A Killing Move!

He had opened with a killing move!

Chen Fan gave a cold snort. As his vast righteous aura knocked the peachwood sword aside, a vortex of yin energy had already gathered in the palm of his left hand.

Seeing this, Silent Nature immediately retreated, dragging his weakened body away.

“Use orthodox Daoist methods to hunt evil cultivators...”

“Use unorthodox methods to strike down the righteous...”

“With an invincible bearing, ascend to become the Chief Daoist of Great Xia!”

Ghost spirits appeared all at once. Dozens of powerful spirits transformed the already chilly underground storage room into an icy crypt.

From the corner, Silent Nature’s expression changed drastically.

“The density of this yin energy... Even if Senior Brother’s Golden Buddha Body were here, it would probably be defiled!”

The Peachwood Swordsman’s face darkened, and he hurriedly called his peachwood sword back.

The cinnabar coating on the sword had been scraped away, and several notches now marred its blade!

“He’s very strong...”

“I know.” Daoist Windcloud gave a confident, amused laugh. “If he weren’t strong, where would the challenge be?”

“Most likely, defeating him would be like stirring up a gentle breeze—so boring.”

“What I want!” Daoist Windcloud roared with laughter, “is a violent storm! I want heaven and earth to change color!”

“Come, Chief Daoist Chen! Once I kill you, I’ll claim the title of Chief Daoist for myself!”

Daoist Windcloud moved. With both hands forming seals, he summoned violent winds inside the underground room, where little air had been circulating.

The gale churned the yin energy, making the ghost spirits’ forms grow unstable.

The Peachwood Swordsman once more took up a sheet of cinnabar talisman paper and swiftly rubbed it across the peachwood sword.

Arcs of electricity coiled around the sword before vanishing just as quickly.

“Summon the wind and call down the rain.”

“Temper the body with thunder.”

Chen Fan raised his brows slightly, then looked at Yu Yu with curiosity.

“And you? What art do you practice?”

“Heart Bewitchment.”

Yu Yu replied coolly, “The Heart Bewitchment art of the Red Sun Sect.”

“Quite impressive.” Chen Fan arched a brow.

Silent Nature slowly forced himself upright. The bald monk gritted his teeth.

“I can help you hold one of them off!”

“What? You...” Chen Fan glanced back at him and could not help laughing softly. “Heh. Forget it. Just sit there and rest.”

Silent Nature froze. Had he... just been dismissed?

He shook his head and dropped heavily onto the floor.

Forget it. He would sit down after all. His head was pounding!

The Peachwood Swordsman attacked first once more. This time, he did not use sword-control techniques. Instead, he gripped the wooden sword in his hand and moved to stab Chen Fan.

Yet before him stood the Dao-Seeking Vajra, along with several other ghost spirits, blocking his path.

“Merely ghost spirits—how could they possibly withstand heavenly thunder?”

A chill surfaced at the corner of the Peachwood Swordsman’s mouth, and he thrust out with his sword.

But in the next instant, his expression changed drastically.

The Dao-Seeking Vajra had actually caught the peachwood sword, which had been tempered by heavenly thunder!

One had to understand that both heavenly thunder and peachwood swords were weapons designed to counter ghosts and destroy yin spirits!

Ordinary wandering ghosts were no exception. Even a thousand-year-old vengeful ghost would be helpless before such a combination.

And yet Chen Fan’s ghost spirit was not afraid!

A faint Buddhist radiance flickered across the hand with which the Dao-Seeking Vajra held the peachwood sword.

Watching from the side, Silent Nature was at once stunned and heartbroken!

Daoist Windcloud, too, was blocked by the Dao-Seeking Bodhisattva and several ghost spirits.

“Merely ghost spirits, and you think you can stop me?”

Before Daoist Windcloud could finish speaking, the Dao-Seeking Bodhisattva let out a piercing shriek.

Six walls of blood rose into the air, trapping Daoist Windcloud in an instant!

“Damn it!” Daoist Windcloud’s expression darkened as he cursed under his breath.

“You insist on forcing me, do you?”

Daoist Windcloud looked as though he were standing atop a giant blower. Wind filled his clothes until they billowed wildly around him.

The six walls of blood were violently blasted apart!

“With mere ghost spirits, you think you can imprison me—”

Before he could finish, the Dao-Seeking Bodhisattva shrieked again.

The six walls of blood reappeared, trapping Daoist Windcloud securely once more!

Chen Fan looked toward Yu Yu and said calmly, “Why bother? Why insist on coming after me?”

With nothing more than ghost spirits, he had trapped the formidable Daoist Windcloud and forced the Peachwood Swordsman into a bitter struggle!

Their arts had been created specifically to capture ghosts and purge evil!

How could evil cultivators who practiced unorthodox arts dare contend with them?

And yet Chen Fan... was strong.

He was terrifyingly strong!

“We are acting for the sake of justice!”

Yu Yu gritted her teeth. “There are countless strange geomantic incidents in this world!”

“Many geomancers have fallen into evil cultivation and used feng shui to harm people!”

“What is wrong with us for eliminating evil cultivators and supervising the other geomancers?”

Chen Fan shook his head slightly.

“There is nothing wrong with eliminating evil where evil exists. But is possessing great strength itself a crime?”

“Is it wrong simply because I refuse to agree with you?”

Yu Yu’s brows drew tightly together. In a deep voice, she said, “But you admit that you are an evil cultivator!”

“That is correct.” Chen Fan gave a slight nod. “In your eyes, I am an evil cultivator.”

“But in my eyes, evil cultivators and geomancers are no different.”

“The only difference is whether someone is using their abilities to harm others.”

“That is my view.”

Yu Yu clenched both fists and spoke each word distinctly.

“You have killed people!”

Chen Fan shook his head, then nodded.

He shook his head because Yu Yu was utterly impossible to reason with.

He had been explaining things from her standpoint, yet Yu Yu was incapable of putting herself in another person’s place.

He nodded because, since words had failed, only one method remained.

To kill!

To kill until people were gripped by fear!

To kill until they trembled!

Then, naturally, there would be someone willing to listen!

At that moment, Yu Yu had arrived at the same conclusion.

She immediately formed seals with both hands, aiming her palms at Chen Fan.

“Heart Bewitchment!”

The next instant, Chen Fan’s movements froze.

The corners of Yu Yu’s mouth lifted despite her efforts to restrain herself.

She had controlled the invincible Chief Daoist Chen!

They had won!

“Release Daoist Windcloud at once! Send these ghost spirits into rebirth!”

Chen Fan stood where he was and gave a slight nod. He raised his hand and aimed it toward Daoist Windcloud.

The corners of Yu Yu’s mouth curled upward. She was the hero!

The great hero who had brought down Chief Daoist Chen!

“Do it! Quickly!” Yu Yu urged excitedly.

Chen Fan gave another slight nod.

The next instant, Daoist Windcloud’s agonized scream rang out from within the six walls of blood.

“What...?”

Yu Yu’s expression changed dramatically. “I told you to release him! How could you...?”

Chen Fan lowered his hand and raised his brows slightly.

“Fooled you.”
