Chapter Ninety-Four: Interrogation
Three pairs of eyes turned toward the sound of the question.
Shirakawa, dressed in a white tracksuit, looked at them calmly.
“And you are?”
The oldest of the three frowned. He had not seen a blue rose on Shirakawa.
In truth, before they came, Li Changqing had suggested preparing two blue roses, finding a way to earn their trust, and then learning whether Kelly had been taken by them.
Shirakawa had no interest in such roundabout schemes. He reached out, seized one man by the hair, slammed him downward, and drove his knee into the man’s face.
A dull thud.
There was no scream. The man collapsed to the floor and fainted, blood beginning to stream from his nose.
“You’re asking for death.”
The other two exchanged a glance, their faces turning cold, and charged at Shirakawa.
The people in Rose Bar, seeing a fight break out, were not surprised. Such scuffles were a common sight in a place like this.
Those on the dance floor quickly scattered to make room.
The bar’s security guards frowned when they saw the brawl and hurried forward to break it up.
Before the two guards could even reach them, all three men were already sprawled on the floor.
Though the music still throbbed loudly inside the bar, the people within had fallen silent.
“Is that guy some kind of fighter? He put all three down so fast.”
For those who frequented bars, fights were nothing new. But one against three, and ending it so quickly, was something they had never seen.
The two guards looked at each other in astonishment.
Still, out of duty, they stepped forward. “Sir, our bar has a rule against fighting.”
“Mm, it’s already over.”
All three had been knocked unconscious by Shirakawa. With practiced ease, he grabbed two of them by the arms and dragged them toward the exit. After a few steps, he turned back to Li Changqing. “There’s one more. Take him.”
“Got it.”
Good heavens, that was brutal.
Those three had not had the slightest chance against Shirakawa. His close-quarters combat was terrifying.
Li Changqing hoisted one man onto his shoulder and ran out.
The two guards exchanged another glance, then moved swiftly to block Shirakawa. “Sir, you may fight, but you cannot take them away.”
If a customer were dragged outside and someone ended up dead, Rose Bar’s reputation would suffer greatly.
Shirakawa did not make things difficult for them. He took out his identification. “I’m a federal police officer. These three are fugitives.”
The credentials were, of course, genuine. For the sake of operational convenience, such documents were all in order.
The three men were successfully taken away by Li Changqing and Shirakawa.
“Went pretty smoothly,” Li Changqing said, frowning as he looked at the unconscious trio in the back seat.
Driving, Shirakawa replied, “Your detective friend has already been captured by them.”
“We’ll just go back to the bureau and ask where they’re holding him. Easy enough.”
...
“Where is this place?”
“Is anyone there?”
Kelly Rosetti’s eyes were covered.
He sat in a chair, his hands bound behind it.
“Hey, speak up. How much ransom do you want? So long as you’re honest kidnappers, our Rosetti family will gladly pay to get me back.”
Kelly was not especially panicked. For nobles, as long as kidnappers were after money, it was no great matter.
Kidnappers, after all, either wanted money or lusted after something else.
They could hardly be after his handsome face, could they? No, perhaps they could. Maybe some beautiful young lady had fallen hopelessly in love with him and hired someone to abduct him.
No one answered. Countless thoughts flashed through Kelly’s mind.
At last, he heard footsteps.
The blindfold was removed.
In front of him stood a scar-faced man.
This was bad.
“I saw nothing,” Kelly said hurriedly, shutting his eyes again. “Sir, please cover your face first, and then I’ll open my eyes. I know the rules.”
“You’re Kelly Rosetti, right?”
The man’s voice rang out.
Keeping his eyes closed, Kelly said, “Sir, how much ransom do you want? Name a price first.”
“Ransom?” The man could not help laughing. He circled Kelly once. “You’re priceless. No amount of money could buy you.”
Kelly’s heart sank to the bottom of a cold abyss.
Not after money, then after...
Could this broad-faced gentleman have taken a fancy to him?
No. Better to let him kill him outright.
He opened his eyes and looked carefully. The man had a long scar on his face, slightly dark skin, a beard, a square jaw, and wore a yellow sweater that had already begun to pill.
Little by little, madness appeared on the man’s face. “The great Juglas is about to descend, and you will be honored to become the vessel through which Juglas walks the mortal world.”
...
Interrogation Room Thirty-Six.
The three men who had been brought back were already being held separately.
In one of the rooms, Shirakawa picked up a basin of cold water and splashed it over the bound prisoner.
With a jolt, Guo Dan awakened.
Dazed, he looked around, dimly remembering that he had been meeting at Rose Bar when someone had suddenly come up and knocked him unconscious.
“What place is this?”
“Who are you?”
Guo Dan studied the interrogation room, his brows tightly knitted.
“Talk. Where have you locked up Kelly Rosetti?”
Shirakawa sat in a chair and questioned him, his expression cold.
“What Kelly Rosetti? I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Guo Dan looked utterly confused. “I was only dancing at that bar.”
“You’re Guo Dan, a member of the Moro Sect. You abducted Kelly Rosetti in order to use him in reviving the hound god Juglas. That should all be correct, shouldn’t it?”
Shirakawa stood and walked to his side. “Your companions have already confessed. I’m asking you now only to confirm whether what they said is true.”
“Of course, you can choose not to speak. There are three of you altogether. If the remaining one has confessed, that will do as well. It’s just that you won’t have any way out.”
At that moment, Guo Dan felt a chill of fear. How did this man know his name?
Someone had already talked? That rat had betrayed the hound god Juglas! Did he not fear Juglas’s retribution?
“Since he has confessed, I have nothing to say. After I die, I too will become a servant of Juglas!” Guo Dan sneered, then, like an unyielding martyr, spat a mouthful of saliva onto the hem of Shirakawa’s clothes.
“I won’t say anything!”
“I...”
Guo Dan realized that Shirakawa, who had been expressionless a moment before, now looked even darker.
His expression gradually twisted into something like a ferocious beast.
At that moment, Li Changqing pushed the door open from outside and said, “Old Bai, the other two have already confessed. Keeping this one is pointless. Kill him.”
