Chapter 61: The Great Lotus Temple – Renowned Far and Wide with Countless Devotees (Part Two)
"Student Beidou?"
Seeing that figure walk past, Jiang Yanxin tentatively called out.
The tall figure paused and turned around.
"You are?"
Yi Beidou looked down at Jiang Yanxin in front of him, a look of confusion in his eyes.
He did not recognize who the girl standing before him was.
"It really is you, Student Beidou! Don't you even recognize me? We were classmates just a month ago!"
Jiang Yanxin stepped forward and looked Yi Beidou up and down.
Classmates?
Yi Beidou had a somewhat hazy memory of this. Back in his university days, he had not yet achieved transcendence and was still undergoing trials. He had closed himself off from the world, and aside from studying, he basically did not interact with anyone, let alone participate in class or club activities. Considering his mental condition, the university administration had even made a special exception, canceling his thesis defense and requiring only the submission of his paper.
Therefore, it was completely normal for him not to remember his classmates.
However, he held no ill feelings toward his college peers; after all, everyone had been quite tolerant of his "eccentric" behavior.
Seeing Yi Beidou's reaction, Jiang Yanxin felt quite helpless.
"I'm Jiang Yanxin. By the way, what are you doing in Siam? Did you come alone? Your autism..."
Jiang Yanxin asked, casting suspicious glances at her surroundings.
Yi Beidou might not remember her, but she had a deep impression of Yi Beidou—or rather, no one in the entire class or year did not have a deep impression of him.
After all, an outlier with certain mental issues, taciturn yet possessing a tall, masculine, and handsome appearance, filled with raw male charm yet carrying an aura of asceticism, standing out like a crane among chickens in a crowd—it would be difficult not to notice him.
The combination of all these traits naturally set people's imaginations wild. It was rumored that some girls in the dormitory building had even drawn fan art of Yi Beidou.
Back then, his autism had seemed quite severe, and he hardly communicated with anyone. How could he possibly appear alone in Siam now?
Jiang Yanxin's mind could not help but conjure up scenarios involving kidnapping and human trafficking.
After all, given Yi Beidou's physique and looks, he would undoubtedly be a prime target.
"My autism has already healed, and now I've come out to take a walk by myself. Thank you for your concern."
Yi Beidou nodded and said.
"Ah, that's wonderful! Would you like to join us?"
Jiang Yanxin said with sparkling eyes.
"No need, I have things to do. Student Jiang, it's nice to see you. Farewell."
Yi Beidou shook his head slightly, spoke to Jiang Yanxin, and then turned and walked away, giving her no chance to say another word.
He was doing this for her own good.
If she got too entangled, the two of them might not even be able to walk out of this Pailian Temple.
The karma of a Human Immortal meant that ordinary people would be shattered to pieces just by getting involved.
"Even your autism is cured, and you're still just as cold."
Jiang Yanxin pouted as she watched Yi Beidou's retreating back.
"Hey, your college crush? Our little Xinxin is so pretty, and he completely brushed you off."
Tian Peijun asked with a smile, hooking her arm around Jiang Yanxin.
"No way? Stop talking nonsense!"
Jiang Yanxin's face flushed slightly.
A crush was out of the question; she had simply looked at the fan art.
So, she recounted what had happened with Yi Beidou at school to Tian Peijun.
"His autism is cured, why aren't you seizing the opportunity?"
Tian Peijun egged her on.
"Enough, enough! I really don't mean it that way!"
Jiang Yanxin was utterly speechless.
"Huh? Your classmate seems to be heading toward the direction of the back courtyard?"
Suddenly, Tian Peijun said with some surprise.
"Ah?"
Jiang Yanxin followed Tian Peijun's gaze and indeed saw Yi Beidou's figure walking toward the entrance of the temple's back courtyard.
"Is he here to draw oracle lots too?"
Tian Peijun asked doubtfully.
"Maybe. I heard his family has considerable influence, but he might just be curious and wanted to take a look."
Jiang Yanxin said.
"I'd say he walked straight over without looking like he was just wandering around. His target is clear. I get it now—his autism being cured must have something to do with the masters at Pailian Temple."
Tian Peijun felt she had uncovered the truth.
"You're getting way too mystical."
Jiang Yanxin shook her head.
"Let's go, let's head over too. Then we'll know what's going on."
Tian Peijun pulled Jiang Yanxin toward the back courtyard.
However, shortly after, their steps froze in place, their eyes wide open and mouths slightly agape.
They saw Yi Beidou standing before the back courtyard gate, where several large monks seemed to be shouting something, apparently trying to drive Yi Beidou away.
Ignoring the warnings, Yi Beidou continued to step forward, and the guard monks immediately raised their weapons, preparing to expel him by force.
Then, they watched as Yi Beidou waved his hand, slapping down the guard monks one by one with a single strike each, sending them crashing solidly to the ground.
Panic erupted among the tourists near the back courtyard, filled with chaotic noise, but Yi Beidou ignored it entirely. He continued forward and struck the heavy red wooden door with a single palm print.
The red wooden door burst wide open with a booming sound, and he stepped into the back courtyard, his figure completely vanishing from sight.
Tian Peijun and Jiang Yanxin witnessed all of this and stood frozen in place, speechless for a long time.
"What on earth is going on with your classmate?! Has he got a death wish?!"
After a long pause, Tian Peijun took a deep breath and asked.
This was Siam! Not back home!
Causing trouble back home would at most result in a prison sentence, but here, vanishing without a trace out of nowhere was completely normal.
Not to mention, this was the Grand Pailian Temple!
"I have no idea either! Let's go take a look!"
Hearing Tian Peijun's words, Jiang Yanxin also realized the severity of the situation, and panic began to show on her face.
Since they had been classmates, she did not want anything bad to happen to Yi Beidou.
"We can go check the situation, but you have to listen to me—you can't act recklessly in a place like this!"
Tian Peijun grabbed Jiang Yanxin's arm and said with utmost seriousness.
Meanwhile.
In the back courtyard of the Grand Pailian Temple.
A tea room outside a grand hall.
The low-profile female celebrity whom Jiang Yanxin had seen earlier, accompanied by her assistant, had arrived at the tea room guided by a monk from the back courtyard. By this time, she had removed her sunglasses and face mask, revealing an exquisite face.
The monk pushed open the doors of the tea room and invited the actress inside. She frowned slightly because there were quite a few people already seated inside.
Some of them were even familiar faces—noted elites and bosses from back home.
"Oh, Ms. Zhou has arrived as well. Care to sit over here?"
A refined-looking middle-aged man stood up and smiled as he spoke to Zhou Bailou.
"So it's Director Zheng."
A polite smile appeared on Zhou Bailou's face. She had collaborated with Director Zheng a few times and considered him a familiar acquaintance, so she did not decline his invitation and walked over to sit in the empty seat beside him.
"Director Zheng, what's going on today? Why are there so many people here? Are the masters refusing to see guests?"
Zhou Bailou asked Director Zheng with some confusion.
"A big shot just arrived. Word is it's the Third Prince of Siam, here on an impromptu visit. The masters are still receiving him, so we'll probably have to wait a while longer."
Director Zheng lowered his voice and told Zhou Bailou.
