Chapter 55 Slaughtering All Intact, the Heart Remains Serene in the Center of Purgatory
The corridor shuddered, the walls caved in, and plaster rained down from the ceiling. Five gunmen lay scattered across the ground, bloodied and battered as if they had been hit head-on by a heavy truck. Meanwhile, the representatives of the five major factions, along with the two remaining gunmen, had collapsed onto the floor, paralyzed by the violent tremors and sheer terror.
They had heard tales of such a terrifying individual, but they had never grasped the reality so vividly.
This was no longer a man. He was a god, a demon, a living weapon, a human tyrannosaurus, a walking artillery shell!
Attacked only yesterday, he had already crossed national borders today, single-handedly scaling a seventeen-story high-rise to hunt them down. Could such a being truly be human?!
Yet, Yi Beidou paid them no attention whatsoever, for Mr. Guo, though grievously wounded, was not yet completely dead.
He intended to finish him off once and for all.
His hands turned into a flurry of afterimages in the air, raining blow after relentless blow upon Mr. Guo's body.
Boom, boom, boom!!
Dust billowed and the building shook, the onslaught lasting a full three seconds before finally ceasing.
The woman in the brightly colored cheongsam, once impeccably styled, was now disheveled, her makeup thoroughly melted by cold sweat. Amidst the terrifying thunder of blows, she could only curl up in a corner, clutching her head and covering her ears tightly, utterly paralyzed with fear.
As the tremors subsided slightly, the primal urge for survival overrode her terror, and she forced herself to stagger to her feet.
Only a single thought remained in her mind: flee this place, escape far away from this demonic monster.
Yet, no sooner had she stood up than her body froze in place. A footstep echoed. Perhaps due to the immense force he had exerted, the man’s ill-fitting clothes had already ripped apart, revealing a physique carved from steel.
However, the woman felt no inclination to admire him. In her mind, she felt only that the man was shrouded in an impenetrable black mist.
His demonic nature was profound, his murderous intent vast as the sea.
"I am the representative of the Li family. Whatever grievance you have has nothing to do with us. We only came here to demand an explanation from Guo Zhenjiang. Let me go, and I can guarantee you a safe departure. Killing me will do you no good..."
Fighting down her overwhelming terror, the cheongsam-wearing woman blurted out these words to the towering, demon-like figure before her at breakneck speed.
Before she could finish her sentence, however, a palm swelled rapidly in her field of vision.
Crack!!
Under the immense force, the woman's neck snapped instantly, her cervical vertebrae dislocating as her head spun a full circle and a half. Her remaining words were naturally choked back down into her stomach.
Her eyes bulged wide, filled with utter disbelief. Right up until her dying breath, she could never have imagined that the man before her would not even allow her to finish speaking.
Meanwhile, as the dust settled, the representatives of the other major factions witnessed this exact scene. Having clearly heard the woman's words moments before, their eyes widened in horror.
Had he been a normal person, he likely would have accepted the woman's conditions. After all, this was their territory, and theoretically, they had no direct involvement in the matter.
Yet this man was different. He showed not the slightest hesitation in his killing.
He was a madman through and through.
"You lunatic! You cannot kill us! Besides, we have no personal grudge against you!"
The round-headed, corpulent middleman screamed hysterically, the string of expensive Buddhist prayer beads in his hand long since scattered to parts unknown.
He was the representative of the Jin family among the five factions, known locally as the "Smiling Tiger." No matter the situation, a smile always hung on his face, yet his methods were incomparably ruthless. For those who provoked him, having their skin peeled and tendons pulled was considered a light punishment.
It was rumored that inside the slaughterhouse bearing his name, a meat grinder sat idle for most of the year, but whenever it was turned on, it was never used for livestock.
Yet, standing before Yi Beidou, not a trace of a smile remained on the fat man's face.
"You show up here and still dare claim you have no connection? You reek of evil qi, like malevolent ghosts walking the mortal realm. Since our paths have crossed today, I might as well send you all back to hell together."
Yi Beidou's expression remained as calm as still water, entirely unwavering.
For these people to appear here at this particular time, it was clear they had long been in contact with the Vanguard Group. Even if they had not known about the operation against him, they were still guilty of sheltering and concealing the Vanguard Group's whereabouts.
Furthermore, under the perception of his Heavenly Demon senses, all of these individuals reeked of malice, undoubtedly perpetrators of countless evils. Slaughtering them all at once was only fitting.
Swish!!
With a flash of movement, he appeared directly in front of the corpulent man, his foot swelling rapidly in the latter's field of vision.
Crack!!
The fat man never managed another word. His entire head burst open like a melon beneath Yi Beidou's foot.
"Aahhh!!"
Triggered by the horrific sight, the remaining individuals felt their eyes split with rage. Realizing this man would never let them go, their feral instincts overpowered their terror. They snatched up their firearms, desperate to mount one final struggle.
Yet, this was no different from a baby gripping a fire poker; it posed no threat whatsoever to Yi Beidou.
Puff! Puff!
Red, white, purple, and green splattered across the pockmarked floors and walls, accompanied by an overpowering, pungent stench.
Anyone stepping into this place would immediately feel themselves plunged into a living hell.
Yet, standing amidst the carnage, the man responsible—Yi Beidou—wore an expression of extraordinary calm. Unlike his usual composure, however, his eyes now radiated a profound sense of peace and tranquility.
He was born a heavenly demon incarnate, and slaughter was his very nature—one he had long suppressed. But now, that true nature had been unleashed.
And rather than being consumed by the flesh and blood, turning into a mindless, bloodthirsty fiend, it was his mind that commanded his flesh.
Manifesting his will, slaying his enemies, purging evil magic, and executing wicked ghosts.
At this very moment, in the dual satisfaction of body and soul, amidst this purgatory of flesh and blood, he felt a deep serenity.
"The target is there!!"
Just then, a flurry of hurried footsteps and shouts echoed down the hallway. Heavily armed internal security guards of the building came surging toward Yi Beidou's position.
"It seems a massive slaughter is unavoidable today."
With an impassive expression, Yi Beidou reached out, grabbed the lifeless Mr. Guo by the neck where he remained embedded in the wall, and yanked the corpse free from the indentation.
By this point, Mr. Guo's body had been severely deformed by Yi Beidou's consecutive bombardments. Yet, how could a physique that had achieved physical sanctification be ordinary? Even after enduring such devastating blows—leaving his internal organs pulverized—his skin and flesh remained largely intact.
"Lend me your corpse."
Dragging Mr. Guo's body, Yi Beidou charged fiercely toward one end of the corridor.
Within the skyscraper, the sounds of gunfire, explosions, and screams rose in waves.
From the outside, the flashes of gunfire could be seen erupting across the upper floors of the building one after another. Occasionally, a window would shatter violently, and figures clad in the security uniforms of the Oledo Group would plunge from the high-rise, screaming as they crashed onto the ground, leaving pools of blood spreading across the pavement.
"A devil!! It's a devil!! A devil has come to the human world!!"
Shortly after, people began fleeing the building in a frenzy, screaming and howling as if they had lost their minds, as though they had witnessed something unimaginably horrific.
These harrowing scenes caused even the cold-blooded observers from various factions, well-accustomed to bloodshed, to feel their scalps tingle.
Tonight, the Oledo Building ran with rivers of blood.
And everything that transpired here was rapidly spreading across the entire city through the eyes of those trembling witnesses.
