Chapter 118: If It Were You, I Would Be Willing to Wait
Five minutes later, Tang Zhichu came downstairs, his face full of resentment. Zhou Yun sat on the sofa, glancing toward Tang Zhichu at the staircase and glared, “Where did you find that blanket?”
Then Zhou Yun covered her face, as it seemed Tang Zhichu really wasn’t wearing those pink pajama pants; he had wrapped himself tightly in a blanket!
“Slow down, watch out you don’t flash anyone, hahaha.” Zhou Yun covered her face but left a big gap, laughing uncontrollably.
Tang Zhichu swore he had never worn pink skinny pants—yes, skinny pants.
He stomped over angrily and plopped down beside Zhou Yun. “Go dry my clothes, or I’m not leaving today.”
Zhou Yun’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
Tang Zhichu said nothing.
Seeing Tang Zhichu silent, Zhou Yun toned down her laughter and slyly reached out two fingers, attempting to lift the blanket wrapped around him.
She seemed to catch a glimpse of pink!
Tang Zhichu quickly shifted a few steps to the side.
“What are you doing?”
“Hahaha, you’re wearing it! I’m sure you are, I saw pink!”
Tang Zhichu’s face darkened, and he moved further aside.
Zhou Yun only laughed harder, her mind replaying Tang Zhichu singing on stage during the day—so cool, so bold, so aggressive.
After laughing for a while, Zhou Yun finally calmed down. “How about I find you a white one instead?”
Tang Zhichu stood up without looking at her and went upstairs.
He was a bit annoyed, clearly underestimating Zhou Yun’s boldness. If he was going to stay, he’d stay—but why did she have to mess with his pants!
“What are you going to do?”
“Sleep!”
Tang Zhichu really went upstairs to sleep—in Zhou Yun’s room.
Just as Tang Zhichu expected, the bed was filled with Zhou Yun’s scent, very soothing and comfortable. It didn’t take long before he fell asleep.
When he woke up, Tang Zhichu had no idea what time it was.
Outside, it was still dark. Perhaps it was some sort of expectation inside him, but since nothing happened, he woke up feeling empty inside.
Tang Zhichu got out of bed and opened the bedroom door. The lights downstairs were still on.
Zhou Yun was curled up on the sofa. Her clothes were tight-fitting, and as she curled up, a patch of snow-white skin on her lower abdomen was exposed.
Tang Zhichu shook his head and walked over.
In this regard, Zhou Yun seemed to have her own boundaries—she wouldn’t cross the line on her own accord.
Tang Zhichu gently picked Zhou Yun up, her round face still carrying a faint smile, lips red and moist.
When Tang Zhichu carried Zhou Yun upstairs, his movements were a bit rough, and she woke up.
She was groggy for a moment, then slowly rested her face against Tang Zhichu’s chest.
“See, exercising really works,” Zhou Yun murmured.
Tang Zhichu didn’t reply. After carrying her into the bedroom, he laid her down on the bed and covered her with a blanket.
Neither spoke; one lay down, the other stood, just looking at each other.
It was like a silent confrontation, as if whoever made the first move would become vulnerable.
Before tonight, Tang Zhichu would have definitely gone downstairs.
After deciding on certain things, his skin grew thicker. He chuckled and slipped under the covers.
Zhou Yun’s face flushed crimson, her arms tightly pressing the blanket, very nervous.
But after Tang Zhichu lay down, he merely sniffed the scent of Zhou Yun’s hair lightly before closing his eyes.
A few minutes later, Tang Zhichu’s breathing became steady.
Zhou Yun still stared wide-eyed, the redness on her face not fading.
After an unknown length of time, she turned to face Tang Zhichu.
Just looking at the person before her, feeling his breath, his warmth, Zhou Yun sighed softly and said, “As long as you’re willing, I’m willing. If you feel it’s not the right time, then we’ll wait a little longer.”
When it came to true feelings, Zhou Yun wouldn’t let herself be confused—that was her principle. Even earlier, when she took Tang Zhichu’s clothes, she hadn’t thought anything serious would happen.
She wanted Tang Zhichu to get used to having his own life, to living together.
She wanted Tang Zhichu to know that whether it was Chen Siyang or Jiang Lan, she was the one most suitable to live with him.
That wasn’t sex; that was love that hadn’t fully matured yet.
So Zhou Yun wouldn’t take the initiative to take that step. Of course, if Tang Zhichu was willing, she felt she wouldn’t refuse; she felt the person she had been waiting for had arrived.
There were just some other factors standing between them.
If it were Tang Zhichu, she was willing to wait.
The next day, when Tang Zhichu opened his eyes again, Zhou Yun was gone.
But his clothes had been neatly folded and placed on the bedside table.
After changing, he went downstairs. There were sounds coming from the kitchen, so he went to take a look.
Zhou Yun was wearing a blue plaid apron, making breakfast.
Zhou Yun turned and met Tang Zhichu’s gaze; he burst out laughing.
Zhou Yun’s face darkened. “If you laugh again, I’ll hit you!”
Tang Zhichu entered the kitchen, gently pushed Zhou Yun aside, and said, “Go rest. Your dark circles look like a giant panda’s. I’ll handle it and call you when it’s done.”
Zhou Yun grunted but didn’t argue. Instead, she took off the apron and handed it to Tang Zhichu.
Such intimate gestures became increasingly natural after they started sharing a bed.
Zhou Yun didn’t go back to sleep upstairs but lay on the sofa, positioning herself so she could see the kitchen.
Zhou Yun was making noodles for breakfast.
Tang Zhichu’s breakfast was simple: boiled corn and eggs, plus some warmed milk and sliced fruit.
One was a breakfast habit long ingrained in the people of Yuzhou—eating noodles.
The other was Zhou Yun’s preferred breakfast; she wanted to maintain her figure.
They were both preparing breakfast for each other.
When Zhou Yun opened her eyes, she found a blanket over her and breakfast placed neatly on the coffee table in front of her—eggs, corn, milk, and sliced apples and blueberries.
There was a sound behind her. She got up and turned around to see Tang Zhichu doing simple exercises on the balcony.
Zhou Yun rubbed her face and murmured a few sounds, a smile involuntarily spreading across her face. This kind of day felt a bit intoxicating!
While Tang Zhichu and Zhou Yun were together, some people online had already started complaining.
In the sixth episode of the reality dating show, a bunch of viewers were clamoring for the producers to release early previews—they couldn’t bear to wait any longer.
Since this season only featured three men and three women, and with the music show heavily promoted by Penguin Video launching, the popularity of the two shows was comparable, but the music show was still in its early stages.
So the executives and Li Hongzhou agreed to make this season only seven episodes, just enough to tell the story without dragging it out.
The ending of the sixth episode showed everyone going on a group outing, leaving viewers hanging.
Almost everyone noticed the problems between Tang Zhichu and Chen Siyang.
On the night before the outing, Tang Zhichu and Chen Siyang talked by the wooden boardwalk near the villa but didn’t reach any conclusion.
The next day, they didn’t even want to ride together.
When “Heartbeat” reached episode six, fans who liked Chen Siyang and Tang Zhichu remained the mainstream, but some had begun to criticize.
They criticized the show’s formula and script, asking why they couldn’t have a peaceful ending and why there had to be drama.
They criticized Tang Zhichu for being weak, saying Chen Siyang had already been honest and open with him—why still hesitate?
If he was so proud and afraid of a long-distance relationship, thinking it would hold Chen Siyang back, why choose her in the first place and give her candy? The most infuriating thing was that candy was still a best-selling item now.
Of course, Chen Siyang was criticized as well, with some saying they never believed a girl group idol would do well on a dating show and that she was being overly emotional toward the end.
Since the sixth episode ended, the topic had trended over a dozen times.
Too many people were waiting for the seventh episode—the grand finale.
