Zheng Pingchi was absolutely confident in the interrogation methods of the Seventh Team. Few monsters could endure it. He knew, however, that it was possible Zhang Xuner might hold out, gritting her teeth and refusing to speak. So far, the only two individuals who knew the whereabouts of those half-formed monsters were Zhang Xuner and Shen Yan. The key to unlocking the problem lay with these two. It was out of the question to confront Shen Yan directly. Besides, there was no faster method for now. Seeing this, Hu Xiong shrugged and sat down, refraining from further comment. Although the Investigation Bureau had instructed the Seventh Team to cooperate with them, Hu Xiong could tell that these men wouldn’t truly obey their orders, so he chose to remain silent.

Zheng Pingchi said, “It seems none of you have objections. Then let’s proceed with the plan.”
“What hobbies does Zhang Xuner have?” Li Changqing furrowed his brow and asked.
“Hm?” Zheng Pingchi looked at Li Changqing. “Do you have another idea?”
“Maybe try to sow discord between Zhang Xuner and Shen Yan?” Li Changqing suggested. “Or perhaps…”
Zheng Pingchi frowned. “These monsters are all in the same boat—if one gets hurt, they all suffer. It’s not so easy to drive a wedge between them. You experts just arrived and aren’t fully familiar with the situation yet. Rest well first and get to know each other.”

At that moment, a robust member of the Seventh Team stood up, smiling at Li Changqing and the others. “Greetings, experts. I’m Shi Zun. I’ve heard you were coming for a while. We have a combat room here—how about I show you a few moves?”
Baichuan calmly stood and said, “Shall we spar?”
“Nonsense.” Zheng Pingchi hadn’t intended to speak up, but seeing Baichuan rise, he quickly said, “The experts must be weary from the journey.”
Though scolding, Zheng Pingchi’s face bore little harshness.
Shi Zun smiled broadly—the team leader had told him to give the experts a bit of a challenge.
“Baichuan,” Hu Xiong frowned slightly, “Forget it.”
Shi Zun’s smile stiffened.
“Baichuan?”
The Seventh Team members clearly recognized these names, their gazes continually flicking toward Baichuan.
“If I fight Mr. Bai, wouldn’t that be bullying?” Shi Zun scanned the room. Hu Xiong was older and not so easy to handle. As for that female ghost, better to avoid her—winning would be embarrassing.

“Sir,” Shi Zun pointed to Li Changqing, smiling, “Would you be interested in a friendly match?”
“A match?” Li Changqing frowned. “Sorry, I’m tired from the journey.”
He declined outright, though he secretly wanted to spar. After a month of training, he was eager to see how far his combat skills had come. But using full strength would risk exposing his identity as a zombie. It was not worth it.
“If you want to spar, I’ll fight you,” Baichuan said calmly. “Shall we?”
Baichuan was proud and arrogant; after arriving here, the attitude of this group made him uncomfortable.
“Another day, another day,” Shi Zun awkwardly sat back down.
Zheng Pingchi stepped forward to smooth things over. “I’ll take you to your rooms to rest first.”
If these two actually fought, it would be the Seventh Team who lost face.
“Follow me.”
Li Changqing, Hu Xiong, Baichuan, Tang Xiaoyu, and the others followed Zheng Pingchi away.

Inside the conference room, others teased, “Shi Zun, isn’t that just Baichuan? Go ahead and fight him! We all support you.”
Shi Zun’s face darkened. “You all talk big, but you don’t understand that guy. He once single-handedly took down two monster kings.”
“Only those from NO.30 could pull off something like that.”
“That was before. Didn’t he give up his evil powers?”
“Even without them, he’s still hard to deal with.”
The room buzzed with lively discussion.

Their resting place was in the same building.
The building had three floors, converted into hotel accommodations with luxurious, five-star standards.
After Zheng Pingchi arranged their rooms, he said, “Meals will be delivered to you. Apart from the 27th floor and your living floor, don’t roam elsewhere in the building.”
Once arrangements were complete, Zheng Pingchi left in a hurry.
The group gathered in Hu Xiong’s room.

Hu Xiong lay on the bed, grumbling, “Damn it, these people are all petty. We came here to help them, and they’re putting on airs.”
Li Changqing was calm. “Hopefully their plan works. If it does, once it’s done, we can all leave and return to Nanlin City.”
Hu Xiong nodded. “True. Let’s just treat it like a sightseeing trip.”
Tang Xiaoyu was quiet, standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the many towering skyscrapers, her eyes shining.
“Want to go out for a walk?” Li Changqing asked her.
“Yeah.” Tang Xiaoyu nodded enthusiastically. “It’s my first time in the Federal Capital. It’s huge—much bigger than Nanlin City.”
“That’s obvious, otherwise it wouldn’t be called the capital.” Li Changqing smiled.
Hu Xiong, more experienced, said, “Wait until nightfall. The neon lights make the city beautiful after dark.”

Night fell quickly. In the Madlen district, neon lights glowed brightly, and the nightlife was even more bustling than the day.
After dinner, people came out of their homes to stroll in nearby parks, spend time with family, or shop with friends.

Li Changqing, Tang Xiaoyu, Hu Xiong, and Baichuan arrived at a street with a vintage atmosphere—Zhoujing Street.
Hu Xiong introduced, “The Madlen district was built on the ruins of the ancient Zhou Kingdom. Many relics remain, and this street is one of them.”
Zhoujing Street was more than just a street—it was a large area and a famous scenic spot in Madlen.
“Further ahead is the old imperial palace ruins, but it’s closed at night. We can’t go in.”

On either side of the street were stalls selling trinkets—candied hawthorn, malt sugar, and cheap fake antiques.
Some girls dressed in ancient robes took photos along the quaint street.
“I want to wear that outfit too,” Tang Xiaoyu whispered to Li Changqing. “Wait for me.”
She spotted a public restroom nearby, dashed inside, and soon emerged transformed—wearing a red ancient-style dress with her hair styled in a traditional bun.
She was already beautiful, but this attire made her even more striking.

Li Changqing thought to himself that her greatest advantage was not needing to shop for clothes—she could just transform into whatever she wanted.
