Chapter 7: Remember to Transfer Sixty-Eight Thousand
Master Kusa’s face was twisted in terror. He grabbed the retching Cai Zeming with his large hand and scrambled backward toward the bed.
"Daoist Chief Chen! Didn't you retire from the Feng Shui world already?"
"How is this possible? Why would you help the Fu family?"
Chen Fan shrugged and glanced at Fu Ankang. "I am a man who values the spirit of a contract."
"If I give my word, I will fulfill it."
"And if I see something I find intolerable, I will intervene."
Kusa retreated in haste, by which time Cai Zeming had recovered slightly.
"Master Kusa, kill him! Kill him!"
Cai Zeming spat out another mouthful of bile and pointed at Chen Fan. "He made me retch like this—don't let him get away with it!"
Kusa felt like cursing out loud. He knew of Chen Fan’s background and had heard of his reputation. As long as Cai Zeming was innocent, he could have used him as a bargaining chip to ensure his own safe departure.
"Shut up!"
"He is Chen Fan... the man who wiped out a Taoist temple that had stood in the south for three hundred years just because of a mere one hundred and fifty yuan."
"He is a lunatic!"
Kusa gritted his teeth, especially since Chen Fan was a lunatic he stood no chance of defeating.
Chen Fan merely smiled faintly.
Fifteen years ago, he had taken a job. He was helping a young girl find her missing brother. When Chen Fan located the temple and stated his purpose, the people there refused to let him take the boy who had been trained as a medicine servant. They stood in his way, so they deserved to die.
To Chen Fan, the Kusa before him was no different.
"Do you really think you can get away?" Chen Fan asked calmly.
"How would I know if I don't try?" Kusa said in a deep voice. "Daoist Chief Chen, you are not invincible."
"You must let me go, or I will kill him!"
Kusa hoisted Cai Zeming up and used him as a human shield. At this moment, Cai Zeming was stunned, shouting in terror.
"Kusa! What are you doing!"
"I am your employer! If you dare to kill me, you won't get a single cent!"
Kusa let out a low growl. "My life is on the line!"
"Daoist Chief Chen! Let me go!"
Chen Fan simply chuckled and stepped forward. For every step he took, Kusa retreated one, dragging Cai Zeming along. They backed all the way to the window before Kusa stopped. His face was twisted and ferocious as he roared at Chen Fan.
"You forced my hand!"
"Chen Fan, don't think you're invincible! If you dare to interfere in the affairs of the Fu Group, just wait for your death!"
"My people will kill you first, and then wipe out the Fu Group!"
Without giving Chen Fan a chance to respond, Kusa grabbed Cai Zeming by the hair and smashed him into the window glass.
In an instant, the glass shattered.
Dizzy and bleeding from the head, Cai Zeming looked out the window and began to shriek.
"No, no! Don't! Don't throw me down! I don't want to die!"
Master Kusa cursed him and leaped out, dragging Cai Zeming with him. "Shut up! What are you afraid of?"
The tea house suite was only on the second floor; there was nothing to fear from a jump like that... but in the next second, Kusa’s breath hitched. They were jumping into a bottomless abyss!
"There's been a death! People are dead!"
"They walked out and just died!"
"This has nothing to do with my tea house!"
Chen Fan stood by the intact window, watching Kusa and his companion lying on the street below. It was just the backlash of the Heart-Bewitching Curse—reaping what one sows.
He turned around and offered Fu Ankang a smile. "Mr. Fu, remember the sixty-eight thousand via WeChat. Your daughter said you would cover the additional fee."
Fu Ankang stood frozen, finding the whole display miraculous. Ever since Chen Fan started speaking, everything had changed. Cai Zeming and Kusa had walked out of the tea house, started arguing violently, and then... both collapsed and never got back up.
What kind of power was this?
Fu Ankang nodded, and a second later, a sound rang out from Chen Fan’s phone—the pleasant chime of a successful transfer.
Xiao Li, standing to the side, was dumbfounded. He had originally thought Chen Fan was just a gigolo. As it turned out... this man was a deity!
"Mr... Mr. Chen, what exactly just happened?" Fu Ankang couldn't help but ask. "Why did that monk mention my Fu Group and something about a dragon biting its own tail?"
Chen Fan appreciated Fu Ankang’s sense of contract and his willingness to pay, so he patiently explained a few things. Feng Shui formations, drained wealth, leaking luck, and endless misfortune—Chen Fan translated these concepts into terms Fu Ankang could understand.
Fu Ankang’s brow furrowed tightly after hearing the explanation.
"While I was busy with the Liangmian Mountain project, such things were happening to the Fu Group..."
"I apologize for the misunderstanding; I see you are not Xueyue's boyfriend. Though, if you were, it would be even better."
Fu Ankang said the last sentence with utmost sincerity.
Would Fu Xueyue be willing to have her father push her onto him like this? Chen Fan thought about it, and it seemed Fu Xueyue might actually be willing...
"Director Fu, my relationship with Fu Xueyue is purely professional," Chen Fan said seriously.
Fu Ankang nodded to Xiao Li. "Bring the documents. I want to draft a contract with Mr. Chen to discuss a partnership."
Chen Fan truly liked this tendency to discuss contracts at the drop of a hat. He loved people who respected the spirit of a contract.
"Can you also handle matters of the heart, Mr. Chen?" Fu Ankang asked with a light smile.
I can handle marriage, too... Chen Fan muttered to himself. But when a transaction turned into a romance, it wasn't as straightforward as casting spells or laying out formations.
"I think it's better not to treat romance as a transaction," Chen Fan shook his head slightly. "Feelings should be genuine. Even if the intentions are good, once you mix in a transaction, the flavor changes."
"Fair enough."
Fu Ankang was not discouraged. He smiled calmly, "Since you are protecting Xueyue's safety, I would like to ask you to help me secure the Liangmian Mountain project. This is a promise I made to Xueyue. Please, take a look at this contract."
Fu Ankang raised his hand, and Xiao Li handed Chen Fan the newly drafted contract.
"Hmm..." Chen Fan read for a moment, then said in a deep voice, "The additional clause in Article Two needs a slight revision."
