Chapter Fifty-Two: Here I Come, You Pathetic Fools
Some gaming streamers like to start betting rounds at the beginning of a match, inviting their viewers to wager. Most of them let the audience bet on whether the total kills will be odd or even, or guess if the kill count will exceed twenty. But everyone knows that Art is the only one bold enough to offer odds on how many times he’ll achieve a “pentakill” in a single game.
This match was no exception.
The game began, level one team fight. As expected, Art claimed first blood.
“Game over!”
“Mother-in-law, hand me a cigarette!”
“Here we go, betting round open—place your wagers!”
“Pull it all to the left, beachside villa incoming!”
“Fish pond match, beans giveaway!”
When the viewers saw Art had chosen Flash and Teleport as his summoner spells, they instantly understood what was going on. Especially when Draven secured first blood—everyone’s lips curled into cruel smiles as they feverishly started betting.
Three minutes into the game.
Sure enough, Art had already racked up six kills and was sitting on more than two thousand gold.
From then on, the nature of the game changed. The opposing players’ strategy shifted from laning and farming to retreating behind their second tower.
Seven or eight minutes later, Art, controlling Draven, accompanied by his trusty support, smoothly made their way to the fountain.
At this moment, Art’s scoreboard in the top right showed he’d collected twenty-five kills and was fully equipped with six items.
The pair blocked the fountain entrance, timing their attack with the enemy’s respawn. Thresh’s hooks landed perfectly, and Art’s axe dispatched each foe like children.
“Brothers, my last hitting is terrible—only twenty minions in over ten minutes.”
The viewers erupted in laughter.
“Well played, Bao Fei!”
“Excuse me, how much does Vincent cost as a champion?”
“With this kind of support, even a dog could carry bot lane.”
“Draven, your Vincent is impressive!”
“I don’t push towers, I just fountain camp. That’s what makes it fun!”
...
He boasted aloud, but Art’s hands never stopped moving. With swift, practiced maneuvers, he claimed a pentakill.
But most crucially, the enemy Zed was still mid-lane, facing off against his own team’s mid. Seeing only four deaths among his teammates, the enemy ADC was baffled—how could Draven get a pentakill? He forgot that two of those deaths were his own, killed, revived, and killed again.
Still stubborn, he typed defiantly in all chat:
“Fountain camping? Who do you think you are, Vincent?”
...
Meanwhile.
Bai Qingming watched the entire match in confusion.
Wasn’t he supposed to have top-tier gaming talent?
Why didn’t he feel any difference?
Everything seemed just as before. The bot lane duo had fed Draven to legendary status, but Bai Qingming couldn’t see any technical change.
Left with no choice, Bai Qingming relied on his own solid skills to handle the situation, managing to kill the enemy mid twice.
After returning to base and purchasing two items, he felt confident—even without the advantage of top-tier talent, victory was assured.
Just then, the pentakill notification sounded unexpectedly.
Enemy Draven had scored a pentakill!
Hearing this, Bai Qingming paused.
Damn.
He was still alive, and Draven got a pentakill?
Checking the minimap, Bai Qingming was completely bewildered.
What the hell!
Enemy Draven and Thresh were standing at his own fountain entrance, while his teammates huddled deep inside, shivering. The poor ADC died, respawned, and died again, unable to move.
Meanwhile, his ADC slowly typed in public chat:
“Fountain camping? Who do you think you are, Vincent?”
Then in team chat: “Guys, I swear it’s not my fault. Draven’s hacking—report this bastard after the game!”
Bai Qingming: “...”
Viewers: “...”
The ADC’s excuse perfectly shifted the blame—now he didn’t fear being scolded.
“Looks like it’s time for my 2-0 Zed to punish this arrogant Draven.”
Saying this, Bai Qingming started recalling. “Watch closely, everyone. I’ll deploy my signature combo and take down Draven—what the—!”
He stopped mid-sentence, replaced by a startled exclamation.
He had just returned to base when Thresh landed a hook outside the fountain.
Originally, Bai Qingming calculated that this hook would be harmless. Once the control ended, he’d activate his ultimate, Shadow Assault, target Draven, unleash a flurry of shurikens, apply Ignite, and return to safety.
Two seconds later, as Draven’s corpse lay outside the fountain, viewers would spam praise for his skill.
But Bai Qingming never expected Thresh’s hook to be followed immediately by Draven’s axe, instantly killing him.
Truly, one axe per child.
No wonder his teammates stayed so deep inside—how could anyone play like this?
He tried to surrender, but the vote didn’t pass, someone secretly voted no to torment the team.
Worse, after respawning, Bai Qingming couldn’t even move. Thresh timed his hooks perfectly—every time Bai Qingming revived, he’d be hooked again.
After six consecutive black screens, his ADC finally respawned first and took the hook for him.
Bai Qingming managed to squeeze a bit deeper into the fountain.
Meanwhile, the chat exploded with activity.
“The enemy Draven is Vincent!”
A viewer recognized him.
“No way, it really is Vincent—I just checked his stream, Boss Bao is on a killing spree.”
“Ha! The Single Father is getting fountain-camped by Vincent.”
“Looks like this match is lost. Is it still possible to place bets at Boss Bao’s stream?”
“Excuse me, is this game called ‘Escape the Fountain’?”
The chat scrolled wildly.
Realizing Draven’s identity, Bai Qingming was instantly relieved.
So it was Vincent—no wonder he was being fountain camped.
He gave up on playing.
With a thought, the system panel appeared before him.
Was it intentional? Bai Qingming discovered that the reward for top-tier gaming talent needed to be activated.
Once he understood, he didn’t hesitate to activate it.
Ding~
[Top-tier gaming talent activated successfully]
The next moment, as he looked at the screen, Bai Qingming felt his understanding of the game transform.
Gripping the mouse, he experienced a sensation beyond words.
For a moment, it was as if he were possessed by the Demon King.
No god or Buddha could stand before him.
With renewed confidence, Bai Qingming refused to sit idly by.
At that instant, Thresh hooked again outside the fountain, targeting the ADC.
Bai Qingming saw his opportunity.
Draven threw out an axe.
“Now!”
His eyes lit up; a king’s maneuver unfolded.
Seizing the brief moment when Draven moved to retrieve the axe, Bai Qingming executed a W shift followed by Flash, instantly appearing outside the fountain.
Without looking back, he dashed out of the base.
This miraculous escape stunned everyone.
Question marks flooded the chat.
...
At that moment, everyone was bewildered.
Even Vincent and his support were caught off guard, while viewers in both streams went wild.
“666, Zed actually escaped the fountain!”
“Single Father is awesome! This is the first time I’ve seen someone escape Vincent’s fountain camp.”
“Everyone stand up!”
The viewers marveled.
Just then, Vincent noticed a line appear in public chat.
Bai Qingming: “I made it out, loser!”
