Chapter 1: The Intelligent Core Sphere
Starlink Continent, Western Coast.
In a side chamber of the Tulip Earl’s manor.
“My head hurts…” Lin Wei groaned, clutching his head as he struggled to sit up in bed.
He glanced around the room, eyes widening in bewilderment. “Where am I?”
His surroundings resembled a European medieval chamber. Though the furnishings were worn and old, they bore the unmistakable touch of nobility.
“I remember collapsing from poisoning after a failed experiment—how did I end up here?” Lin Wei was utterly baffled by his predicament.
At that moment, a torrent of fragmented memories crashed through his mind.
“Ah!” The pain surged anew, sharper than before, forcing Lin Wei to clutch the back of his head, his body trembling uncontrollably.
A long time passed.
“I’ve… actually crossed over into another world…” Lin Wei’s eyes flickered with a strange light before a wry smile crept onto his face. “To think, I was a top biologist before this—now I’m in such a sorry state… And this body’s death was truly pathetic.”
He rose unsteadily and made his way to a rough, age-spotted mirror.
The reflection staring back was that of a youth, no older than fourteen or fifteen, with fair skin, short chestnut hair, and a pair of sky-blue eyes—features typical of a Westerner.
The flood of memories had told him the state of his current body.
This body’s name was much like his own: Linvey Nolan. He was the son of the Earl of Tulip within the Kingdom of Radiance, serving as the personal attendant to Jon Nolan.
Linvey’s parents had once been long-serving servants at the Tulip estate. Yet, tragedy struck when they accompanied the countess on a journey and died protecting her. In gratitude for their sacrifice, the countess adopted the six-year-old Linvey, bestowed upon him the surname Nolan, and made him the personal attendant—though in truth, still a servant—to her son, Jon Nolan.
As Jon grew older, his vices as a young noble only deepened—most notably his lust for women, sparing no effort to collect beauties, earning him a notorious reputation throughout the Tulip domain.
As Jon’s chief lackey, Linvey naturally bore responsibility for abducting women for his master. Backed by the Earl’s name, few dared oppose him, but one cannot always walk by the river without getting their feet wet.
Just half a day ago, Jon set his sights on a commoner’s daughter. Eager to please him, Linvey led a few henchmen to the girl’s home, only to be met with unexpected resistance. A scuffle ensued, and in the chaos, Linvey was struck on the back of the head and lost consciousness.
Everyone assumed Linvey had simply fainted, but none realized that he had died quietly, his body now occupied by Lin Wei from another world.
Before his crossing, Lin Wei had been a leading biologist. Upon discovering a new species in Antarctica, he decided to dissect it himself. Little did he know, the creature was highly venomous, and his lack of precautions left him poisoned—and then, in an instant, he arrived in this world.
“Though the conditions aren’t bad, being someone’s servant—a notorious one at that—is most unpleasant,” Lin Wei muttered, frowning. “Still, since I’m here, I might as well settle in. Better than dying outright… From now on, I am Linvey Nolan…” He sought to comfort himself.
Just then—
Ding!
“Intelligent Sphere Core is activating…”
“Activation successful!”
Linvey was startled by the sudden voice but then delighted. “Isn’t that my Intelligent Sphere Core? It came through with me!”
The Intelligent Sphere Core had been his experimental assistant before transmigrating, boasting powerful data storage and analysis functions, aiding him in countless high-precision experiments.
“I changed bodies after crossing over, yet the Sphere Core is here. It must have merged with my soul…” Linvey mused. “A material device fused with a soul—what an incredible physical phenomenon.”
Through his mind’s eye, he saw a tiny, spherical phantom projected in his consciousness—the Intelligent Sphere Core.
“Detected host’s brainwaves are chaotic…”
“Analysis indicates overlapping and lost memories. Would you like them sorted?”
The emotionless mechanical voice sounded again.
Linvey was startled, unwilling to be assimilated by the original owner’s memories despite adapting to his new identity.
He hastily commanded, “Sort and organize.”
After a pause, he added, “Store and classify any useful memories from the original owner based on my current situation. Discard the useless ones.”
“Sorting and organizing…”
“Backup complete. Memories now transmitting to host’s brain…”
“Transmission complete.”
Linvey immediately felt his foggy mind clear, the tangled memories now vivid and well-ordered.
The former owner’s memories played rapidly before his eyes, like a slideshow.
After ten minutes, Linvey had sifted through all the useful memories and made several interesting discoveries.
“This world’s civilization does resemble Western civilization from my previous life…” he mused. “But… what exactly is a ‘knight’?”
From the body’s original memories, he learned that this world boasted a powerful group called the Knights.
Nearly every knight possessed superhuman strength—they could easily shatter boulders, sprint twenty or thirty meters in a second; to Linvey, they seemed like veritable supermen.
“A biological miracle…” Linvey’s eyes shone with excitement—the instinctive thrill of a top biologist. “The more I learn about this new world, the more fascinating it becomes…”
As Linvey pondered, the door to the room was kicked open with a crash.
“Linvey!” barked a voice laced with impatience.
A young man, similarly around fourteen or fifteen, strode in, dressed in aristocratic finery. His golden hair fell about him in unruly waves, his features strikingly handsome, though the arrogant set of his jaw made him instantly dislikable.
This was Jon Nolan, Linvey’s master.
“So the spoiled heir himself?” Linvey thought coldly. “Here to fetch me personally? Still young and unpracticed, it seems. Once he inherits the Tulip estate, I doubt he’ll blur the lines of rank like this ever again…”
Outwardly, Linvey maintained his composure, bowing slightly. “Young master, you’ve come.”
Not a hint of his true thoughts showed on his face.
