Chapter 3: Mr. Fu, Please Behave Yourself
“Boss Fu...” Chen Fan raised a hand and blocked Fu Xueyue’s lips.
Fu Xueyue was neither fat nor thin, with a perfectly balanced figure and delicate features.
Those lips... even just by the feel of his palm, seemed so soft.
“What, you took my silence as agreement, and now I’m not even allowed to kiss you?”
Fu Xueyue drew back, crossing her legs in annoyance.
Chen Fan coughed lightly. “Boss Fu, please behave yourself.”
Fu Xueyue:?!
Chen Fan saw it. He saw a gleam in Fu Xueyue’s eyes.
Just like a hunter who had spotted the most robust deer in the forest, deciding to begin a contest of strength and endurance in pursuit.
“Then we don’t have to rush,” Fu Xueyue said calmly.
“Boss Fu, if I said that was just a misunderstanding?”
Chen Fan was a little helpless; he had originally meant to refuse Fu Xueyue.
But the moment he saw Jiang Xiao, he made up his mind and chose.
“Anyway, you already agreed.”
Fu Xueyue said lightly, “We can take it slowly. By the way, your marriage to Jiang Xiao—is it a transaction?”
Chen Fan nodded.
A year ago, Jiang Yue-shan had knelt on the ground, begging him to enter the Jiang family through marriage.
Because his birth chart and feng shui aligned with Jiang Xiao’s, it would benefit the Jiang family.
At the time, Jiang Yue-shan had even smashed his own head bloody. Chen Fan took pity on him and signed the contract, making the deal.
Fu Xueyue did not press further. A sly glint slipped through the corner of her eyes. “You’ve left the Jiang family. You don’t have a place to stay, do you?”
Chen Fan: ...
How should he deal with a female CEO trying to trick him back to her place and then eat him alive? Urgent. Seeking advice online.
“Boss Fu, speeding like this in the city will get your points deducted, won’t it?”
“I can afford the deduction.”
Fu Xueyue gave a soft snort and gradually reduced her speed to a steady pace.
Chen Fan glanced at her but said nothing. Instead, he slowly opened the glove compartment in the passenger seat and took out paper and pen.
“Mister Chen, you’re impressive. You knew there’d be paper and pen here—does that count as divination too?” Fu Xueyue asked, a little surprised.
This was the first time Chen Fan had sat in the passenger seat of the Maybach.
The driver had always been the one behind the wheel, while Chen Fan rode with her in the back.
“This has little to do with feng shui or divination.”
Chen Fan shook his head slightly. “It’s inference. You like using this car when attending social occasions. When you went to the Jiang family to discuss the contract, you drove this car too.”
“So I was sure there’d be at least paper and pen inside.”
“Of course...”
Chen Fan smiled. “I used feng shui divination to confirm my inference.”
“Mister Chen, that sounds like cheating.”
Fu Xueyue teased him.
“Yes. I prefer to call it making reasonable use of one’s own advantages.”
At that, a smile appeared on Fu Xueyue’s cool, distant face.
She stole a sidelong glance at Chen Fan.
She did not quite understand. Even without feng shui divination, Chen Fan was still a humorous, considerate, and charismatic man.
So why did Jiang Xiao treat him that way...?
“Are you drafting a contract?” Fu Xueyue asked curiously, looking at what Chen Fan was writing.
“Yes.”
Chen Fan nodded. “Our previous transaction was terminated. I broke the feng shui layout of the Fu family, so now I need to catch the person who set up the evil formation against them.”
“Even though I no longer need Boss Fu to fulfill the compensation owed to the Jiang family, since I already promised you, even if it was only verbally, this deal should still be carried out.”
For someone who observed the rules of transactions, Chen Fan would keep even a verbal promise.
He did not make promises lightly, but once he did, he would see them through.
“Since it’s a transaction, there has to be compensation.”
Fu Xueyue said calmly, “That is the complete process of a deal. If there’s no compensation, then it isn’t a transaction, right?”
Chen Fan froze for a moment, then smiled and nodded.
Talking to someone who also upheld the rules of trade really was comfortable.
“Mister Chen, if we’re talking compensation...”
“What do you want me to do?”
At this moment, Fu Xueyue was full of confidence.
But Chen Fan could tell that if he truly agreed, Fu Xueyue would accept, and their relationship would become nothing more than a transaction.
Still, Chen Fan was more inclined to treat Boss Fu as a partner, nothing more.
“Fine.” Chen Fan gave a light laugh.
Fu Xueyue’s confident smile stiffened for an instant. She clicked her tongue. “Shameless.”
Some women were strange, especially women like Fu Xueyue, powerful and experienced in reading people.
They would use teasing words to stir another person’s heart, but when that person easily took the bait, they would instead retreat and keep their distance.
“Boss Fu, if you’re unwilling to lower yourself, then I’ll ask for five percent of Fu Group’s shares...”
“Who said I’m unwilling? I am. Write the compensation that way!”
Chen Fan’s hand paused on the pen. He had absolutely not misread her—Fu Xueyue was exactly the type of woman who could flirt with you heatedly when she did the teasing.
But once you tried to flirt back, she would suddenly lose interest.
Chen Fan had wanted Fu Xueyue to lose interest in him, but why did it feel like he had played this move wrong...?
...
The Fu family estate.
In the vast living room, Fu Xueyue dismissed the household staff and changed into a milk-smooth satin nightgown.
She crossed her smooth legs, with Chen Fan’s handwritten contract resting on them.
“The contract is fine. I’ll sign it.”
When Fu Xueyue saw the compensation clause at the end, a trace of girlish shyness appeared in her otherwise cool expression.
“I thought you were joking, so I wrote it a little too much,” Chen Fan said. He had originally thought that when Fu Xueyue saw the service terms, she would back down from difficulty.
But what was with that tender shyness?
Stepping into the bedroom in fluffy slippers, Fu Xueyue looked at Chen Fan with a smiling gaze.
“Mister Chen, I’m so cold. Can you come and hold me?”
She pouted coquettishly, then immediately shut the door.
The sight made a faint smile rise unconsciously at the corners of Chen Fan’s mouth.
It seemed... she was much happier than at the Jiang family.
Shaking his head, he returned to the bedroom. After washing up and changing clothes, he lay down on the soft bed—only to hear a trembling knock at the door.
“Ch- Chen Fan...”
“I’m so cold...”
Chen Fan had not intended to respond, but Fu Xueyue’s voice no longer sounded as full of energy as before.
He hurriedly got up and opened the door. Fu Xueyue was wrapped in a quilt, her small face pale from the cold, even the tip of her nose frosted white.
“Seize the fire...”
