019 School Anniversary Turmoil

After finishing the film, Yunhui Yin returned to school to continue his classes. He was already in the first semester of his senior year and had begun working on his graduation thesis.
Yunhui hadn’t yet decided whether to pursue graduate studies.
After all, Yonsei University is a Protestant school. Due to historical reasons, the undergraduate seminary is very liberal and inclusive in its thinking. However, once one reaches the graduate level, it becomes limited to mainstream Protestant denominations.
Yunhui had followed his grandfather in practicing Catholicism.
If he were to apply for graduate school, he would probably have to choose something like philosophy.
Actually, Yunhui could apply to the university’s social welfare program — which coincidentally aligned with the mission of the Songdu Memorial Foundation.
He met with his advisor, who was a supervisor from the Methodist Church.
This advisor knew Yunhui’s family and was friends with a distant elder relative of his, because Yunhui’s ancestor, Seowong, had greatly influenced the Methodist Church on the peninsula.
After failing to persuade Yunhui to convert, the advisor then tried to convince him to enroll in his graduate program.
But Yunhui, somewhat distracted at the time, refused without hesitation again.
In the end, he chose “What Is the Foreign Woman? The Narrative of the Foreign Woman’s Seduction in Proverbs Chapter Seven” as his thesis topic.
“For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.” (Proverbs 7:19)
Terrifying...
Just like the serpent in Eden seduced Adam and Eve, after his grandfather’s passing, Yunhui faced countless temptations.
The entertainment industry is truly corrupt!
Yunhui furiously wrote his thesis for several days in the old seminary building, but locked away behind closed doors, he produced nothing.
Time marched on to the third week of May.
Yonsei University’s anniversary celebration!
The campus was adorned everywhere with blue decorations, support banners, and flags. Many students pitched tents in the square, enjoying their wonderful college life.
The student council secured sponsorship from a beer brand, bringing several support vehicles and offering limited free beer.
From Monday to Friday, there were student club activities; the weekend brought the most anticipated music festival.
Yunhui had organized manpower early to control access to the open-air theater.
Yonsei’s open-air theater officially holds 7,000 people, but 10,000 tickets had actually been sold for the music festival.
Last year, tickets were priced at 13,000 won; this year, Yunhui raised the price symbolically by 500 won, leaving room for future successors to continue increasing prices.
Of course, this price was still very cheap — barely enough to buy two bowls of ordinary jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) in Seoul, without any meat.
To put it in perspective, last year, the price of two bowls of jajangmyeon could get you a show featuring IU, Twice, and Red Velvet.
Once you leave school, no one treats you like a baby anymore.
This year, for just 500 won more, you could see BTS, PSY, and three of the hottest new girl groups.
Say thank you to President Yin!

As usual, the lineup for the anniversary celebration wasn’t announced in advance, but Yunhui thought, why hide it? Promotion is essential.
When the poster was released, the internet exploded.
Most people might not grasp the online reaction, but within Yonsei, tickets originally priced at 13,500 won were resold at 400,000 won each.
Considering most students only had living expenses, this was an astonishing price.
The last time Yonsei saw such a frenzy was when EXO performed at the anniversary; tickets then resold on the black market for 300,000 won.
But!
Our President Yin introduced an electronic ticketing system this year, binding tickets to student IDs, while canceling most complimentary tickets, switching instead to student clubs purchasing group tickets with activity points.
Yunhui fulfilled his campaign promises, though he still couldn’t solve the problem of ticket scalping for the VIP standing area closest to the stage.
Officially, VIP tickets were awarded to winners of various student activities, provided to students with disabilities or special needs, and given to students who made contributions to the university.
But in the end, Yunhui wasn’t sure who actually received them.
After all, the music festival was co-organized by the student council and the cheerleading squad. Yonsei’s cheerleading squad is famous and operates parallel to the student council.
Under Yunhui’s reforms, VIP ticket rights remained unchanged, still controlled by the cheerleaders.
However, this measure seemed to have saved Yunhui quite a bit of trouble this year.
It was said that the cheerleaders’ activity room was already bursting at the seams, as everyone wanted to get VIP tickets...
This news spread wildly in fan circles as well.
Damn it!
Two bowls of jajangmyeon to see BTS??? So what about the concert scalpers I painstakingly saved for? Am I rich or what???
One month ago, BTS fans were proud and arrogant; one month later, these folks were left only with envy and jealousy.
Suddenly, hashtags like #BTSYonseiAnniversary, #OurPresidentYin, and #YOLO topped the trending charts.
“On the peninsula, 10% of life depends on reason, 90% on emotion.” (From Seowong’s Diary, January 23, 1919)
The wisdom of the ancestors kept chasing after me.
Countless entertainment tabloids reposted the news of BTS performing at Yonsei’s anniversary, forcing Yunhui to chase down paparazzi and obsessive fans all over campus.
There was no way around it; Yonsei is an open campus, anyone can come and go freely.
Fortunately, the music festival with celebrities was only held for one day.
Still, when Junho Lee found Yunhui, the latter was already exhausted.
“What’s going on, Hui-ge?”
“I can’t take it anymore, luckily we hired a professional security company.”
At the backstage entrance of the open-air theater, Yunhui was hiding from the sun. The weather was fine and bright today.
“By the way, why did you come too?”

“Of course, to join the fun.”
Junho Lee spread his hands and casually took a volunteer vest. Today, he was personally acting as the manager, bringing all 12 members of IZ*ONE along.
“I saw a trending term on social media, YOLO. What does it mean? Why is everyone posting ‘Yonsei University, You Only Live Once’?”
“That’s this year’s anniversary theme: ‘Yonsei Only Live Once,’ abbreviated YOLO, you idiot.”
Yunhui sighed.
“I really only live once. After all, I have only one life. It feels even more exhausting than filming a movie.”
Yunhui felt he was getting tanned again.
As someone who used to be a hands-on person, he still maintained his old style as student council president—working alongside all the volunteers under the scorching sun, constantly handling various small emergencies.
“An action movie?”
Junho teased.
Annoyed, Yunhui grabbed a nearby water bottle and threw it at him.
The chubby Junho nimbly dodged, but the person behind him wasn’t so lucky.
“Ah!”
A poor, adorable member of the soft and cute group got hit unexpectedly. She crouched down, holding her head in pain...
Fortunately, the bottle was empty.
The backstage area of the open-air theater was cramped. Whoever arrived had to share a single waiting room per artist group; all rooms were equally small.
Having 12 members made it tough for IZ*ONE, all squeezed together with their assistants and makeup artists.
This year was better; Yunhui tried to reserve rooms for the artists, fearing incidents with overly enthusiastic fans breaking in.
In the past, they had to set up large tents by the roadside.
Neither safe nor private...
But today’s first accident was caused by Yunhui himself.
“Minju unnie! Are you okay?”
One devoted fan who adored her unnie rushed out. A Yujin An, clearly upset but daring not to voice it, glared at Yunhui with her eyes.
“I’m fine...” Minju Kim replied pitifully.
