Volume One, Chapter 103: The King of Ultras
Inside the barrier, Taiga and the other two grappled fiercely with Taro. Perhaps bolstered by the support of his two companions, Taiga’s confidence surged, and he struck without holding back. Those small fists landed squarely on Taro’s chest—a true display of filial devotion between father and son.
Yet it was precisely those blows that managed to stir a flicker of awareness within Taro, prompting him to struggle violently. Seizing the moment, Taiga surged forward, wrapping his arms tightly around Taro, mirroring how Taro had embraced him earlier.
“Father, you must not yield to the corrupting power!”
Bang—
Energy radiated violently from Taro’s body, forcefully pushing Taiga away. Taiga staggered back a few steps but immediately advanced again, his entire body engulfed in scorching flames.
At the same time, dark flames surged across Taro’s form, their inky blackness chilling the hearts of all who beheld them.
Bang—
Once more, they collided—red and black flames clashing starkly within the confined space of the barrier. Outside, the Ultramen’s expressions tightened with concern.
“Hold on!” Their collective hearts cried out.
But reality proved harsh. Taiga’s strength was clearly inferior to Taro’s, his flames steadily consumed and fading.
“Damn it!” Taiga gritted his teeth, desperate to drain every ounce of his power to save his father. Yet at this rate, not only was his father beyond saving, but Taiga himself was on the brink of being consumed.
What could he do?
As the dark flames crept up his arms, Taiga’s anxiety mounted. Under the watchful eyes of all the Ultramen, his glow dimmed little by little until his entire body was shrouded in the dark fire, save for the brilliant blue timer on his wrist, which continued to pulse with frantic energy.
Just as Taiga was about to be completely engulfed, suddenly, a golden light blossomed from within the timer. The dazzling radiance and noble hue instantly brought one name to the minds of every Ultraman present, including Tregia.
The Ultraman King.
Crack—
The barrier shattered as if struck by a mighty blow, fragments scattering everywhere. Amid the debris, a towering figure descended slowly from above.
His arrival immediately steadied the hearts of Ultraman Father, Zoffy, and the others. With him there, it felt as though all would be well.
Empowered by the Ultraman King’s might, the flames surrounding Taiga surged violently, swiftly overwhelming Taro’s dark fire and successfully restoring his sanity.
Tregia paid no mind to the reunited father and son, instead fixing his gaze upon the Ultraman King, his expression calm and unruffled.
The Ultraman King was a warrior who had existed since the earliest chronicles of the Land of Light. Renowned for his immense power and exalted prestige, he was the undisputed sovereign of the Ultraman tribe.
As Tregia scrutinized the Ultraman King, the king likewise appraised him. Their eyes met countless times until Tregia was the first to break the silence.
“Let me experience this legendary superhuman power for myself!” he sneered, swinging his arm violently. A tremendous force burst forth, twisting the space ahead into a terrifying V-shaped distortion that bore down fiercely on the king.
The Ultraman King remained unmoved. With a sigh, he raised both arms. Instantly, countless golden lights coalesced in the air, forming a radiant barrier that stretched across half the sky.
Boom—
The mighty force crashed against the barrier but could not advance an inch further.
Cheers broke out among the Ultramen, their hearts swelling with awe at the Ultraman King’s strength.
Yet Ultraman Father and the others’ faces darkened.
Long ago, the Ultraman King had sealed Belial with a single strike. Yet now, facing Tregia, he was forced onto the defensive.
This stark contrast revealed that Tregia’s power had far exceeded all their expectations.
“It’s true,” Hikari gritted his teeth, speaking each word deliberately, “That is truly the power of Grimdo!”
The king’s ancient eyes narrowed, a flicker of surprise shimmering within his pupils. Then, summoning his strength, he unleashed a grand legendary power upon the barrier once more.
Hum—
A soft ringing sound echoed across the Land of Light. The defensive barrier abruptly transformed, becoming a solid bell that bore the great force, inch by inch closing in on Tregia.
Once fully enveloped, he would be sealed away.
Truthfully, this was Tregia’s first encounter with the Ultraman King’s power. Shocked, he nonetheless curled his lips into a faint, skewed smile.
“Interesting. But today ends here.”
“Land of Light, prepare for war!”
With those words, the space behind Tregia tore open instantly, swallowing him whole.
Ultraman Father stepped behind the Ultraman King, leading Zoffy and the others into a kneel.
At that moment, Leo and Astra descended from the sky, standing at the king’s side.
“Ultraman King, what shall we do?” Ultraman Father asked. “That child Tregia seems to have undone Borges’ seal and fused with that legendary chaos.”
He had witnessed the seal on Tregia’s chest, the chain of bindings clear in his sight.
It was obvious that the seal of Grimdo had been transferred into Tregia’s body, allowing him to continuously draw power.
Yet none could have imagined that Tregia had completely merged with Grimdo, to the extent that calling him pure chaos was not an exaggeration.
“Sigh…” Ultraman Father sighed deeply, nodding slowly. “I never expected Tregia’s power to grow to such a degree.”
“What did he mean by ‘war’ just now?” Zoffy spoke up. “Is he planning to wage war against the Land of Light?”
“The Plasma Galaxy is entirely under his control,” Taro’s voice came from afar.
Ultraman Father paused, realization dawning.
He had previously wondered why three cosmic-level warriors had suddenly appeared in the Plasma Galaxy.
But if it was connected to Tregia, everything made sense.
The Ultraman King’s expression grew grave as he said, “Find Gosei. We need his help along with Jestis.”
“Gosei?”
The Ultramen looked up, surprise etched across their faces.
“Is that the legendary, kind-hearted hero?”
Gosei’s reputation for compassion was deeply ingrained in the hearts of the Land of Light’s warriors.
“In that case, let me go,” Eidi rose to take the task.
Ultraman Father had no objection. He turned to Seven. “Call Sero and the others back, along with Galaxy. We must prepare thoroughly before the battle begins.”
Without hesitation, Seven spread his arms, sending the Ultraman signature to Sero.
…
On Earth.
Facing the assault from King Kiliarod and the monsters, Sero and the others were repeatedly driven back.
They never imagined that the monsters Tregia had summoned were nearly as powerful as King Kiliarod himself.
