Volume 1, Chapter 142: Return to Borges
"Impossible!"
Her Trigger was still right here; how could she ever be willing to leave?
"Carmeara." At that moment, Trigger stepped forward and looked at her, saying, "You must have been truly happy when you were with Trigger in the past, right?"
He had seen the past, and he had witnessed how warm Carmeara's smile had been back then.
And the very meaning of his existence was to make everyone bloom with a smile.
Among them, Carmeara was included!
"Shut your mouth!" Trigger's words stirred up the deep-seated hatred within Carmeara once again. "It's all because of you! If it weren't for you, Trigger would never have left me! This is all your fault, Kengo Manaka!"
"You're wrong!" Trigger shook his head, saying earnestly, "I am both the light and a human."
"Likewise, the darkness is also a part of me."
"This is who I am, and I am Trigger."
"You should have sensed it long ago as well," Tregear suddenly spoke up. "Power does not descend upon someone for no reason. He is the Trigger you knew, but everything about him has been reborn."
"Including his memories, his perceptions, and even all the experiences he has been through."
"Since he has already let go of the past, why must you cling so stubbornly to it? Why not go and seek a new life?"
"I..." Carmeara's gaze trembled violently.
To ask her to give up the one she loved most—how could that ever be possible!
Who could possibly understand the agonizing yearning that spanned thirty million years?
She had finally caught a glimpse of hope, finally found a way to reclaim her Trigger, yet once again, someone was standing in her way.
"Unforgivable... Get out of my sight!"
Carmeara shouted in fury, releasing another layer of terrifying and peerless dark energy from her body.
This time, she held nothing back.
In an instant, the entire ocean seemed to feel her anger. The seawater churned violently, and countless frightened marine life forms fled in panic.
"In that case, I suppose I have no choice but to—uh?" Tregear was halfway through his sentence when an arm suddenly draped over his shoulder.
Trigger smiled and said, "Tregear, thank you for your help, but this is a battle between Carmeara and me. Let me settle things with her personally."
"Ah... This..." Yuna froze in place for a moment, completely at a loss.
"It's going to be fine." Trigger turned his head as well, his gentle gaze falling upon Yuna. "Trust me, just smile, smile."
"We're in the middle of all this, how on earth could I possibly smile!" Yuna cried out in exasperation.
Meeting Trigger's firm and resolute gaze, however, she could only let out a sigh and turn her head away.
"Don't worry, I will make Carmeara bloom with a smile as well," Trigger vowed silently in his heart. He turned around, his eyes filled with fierce determination as he charged toward Megalothor.
This was a grievance between him and Carmeara that spanned thirty million years.
It was time to bring it to an end.
"Does that mean I can leave now?" Tregear had no interest in the ending of this romantic pair. Spreading his arms wide, he slowly retreated to Yuna's side, his body gradually shrinking amidst the light until he returned to the form of his human host.
Dressed in a black-and-white patterned shirt, a seductive and wicked smile hung on his lips, carrying an air of unruliness and a lazy gaze.
"It's you!" The moment he saw his face, Akito's eyes widened instantly, filled with utter astonishment.
"Hello there." Ugisaki raised his right arm, rested it gently on his left shoulder, and then gave a slight bow forward, lifting his gaze to say, "We meet again."
The moment his words fell, a dark blue storm materialized right behind Ugisaki.
Noticing his intention, Yuna hurriedly said, "Wait!"
"Oh? Is there something else?" Ugisaki asked.
Yuna pressed her lips together. Although she didn't speak, her gaze involuntarily drifted toward the direction where Trigger was.
It was obvious that she was worried Trigger would be defeated by Carmeara.
And if that happened, the Earth would be completely destroyed.
She didn't dare to take that gamble, so she had no choice but to ask Ugisaki to stay a little longer before making a final decision.
"Since there is nothing else, we shall meet again if fate allows."
Ugisaki did not give her a chance to speak further. The moment his words finished, his figure vanished entirely within that storm.
"Wait—" Yuna finally managed to call out, but it was already too late.
Bang! Boom!
Without the protection of Ugisaki's power, the surrounding sea instantly turned violent, crashing against the reefs and sending up layer after layer of spray.
And beyond that hazy veil of mist was the fierce sight of Trigger locked in combat with Megalothor...
...
In the vast and boundless deep universe, a region isolated by a magnetic field stood out conspicuously.
It looked like an ocean, yet it floated within the endless void.
That was the cosmic ruins that no one was ever permitted to approach: Borges.
And that ocean was precisely the Sea of the Unconscious formed by the unique magnetic field belonging to Borges.
Within the Sea of the Unconscious, countless souls from ancient times to the present—those who had attempted to enter Borges in search of the legendary evil god and demonic beast Grimdo to obtain its power—were imprisoned.
The owners of those souls were as powerful as Ultimate Life Forms or as weak as entities falling short of comet-class.
Yet, without exception, they had all become lost souls of this Sea of the Unconscious.
And today, the eternally silent Sea of the Unconscious suddenly stirred with ripples.
Every element within the entire space began to pulse at a jubilant frequency, as if welcoming the arrival of someone supreme.
Finally, a blue foot stepped onto the Sea of the Unconscious, causing the surface of the sea to tremble violently.
The owner of that foot revealed his full form as he slowly moved forward, walking toward the core region of the Sea of the Unconscious: the Well of Souls.
Though the entrance to the Well of Souls was small, its interior possessed a space a million times vaster than the universe itself.
At the same time, it was also the place where Grimdo had once inhabited.
Entering the Well of Souls, Tregear's body descended slowly, as if sinking into a sea of soft cotton. Every pore in his entire body relaxed and expanded in sheer comfort.
"It's been a long time since I last came back. As expected, this place suits me best," Tregear murmured softly to himself, spreading his arms wide and completely immersing both body and soul into the depths to heal the mental trauma he had suffered recently.
At the same time, news capable of shaking the entire universe was spreading at a rapid pace.
"Hey, have you heard? The Land of Light is about to undergo its secondary evolution."
"What? The Ultra race is going to evolve once again?"
"Step right up and don't miss out! After hundreds of thousands of years, the Ultra race's Plasma Spark Tower is welcoming its evolution once again!!"
"The Ultra race evolving—does that mean they are going to become Ultimate Life Forms!?"
"..."
The entire cosmos was in a state of unrest amid the rumors of this news.
Some rejoiced, while others worried.
Those who rejoiced were naturally the races on friendly terms with the Land of Light.
After all, the Land of Light becoming even more powerful meant they possessed an even more steadfast and reliable ally.
As for those who worried—they were the Dark Universe, along with various other evil alien races.
