Chapter 108: Destiny Unchanged by Sacrifice (Guaranteed Update)
“Congratulations, host! You have obtained the character possession card: [Silver Hand Knight Order Trainee] (Entry-level Epic)!”
This card was simpler than the previous character possession card that Mei Mumu had acquired. Everything was just on the surface; the answer lay within the puzzle itself. As soon as Mei Mumu recognized the blonde young man on the card, the card immediately transformed again.
The card became [Trainee Paladin Arthas] (Mid-level Epic)!
The card description read: “In World of Warcraft, Arthas Menethil, who later became the Lich King, was once the prince of Lordaeron and was personally mentored by the greatest paladin, Uther the Lightbringer, during his youth. The user of this card can inherit Uther’s holy light…”
The usage conditions were similar to that of someone’s [Apprentice Mage Medivh] card, but Mei Mumu was too lazy to read further.
Wow!
Impressive!
Absolutely badass!
But…
I have to say something, though, and I don’t know if I should!
I’m a magic user, and you give me a holy light muscle guy’s card—what’s that supposed to mean!?
Mei Mumu angrily flipped the table in his mind.
“Pfft!” A sneaky laugh echoed in Mei Mumu’s mind.
“Hey! You sneaky Libra! Come out here!” Mei Mumu’s roar got no response.
Who would be foolish enough to come out and take a scolding right now?
Mei Mumu glanced around. Perhaps because his strength had improved, the system had added a new option to the lottery: [Advanced Draw].
Spend 3 offset points to receive a random item, guaranteed to be at least of fine quality, with a 50% chance of obtaining epic or higher-level items. However, the range was unrestricted.
“I don’t believe it!” Gritting his teeth, Mei Mumu spent three offset points for the draw.
As expected, all these card-drawing games were just conspiracies by the operators!
Mei Mumu fully felt the malice of the goddess of fate.
If he could, he’d definitely lift the goddess of fate’s skirt and do who-knows-what to her first.
Epic quality!
Guaranteed good luck… my foot!
“Congratulations, host! You have acquired the Legendary Rogue (Assassin) character growth template collection pack. Opening this pack grants you the growth templates of three random legendary rogues!”
What am I, a year behind the times!?
This time, Mei Mumu truly flipped a table—not just in his mind, but in reality. He startled the secretary outside.
“Boss? Are you alright?”
“Sorry, I’m just angry at my own body,” Mei Mumu muttered, making up a random excuse.
Little did he know, when his secretary and the other instructors from the Red House reported today’s events to the intelligence department, the officials there sighed quietly.
“How do you assess this?”
“Typical disabled veteran syndrome. He can’t accept his disabled reality. Not surprising—some disabled soldiers suffer psychological trauma that lasts a lifetime.”
“General Dlauski still possesses formidable strength. It’s hard to imagine how powerful he was at his peak. Maybe he really could assassinate that damn little mustache guy!”
Of course, the Allies had contemplated assassinating Hitler, but the closest to success was actually the rebellion by the Hans themselves, who disliked Hitler, not any Allied intelligence operation.
Mei Mumu had no idea how ‘realistic’ the outside world’s evaluation of him was!
He had already fallen into a card-drawing nightmare.
When Mei Mumu used the advanced draw again, spending 3 offset points and pulling out a fine-quality skill called [Legendary Windfury], he was desperate.
The system described it as: “Windfury Weapon—Exclusive skill for shamans. Communicate with wind elementals to gain the power of wind. Each melee attack has a chance to trigger Windfury effect, allowing three additional normal attacks powered by the raging wind.”
“Damn it! I’m a magic user! I’m not a shaman who jumps around!”
Thinking of those eccentric shamans covered in bizarre paints, shouting “Waa waa waa oh oh oh!” and unleashing shamelessly tacky and ugly shaman magic, Mei Mumu just wanted to die.
Another useless skill!
Thinking of having wasted seven offset points, Mei Mumu felt utter despair.
Life is unpredictable.
You think you have some spare resources and want to take a risk, and boom—a disaster.
Looking at the remaining 13 points, Mei Mumu had no more illusions.
“Specify advanced draw—I want mage-exclusive spells, skills, or equipment. Specify World of Warcraft.”
“Specifying such detailed advanced draws is considered master-level lottery. You’re not qualified to unlock that now,” the secretary who had been lurking in the shadows finally jumped out.
“Then advanced draw, specify magic?”
“Alright! Five points per draw,” she replied.
“Got it… By the way, you should have stopped me earlier.”
“Sorry, I don’t have that authority. You only authorized me to act at my discretion if you lose consciousness due to injury or special circumstances. I’m already overstepping.”
“Fine, let’s just draw!”
With 13 points, Mei Mumu decided to draw twice and save the remaining three points.
When the lottery wheel stopped, Mei Mumu finally saw a purple epic-quality card back featuring a mage’s robe and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
“This time, no running away, right?”
When the card flipped open, Mei Mumu’s heart jumped into his throat again.
The card featured a female mage with half her face hidden under a black hood trimmed with gold, revealing only a delicate chin. She had gorgeous blue-purple hair and a slender, alluring figure.
Because Mei Mumu immediately recognized the owner of the card, the mystery was instantly revealed.
“Congratulations, host! You have obtained [The Legacy of the Witch Medea]!”
“Medea was an outstanding divine-era sorceress, originally the unfortunate princess of Colchis in Greek mythology and the first wife of the hero Jason. Though known as the ‘Betrayer Witch,’ she was originally a pure woman—an exceptionally talented sorceress who devoted everything for her beloved. While mythology does not credit her with great achievements, her magical skill is undoubtedly top-tier!”
“Note: Acquiring this legacy may also inherit the witch’s unknown curse!”
That was a bit too much!
Mei Mumu felt extremely conflicted.
The second draw was also somewhat awkward.
For the first time, Mei Mumu drew magical equipment—and it was the weapon he most desired to enhance his mana.
When he saw the weapon, his eyes were drawn to the magnificent golden pommel, the perfectly proportioned slender blade, and the classic cross-shaped sword design.
Then, once again, he angrily flipped the table in his mind!
“Congratulations, host! You have obtained the magical one-handed sword [Song of the Azure Sky] (Entry-level Epic)!”
The sword was a fine piece—almost materialized from the void. The moment he held it, he felt an intimate connection. The magical circuits embedded in the blade indeed granted Mei Mumu nearly a 10% increase in mana. Even looking in the mirror, he felt an overwhelming sense of coolness.
But why did his heart feel increasingly bleak?
