Flame Warriors from planet L77 in the constellation Leo.
The Flame Warriors practiced a cosmic martial art whose profound mysteries were second only to the supreme Cosmic Phantom Beast Fist.
Through years of friendly exchanges, planet L77 and planet D60 had forged an unbreakable bond, widely known in the world as brother planets.
Today happened to be the day when the prince of the Flame Warrior clan from planet L77, Ultraman Leo, had come for a sparring and exchange session.
Early in the morning, the Phantom Beast Fighters hurried to the training grounds to welcome Leo and engage in matches with him.
The first to take the stage was Feng Buchui, a Phantom Beast Fighter who had forged a pact with the Cosmic Phantom Beast Crane and mastered the Soaring Astonishing Crane Fist.
Clad in white robes and appearing rather slender, Feng Buchui gave off the impression of a scholarly intellectual.
However, he was one of the few grandmasters on planet D60, and his strength was not to be underestimated.
Serving as the referee was another grandmaster-level figure.
In stark contrast to Feng Buchui, he wore a set of black robes with a stern expression and restrained presence. A cold gleam flashed within his slightly narrowed tiger-like eyes, radiating an unforced, imposing majesty.
His name was Wang Xiao.
"Begin!"
At Wang Xiao's command, the sparring match officially commenced.
Feng Buchui took the initiative, rushing toward Leo. Every single strike and movement carried the momentum of a howling gale, appearing fiercely sharp and relentless.
Yet, Leo effortlessly neutralized every attack and launched a counteroffensive.
After just a few exchanges, Feng Buchui was struck in the chest, marking his defeat and the end of the bout.
"The victor has been decided!" Wang Xiao immediately announced the outcome.
"You're up next. Please guide me!" Leo smiled slightly, his gaze burning like a torch.
Feng Buchui slowly stepped down, and another warrior, with skin as red as Leo's, walked forward.
He stood tall and straight with a resolute face and sharply defined facial features. Within his crimson eyes burned a fighting spirit akin to raging flames.
"Is that you, Regulos?" Leo nodded in acknowledgement and casually asked, "How is it? Have you made any progress lately?"
"Of course I have," Regulos replied, making a traditional martial artist's gesture of respect and chuckling softly. "Why don't you test it out yourself, Leo!"
"Today, I am definitely going to win!"
Prior to this, he had already lost to Leo fifteen times.
"Then come on!" Leo assumed his fighting stance, looking thoroughly eager.
"Begin!"
At Wang Xiao's command, Regulos rushed forward and delivered a flying kick.
Leo sidestepped slightly to evade the blow, and while dodging, his right arm lashed out fiercely, striking Regulos in the chest and sending him stumbling back several steps.
"Damn it!" Regulos cursed under his breath, picking himself up to resume combat with Leo. However, after only a few moves, he was kicked flying once again, tumbling across the ground several times before managing to halt his momentum.
"The victor has been decided!" Wang Xiao's voice rang out at the appropriate moment.
"Sigh, I lost again." Regulos stood up with a depressed expression, wailing, "Including this one, that's sixteen times I've lost!"
"Don't look at it that way," Leo walked over to him, smiling gently. "Your strength has indeed improved. What you lack is mental fortitude, and your emotional self-control is still not sufficient."
"Emotional self-control?" Regulos wore a puzzled expression, failing to grasp the meaning behind those words.
Leo, however, merely offered a carefree smile. "Haha, actually, I'm still far from it myself, which is why I often get criticized."
"Your strength has reached an even higher level, Leo."
At that moment, a steady voice suddenly echoed.
Upon hearing this voice, everyone present, including the most senior Wang Xiao, experienced a slight shift in their expressions.
"Master Leito!"
They turned around to look at the approaching elderly man, their faces filled with deep respect.
Just as Leo wanted to walk over and pay his respects as a junior, a phantom-like figure suddenly materialized right in front of him.
This figure appeared with such abruptness that Leo had no time to react at all.
"Who goes there!" Wang Xiao shouted sternly, instantly flashing in front of Leito to shield him behind his back.
Feng Buchui, Linglan, and Lou Yuan, who stood nearby, also immediately revealed vigilant expressions and closed ranks around Wang Xiao.
Meanwhile, behind their protective barrier, Master Leito's calm and gentle eyes were suddenly churned by towering waves of shock.
For even though that person was standing right there, Leito's perception detected absolute emptiness.
And then there was the way the adversary had appeared.
It looked like spatial teleportation, yet it had not triggered any spatial ripples whatsoever.
In other words, the intruder had relied on an unimaginable, supreme velocity to arrive here in an instant.
Even he had failed to sense the slightest trace of it.
What terrified him even more, however, were the intruder's eyes.
Those dark red, blood-hued eyes seemed to harbor boundless demonic light, fathomless as an abyss. When they swept a glance over the group, it felt like an ancient demon god opening its eyes, bearing down upon them with a majestic, overwhelming pressure.
Under the tense gazes of everyone present, the mysterious figure finally spoke, fixing his dark red eyes directly upon Leito, his deep voice resounding thunderously: "You must be the strongest Cosmic Phantom Beast Fighter, Master Leito. Tell me, how does one communicate with the Phantom Beasts?"
Hearing that the intruder had come for the Cosmic Phantom Beast Fist, Wang Xiao's expression instantly darkened as he said coldly, "An unknown vagrant dares to covet the Cosmic Phantom Beast Fist!"
Tregear gave him a faint glance, and it was precisely this single glance that made Master Leito utterly lose his composure, prompting him to roar in alarm: "Get back!"
Before the first syllable had even left his lips, Master Leito had already reached out, grabbed Wang Xiao by the collar, and violently hurled him backward.
Yet by the time his final syllable dropped, Wang Xiao had already been thrown dozens of meters away, a testament to Master Leito's immense physical strength.
At this moment, however, no one was awed by his strength.
Because within their field of vision, a pitch-black fracture was rapidly spreading across the exact spot where Wang Xiao had stood just a moment ago.
Crack—
With a soft snap, that segment of space abruptly collapsed, exposing a bottomless, dark vacuum before vanishing in a fleeting instant.
Although the shattered space lasted for only a split second, the aura of death surging from within caused everyone's complexions to shift drastically.
The sent-flying Wang Xiao broke out in a cold sweat, his heart gripped by terror, and he cast a grateful look toward Master Leito.
Had it not been for Master Leito's intervention, he would likely have been pulverized into dust right along with that fragment of space.
Regaining a shred of composure, Wang Xiao stood up on weak legs and demanded once more, "Who are you!"
Tregear ignored him, his eyes remaining locked entirely on Master Leito.
Leo and Regulos stood by, dumbfounded. Never in their wildest dreams had they imagined that such a terrifying powerhouse would appear on D60.
Especially that technique the stranger had just displayed; it had completely overawed them.
After all, that was Instructor Wang Xiao!
