Chapter 87: Do You Know the Springy Twin-Tail Shake?
Liu Hanyue was persuaded by Cheng Yao. “Fine. But I’ll only listen to you during work hours, and you can’t make me do anything excessive or anything I don’t want to do.”
“Of course. I’m not that kind of person!”
When the time came, what pose she struck would be entirely up to him anyway.
Cheng Yao cleared his throat twice to ease the atmosphere. When the moment arrived, he would start with springy twin-tails swaying around and satisfy a bit of his own curiosity first.
With Liu Hanyue’s breathtaking looks, her signature twin-tails and flat figure were both selling points. Veterans understood it; men understood it. If he seized on that feature, along with her existing fan base, she might just blow up for a while.
She was the same as Lu Mengyao: neither of them needed a fabricated persona, because each of them already embodied one.
Cute.
Pure.
Unlike Lin Ketong, who had no obvious persona but possessed a strangely bewitching smile, so hers would need to be shaped.
As for Liu Hanyue and Lu Mengyao, they only needed to follow the trend of whatever videos were popular overseas. They did not even need original captions; they could simply copy the foreign ones wholesale. Zheng Yuechan had taught him that too: the fastest shortcut.
So Cheng Yao gave Liu Hanyue a bit of warning in advance, lest she resist too fiercely when the time came.
Liu Hanyue frowned. Her large, watery eyes gave Cheng Yao a vague sense of guilt. He smiled awkwardly. “Don’t worry. I definitely won’t ask anything outrageous of you. At most, it’ll just be things that might make you a little shy.”
“Shy?”
“Right. Things that feel a little embarrassing when you do them yourself. Like wearing some cute outfits, dancing, striking poses, the kind of thing you see at comic conventions.”
“That kind of thing... I can accept.” Liu Hanyue gave in with reluctance.
The more Wang Churuo listened, the more interesting it sounded. “Cheng Yao, Cheng Yao, what do you think of me?”
“You?”
“You could try making me the goofy type.”
“Really?”
Naturally, Cheng Yao did not mind having more useful hands. Wang Churuo was pretty too, easily an eight out of ten, though beside Liu Hanyue she did not look quite as stunning.
Still, her dazed, silly personality was thoroughly likable.
Liu Hanyue said irritably, “Why do you sound like some kind of pimp? Any girl will do?”
“Why not me? I’m pretty too...”
Wang Churuo shot Liu Hanyue an unfriendly look, then turned to Cheng Yao. “Let me join, and I’ll give you a picture of Yueyue in a school swimsuit. From middle school, too.”
“Deal! It’s settled!” Cheng Yao agreed without a second thought.
Little girl, you’re tempting me into a crime.
Liu Hanyue flared at once. “How dare you!”
“I dare.” Wang Churuo’s signs of rebellion under Liu Hanyue’s thumb were becoming more and more obvious.
After joining the others for a while to play basketball, the afternoon major course began.
Once class was over, Cheng Yao received a call from Wang Yiming. The man had made up his mind, but wanted to see the company and the development plan first.
Cheng Yao agreed. None of it was especially confidential.
So the two arranged to meet at five in the afternoon at the coffee shop in Xinjiekou.
Soon after, Cheng Yao successfully received from Wang Churuo the photo of Liu Hanyue in that school swimsuit. Fifteen-year-old Liu Hanyue had still been very small then, though even now she was not exactly tall.
But that air of greenness and tender youth was something she no longer had in quite the same way.
Not that she had ceased to be fresh and delicate now; she had simply grown up. Her cuteness was as constant as ever. This beauty had truly been adorable from childhood all the way to adulthood.
The swimsuit clung close to her body, as if it had been tailored for her alone.
Back in middle school, apart from her looks overwhelmingly outclassing her peers, Liu Hanyue had really been flat as a board, nowhere near someone like Zhou Ziqing.
Fortunately, her face and her eyes saved her.
Otherwise, she really would have had no distinctive charm at all. Yet those two points alone already put her above ninety-nine percent of girls in the world, because some people simply liked the cute type.
Cheng Yao liked cute girls too. He was not picky.
After saving the photo to his gallery, Cheng Yao left campus and drove straight to Xinjiekou. Since Lu Mengyao and Lin Ketong were nearby as well, he told them to come directly to the Burger King near Chaoyang Tower instead.
The meeting place was changed to Burger King, and before long Wang Yiming, dressed in a suit, walked in.
“Boss Cheng...”
“Sit.”
Cheng Yao pointed toward Chaoyang Tower across from them. “Sixteenth floor. Five hundred square meters. I’ve leased it for three years. We’ll try three years first. If it doesn’t work, I’ll shift to another project.”
“All right. I’ve already submitted my resignation at the dealership. I can start work tomorrow.”
“Here’s the contract. Take a look.”
Wang Yiming took it and scanned through it. As a salesman, he knew contracts fairly well. After checking that there were no traps in it, he smiled and said, “The contract is fine. As for the salary...”
“I’ll give you an annual salary of three hundred thousand, plus year-end dividends. If you do well, I’ll raise it.”
“No problem!”
An annual salary of three hundred thousand, along with full insurance, housing fund, and holiday benefits, was completely acceptable to him. Sales manager at the dealership had already been his ceiling, so he needed another path. Men climbed upward as water flowed downward.
So he signed the contract without hesitation.
Wang Yiming asked, “Next comes scouting or training people. We could select a batch from the short-video platform, or poach some with a bit of fame from larger agencies.”
“No need. We’ll train our own. They’re here.”
As Cheng Yao finished speaking, Lu Mengyao walked in. She wore a camisole with a light jacket, looking all in soft white, pure and moving, her practiced innocent charm controlling even the subtlest expression to perfection.
“Hello, Boss Cheng.”
When outsiders were present, Lu Mengyao was far less clingy than usual. “Hello.”
Wang Yiming sized her up and was slightly stunned. This girl was on the same level as Lin Ketong, and that pure, innocent air of hers made her an obvious high-potential prospect.
Cheng Yao said with a smile, “I’ve already prepared the plan. They don’t even need personas.”
“Exactly. They come ready-made,” Wang Yiming said, nodding lightly.
A moment later, Lin Ketong came in as well. Wang Yiming froze for a beat, then finally understood. So Boss Cheng was using the banner of discovering internet celebrities as a cover to build himself a harem.
Cheng Yao pushed a contract toward Lu Mengyao. She gave it a few perfunctory glances and signed her name. Lin Ketong, meanwhile, let her gaze rest on Lu Mengyao, curious about who this woman was and what relationship she had with Cheng Yao.
After the contracts were signed, Cheng Yao said, “I’ll advance half your salary in advance and transfer it tomorrow. First, I’ll take you to see the company location.”
“All right.”
Cheng Yao’s car was parked in a space across the road. At this hour, the tower had already emptied out considerably, with only two security guards sitting by the entrance.
Cheng Yao took out the access pass and entered the elevator.
The elevator went straight to the sixteenth floor. The lights were bright, the view was excellent, and the space was remarkably expansive.
“I’ll buy the equipment over the next few days. Also, Manager Wang, I’ll trouble you to recruit some cleaners...”
“All right. I’ll handle it tomorrow.”
Lu Mengyao asked curiously, “What about photography and editing? It would be best to hire women. Their sense of aesthetics is different.”
Cheng Yao pointed to himself.
Lu Mengyao looked at him, as if asking whether he was serious.
Cheng Yao smiled. “I’ve studied this before, and both my photography and editing are quite good. If I handle it personally, it’s more reassuring.”
“All right, then.”
Lu Mengyao had no real objection. If Cheng Yao did it himself, that was actually better.
Lin Ketong thought for a moment. “What about makeup, lighting, props...”
“We won’t need those for now. Let’s test the results first.”
When they were done, Wang Yiming left, and Lin Ketong also departed.
Lu Mengyao stood at the roadside. When she saw Cheng Yao’s car coming out, she lifted her hand and waved.
