Chapter 33: The Shadow of Holy Light
At this moment, before Lin Wei stood a silver-white metal door.
“It’s simply a tough metal, with no lingering power from a sorcerer,” Lin Wei quickly judged the material of the door, borrowing the intelligence core’s abilities.
“In that case, I’ll just break it open…” Lin Wei stepped back a few paces, then struck out with a sudden punch.
Boom!
Under the terrifying strength of a Grand Knight, the metal door exploded instantly. A cloud of dust billowed up, but quickly settled.
Lin Wei leaned forward and walked slowly through the doorway.
“Is this a luminous stone?” he murmured to himself.
On either side of the narrow, dark corridor leading to the secret chamber, oval glowing objects were arranged in neat rows. The light they emitted was gentle and diffuse, not harsh even in such a gloomy place.
Lin Wei picked up a piece of luminous stone, examined it carefully, then set it back where it had been.
“So this is the secret chamber…” A fervent light flared in his eyes.
After just a few steps, Lin Wei reached a tightly enclosed space, with only a narrow gap through which one could barely squeeze.
Turning sideways, Lin Wei edged through bit by bit.
The first thing to greet his eyes was a chest as tall as a person. The chest seemed to be made of the same material as the metal door outside, its silver-white sheen flashing sharply under the reflection of the luminous stones.
“A lock…” Lin Wei touched the heavy metal lock on the chest. “It’s a bit like a safe from my previous life.”
Bang!
With one punch, the side of the chest cracked open, leaving a dark hole in the box.
Lin Wei thrust his right hand into the hole, gripped the broken edge, and gave a forceful yank.
Crash!
The entire side of the metal chest was torn off, exposing its contents without reserve.
Inside was an empty space, separated by a thick metal plate. On the upper half of the plate sat a book. The book was so thick it resembled five stacked bricks. Its color had yellowed with age, and both the cover and spine were carved with strange patterns. Though it was only a book, Lin Wei felt an eerie sensation emanating from it.
“Is this the Sorcerer’s Book Count Lamo mentioned?” Lin Wei reached in and took out the yellowed tome.
The instant it touched his hands, he felt a chill sweep through him. The book seemed alive, instinctively resisting his touch.
“Interesting…” Lin Wei slowly fixed the book on his forearm.
“This is…” His breathing quickened, his heart gave a sudden jolt. “A sorcerer’s meditation method?!”
The Sorcerer’s Book that recorded the sorcerer’s meditation method!
In Elena’s diary from Ketu Town, Lin Wei had learned a secret about sorcerer’s meditation. For an ordinary person to become a sorcerer, the first step was to practice the meditation method and cultivate their own spiritual power.
But sorcerer’s meditation methods were extremely rare; for a mortal to obtain one was nearly impossible. In Elena’s diary, her teacher, lacking the meditation method, resorted to extreme measures in his research, ultimately paying with his life.
Even Count Lamo, who owned this meditation method, could not decipher the sorcerer’s script and could only keep the book as a treasured artifact, unable to use its true contents. Lin Wei, however, was different. In Elena’s secret chamber, he had found a dictionary for translating sorcerer’s script, and had ordered the intelligence core to record and transmit it to his mind.
Lin Wei carefully turned the pages, reading bit by bit.
“The Shadow of Holy Light…” His gaze flickered with a thirst for knowledge. “The meditation method in this book is called the Shadow of Holy Light…”
A long time passed.
Only then did Lin Wei tear his eyes away from the Sorcerer’s Book, letting out a deep breath, his gaze profound with thought.
“A sorcerer’s meditation method stimulates latent spiritual power within the body through special meditation, serving as the foundation for sorcerous abilities,” Lin Wei muttered, a faint smile curling his lips. “I’ve read in Elena’s diary that, as the introductory secret of the sorcerer’s path, meditation methods rarely appear in the world of mortals, but are basic within the sorcerer’s circle—every apprentice can master one or even several different meditation methods.”
“Yet even so, whenever a new meditation method emerges, it can set off a storm of bloodshed among sorcerers. Besides enhancing spiritual power, some of these methods cultivate strange innate abilities…”
“And this Shadow of Holy Light…” The fire of desire and excitement blazed in Lin Wei’s eyes, “is precisely one of those rare meditation methods! And the ability it grants is… ‘to catch fragments of future worlds’—isn’t that… predicting the future?!”
“How many secrets does the world of sorcerers still hold?” Lin Wei’s thirst for knowledge surged wildly—the explorer’s impulse of his past life as a scientific fanatic flared up once more.
“Core, record and analyze the Shadow of Holy Light meditation method in this book!”
“Ding!”
“Recording and analysis initiated. Estimated completion time: 19 minutes and 21 seconds.”
Lin Wei forcibly suppressed his excitement and entered a waiting state that seemed to stretch endlessly.
“Ding!”
“Analysis complete. Beginning transmission.”
“Ding!”
“Transmission complete!”
Although the Shadow of Holy Light was a mysterious meditation method, it was, after all, a written record. Especially after analysis, it was easily transmitted into Lin Wei’s mind.
“As expected, sorcerer’s meditation methods differ fundamentally from knight’s cultivation methods,” Lin Wei realized the principle the moment he received the Shadow of Holy Light.
“Knight’s cultivation explores physical potential. Once the method is understood, one can directly operate it to modify the body, using the energy of blood and flesh as the source. The normal path for knights is to learn while slowly transforming themselves. But with my intelligence core, I thoroughly analyze the knight’s method first, then swiftly progress physically.”
“It’s like tunneling through a mountain: others dig slowly as they move forward, but I employ a drill to quickly punch through and drive straight to the other side. So to others, I seem a genius.”
Lin Wei pressed his lips together. “As for sorcerer’s meditation, it’s quite different. It’s not like the knight’s internal method, which relies on the body’s own blood energy. Sorcerer’s meditation requires external, ambient energy. Later in my training, I cannot advance as swiftly as before.”
“However…” A subtle smile played at Lin Wei’s lips. “With the intelligence core, I can optimize the operation speed of sorcerer’s meditation to its highest efficiency… Core, this is my greatest reliance for survival in this world!”
