Chapter 13: The Wall of Ten Thousand Swords
Page 1/3
Jun Wen spoke bluntly, “What is there to worry about? You can only catch a glimpse from afar anyway. After all, your dantian is ruined, so no spirit sword would choose you…”
Having said it, he realized he had spoken carelessly again.
In panic, his flying sword trembled and nearly fell.
Feng Xi chuckled softly, “Fifth Senior Brother, I’m not as fragile as you think. When I argued with you before, I was just hurt by your attitude toward me.
Later, upon reflection, I realized you didn’t truly despise me; you just spoke without thinking.
We are sworn siblings; there’s no need for so many reservations. From now on, say whatever you want—I won’t take it to heart.”
Jun Wen scratched his head, feeling more and more that he had been a cad before.
His anger toward Feng Xi that day stemmed entirely from worry about Xiao Baidao venturing into danger to hunt the ice-type beasts. He had no real grievance against Feng Xi; otherwise, he wouldn’t have given her a spirit fruit.
In the end, it was just a case of a soft heart and a bitter tongue.
As they spoke, the two arrived before the Wall of Ten Thousand Swords.
Feng Xi looked up in astonishment at the towering stone wall that pierced the clouds, faintly seeing several spirit swords silently embedded within it.
She once again sensed the ancient aura she had felt at the Xuantian Sect’s mountain gate plaque, a powerful and overwhelming presence that left her deeply impressed.
Before the stone wall lay a flat clearing, stained with blood in patches.
“Little Junior Sister, do you see those bloodstains?
They were left by those who sought swords through the generations. Although there are designated cleaners, the blood has seeped into the stone itself—there’s nothing more that can be done.”
Jun Wen had expected it would be difficult to utter “Little Junior Sister,” but it came out easily.
Feng Xi paid no mind to the title and narrowed her eyes at the Wall of Ten Thousand Swords.
Jun Wen continued, “Last time, Master said the Ten Thousand Swords Cave where I was punished is behind this wall. The sword aura inside is weakened several times; it won’t kill you, but every time you go in, you get roughed up.
Master is biased—eight out of ten times, the punishment falls on me, even though I’m the most sensible…”
Feng Xi responded with chuckles and hums, her gaze never leaving the wall.
She longed for a spirit sword.
The original owner had only possessed an ordinary sword, which was broken by Shen Zhilan during the inner sect selection.
As for spirit swords, she had no status to obtain one in Hunyuan Sect.
Now the opportunity lay right before her.
However, although she could now wield some spiritual power, avoiding the sword aura was a fool’s errand.
So she looked at Jun Wen: “Fifth Senior Brother, is there a way you could shield me from the sword aura and take the sword for me?”
Jun Wen: “…”
You must be joking!
“Little Junior Sister, the sword aura is a test spirit swords give to those who seek them; no one else can do it on your behalf.”
He left unsaid that even if it were possible, why would a useless person like you need a spirit sword? Just for decoration?!
Feng Xi spoke again.
“Must the test be passed? Is it possible that some swords are eager to come out and don’t require a trial?”
Jun Wen thought: …Only if the sword is extremely cheeky!
Feng Xi decided to give it a try.

So, from several dozen yards away, she stretched her neck and shouted,
“Hey, all the swords inside, listen up! I’m Feng Xi, the future glory of Xuantian Sect. Anyone who wants to come with me, step forward now! After this, there’ll be no second chance!”
Jun Wen: “…”
No wonder Master was willing to give her ten Purple Qing Exquisite Fruits—her mind must really be broken!
If shouting could summon spirit swords, why would we have to risk our lives? Are we just idle?!
As for the so-called future glory of Xuantian Sect, he only thought Feng Xi sounded ridiculous.
While he was criticizing, Feng Xi kept shouting.
“Come out!
Staying inside is so dull!
Follow me, and I’ll show you the warmth and chill of the human world!
Follow me, and I’ll let you experience all the splendor of the world!
Follow me, and I’ll take you across mountains and rivers, through heaven and sea—not a sword life wasted…”
There was no response.
Half an hour passed.
Feng Xi kept babbling on, undeterred.
Jun Wen finally couldn’t stand it:
“Little Junior Sister, don’t waste your breath. Let me take you somewhere else!”
Feng Xi sighed, “Fine, blame these unrefined spirit swords. I’ll go to other sects another day to get one!”
Jun Wen: …Talking nonsense again!
“Little Junior Sister, I’ll take you to the East Peak then.”
“Okay.”
After half an hour’s walk, a wooden sword struggled out of the ground, looked around confusedly, and then disappeared back underground.
Where was the promise to show the warmth of the human world?
Where was the promise to see all the splendor?
Where was the promise to traverse mountains and seas, fulfilling a sword’s life?
Where were the people?
A liar!
A big liar!
Meanwhile, Feng Xi, branded a liar herself, strolled with Jun Wen on the East Peak.
Feng Xi noticed the vegetation on East Peak was far sparser than on Middle Peak; most of the land was barren hills with only scattered patches of greenery.
Jun Wen explained, “East Peak used to be Xuantian Sect’s cash cow because there was a spirit stone mine beneath it.
Unfortunately, three thousand years ago, the mine was completely depleted, and our sect became penniless.
Because it’s an abandoned mine, the soil doesn’t support much vegetation, which is why there’s so little plant life on East Peak.”

Feng Xi thought to herself that Xuantian Sect had clearly demonstrated the meaning of… squandering resources.
She beamed, “Fifth Senior Brother, I’ve never seen a spirit stone mine. Take me to see one!”
Jun Wen curled his lips, “What’s so special about an abandoned spirit stone mine? But if you want, I’ll take you to have a look.”
They made their way to the back mountain of East Peak, winding around until they found a cave entrance about as tall as a person.
“Here’s the entrance to the abandoned spirit stone mine.
I heard the original entrance was magnificent, but wind and rain have eroded it without maintenance, so it looks like this now.”
Jun Wen produced a firestarter and led the way into the mine.
Feng Xi followed, entering the dark tunnel.
“Little Junior Sister, it’s pitch dark inside and there’s nothing interesting. Let’s just look around near the entrance.”
Feng Xi nodded, agreeing that there was indeed nothing much to see—stone walls on either side, and a path beneath their feet.
Because no one had set foot here for a long time, moss had grown, and the temperature inside was noticeably cooler than outside.
After walking a short distance, Feng Xi said, “Fifth Senior Brother, let’s go out!”
“Okay…”
Before Jun Wen could finish speaking, the ground shook violently.
His face changed instantly as he grabbed Feng Xi and ran for the exit.
After only a few steps, a thunderous roar came from ahead—the cave entrance collapsed.
Not only that, stones began falling from above.
Jun Wen was nearly frantic.
He summoned the Earth-shattering Sword to chop at the blocking stones. Though he cleared a path, the upper stone wall collapsed noisily.
If not for Feng Xi’s quick reflexes pulling him back sharply, they would have been crushed to pulp.
Soon after, the entire tunnel began to collapse piece by piece, forcing them to retreat continuously.
Finally, they reached a relatively spacious clearing with a circular platform about six and a half feet in diameter in the center.
Seeing the stone walls here were relatively stable, Jun Wen breathed a slight sigh of relief and took out his identity jade token to call for help.
But the message failed to send.
He then tried a communication talisman, but it also failed.
Jun Wen’s heart sank, but he forced a calm expression and tried to comfort Feng Xi:
“Little Junior Sister, don’t be afraid. Once Master and the others sense something wrong here, they will definitely come to rescue us.”
No sooner had he spoken than a stone fell from above, followed by a cascade of rocks.
Jun Wen was on the verge of tears!
Calmness, be damned!
“Little Junior Sister, we’re probably going to be buried alive here!”
