Chapter 5: This Is a Great Opportunity—Seize It

Mo Qianxun glanced back at the armed police officers, her playful smile fading somewhat. "Yes, they are all heroes, protecting our country and people’s safety. We have many such people!"
Fox Mei’er noticed the seriousness on Mo Qianxun’s face. After a brief pause, she tapped Mo Qianxun on the shoulder. “Having many such people means your country is very safe. You should feel happy about that!”
“I am happy. Without those who bear the burden ahead of us, how could we live so well? I wish I could really do something for them.”
“Don’t underestimate yourself. Your role is important too. Without you, we wouldn’t have such delicious roasted chicken!” Fox Mei’er weighed the roasted chicken in her hand, then spoke mysteriously, “Besides, your chance to help them is right here!”
Mo Qianxun looked at Fox Mei’er, puzzled. A chance? Could it be the Nine Nether Herb? Yes, the Nine Nether Herb could heal wounds.
Fox Mei’er pulled a small white porcelain bottle from her sleeve and looked at Mo Qianxun with a proud expression. “This is an intermediate rejuvenation pill I made myself. Though not as potent as the advanced one, it’s still very useful. When our fox clan fights and exhausts our spiritual power, just one pill can restore eighty percent of it! Its healing ability far surpasses the Nine Nether Herb—it can even save someone on the brink of death!”
Mo Qianxun’s eyes gleamed with excitement as she stared at the bottle. “Really?”
“Of course! When have I ever lied to you? But your mortal body can’t compare to ours. It’s best to dilute it in a basin of water before drinking, or your body might not handle it and could even break down!” Fox Mei’er handed the bottle to Mo Qianxun.
Taking the bottle, Mo Qianxun felt a little shy. “Well, I can’t refuse, then. I’ll gratefully accept it!”
“No need to be shy! The roasted chickens you’ve brought me these past few times have helped a lot. I was stuck at a bottleneck in my cultivation and couldn’t break through no matter what. But after eating the last roasted chicken yesterday, my bottleneck loosened. I estimate a few more times and I’ll break through.”
Fox Mei’er’s two friends cast her envious glances.
“Oh, could you help them get some roasted chicken too? I can only buy five a day, and sharing them with everyone still isn’t enough!” Fox Mei’er said, causing her two friends’ eyes to instantly light up.
Under the gaze of such handsome and beautiful people, Mo Qianxun felt a bit awkward. “Well, I’d love to, but I really don’t have control over the customers.”
“Okay, then I won’t pressure you!”

Suddenly recalling the morning’s scene, Mo Qianxun recounted it to Fox Mei’er.
Fox Mei’er suddenly slapped her forehead. “Sorry, I was careless. Those birds must have been attracted by the spiritual energy of the Nine Nether Herb. When it blooms, its spiritual power is at its strongest. If ordinary animals consume it, there’s a good chance their intelligence will awaken. That’s why it’s so attractive to animals!”
Mo Qianxun gave her a look that said “you should have told me sooner.” If she had, she wouldn’t have left the herb on the windowsill. Thankfully, the glass was made in China; otherwise, she’d have to pay a fortune!
“A gift for you,” said a girl in pink, handing Mo Qianxun a talisman. “Place this at home. It contains a barrier that can block the herb’s spiritual energy. Animals won’t sense it and won’t attack your home.”
“Thank you! If there’s any quota increase, I’ll see if I can help you apply.”
The young man in green beside Fox Mei’er’s expression changed instantly, looking accusingly at the girl in pink. How dare she go behind his back!
After chatting a bit more, Mo Qianxun, as usual, gave a five-star rating and watched them leave.
Once Fox Mei’er and the others departed, the invisible barrier vanished.
The special police brothers hurried over, scanning Mo Qianxun from head to toe. Only after confirming she was unharmed did they relax, their eyes burning with intensity.
Oh my, is immense fortune finally descending upon me?
On the way back, everyone remained taciturn. The special police had no intention of prying; some things are better left unclear. A vague suspicion is enough. As for Mo Qianxun, she was busy organizing her thoughts for the upcoming interview.
Instead of heading back to the special police unit or the public security bureau, the car entered a military district in Jing City.
Inside a conference room, an elderly professor in a white coat and a senior officer in military uniform waited for Mo Qianxun. The screen before them played a video of Mo Qianxun chatting with Fox Mei’er and the others.

“Old Zhao, it seems the heavens are blessing our nation, granting us this tremendous opportunity. We must seize it!” The elderly professor adjusted his glasses, his eyes blazing with fervor.
“Don’t worry, they’re already on their way!” Officer Zhao took a sip of water to steady his nerves. After all, this was the first time he’d encountered such a bizarre and extraordinary matter.
“When you meet the young lady, tone down your temper. Don’t scare her off—she’s not one of your soldiers!” Professor Wang, well acquainted with his old friend’s disposition, felt it necessary to remind him.
Officer Zhao sighed. “Got it, got it. I know how to handle this.”
Soon, Mo Qianxun was ushered into the conference room. Upon seeing the two men, she instantly grew nervous.
Mainly because the man in uniform was familiar—an often-seen senior official on television. The elderly man in the white coat looked somewhat familiar but she couldn’t quite place him.
“Come in, come in, don’t just stand there, have a seat!” The professor warmly pulled her to a chair, his enthusiasm catching her off guard, leaving her even more flustered.
Officer Zhao chuckled lightly at her reaction. “Old Wang, you scared the poor girl.”
Only then did Professor Wang notice Mo Qianxun’s nervousness and apologized awkwardly. “Sorry if I frightened you. I was just too excited. The five plant specimens you brought today are unprecedented. We found that these plants contain numerous highly active molecules that greatly aid in human cell regeneration. Particularly the one in bloom—it has several times the molecular activity of the others.”
Mo Qianxun looked at Professor Wang with a hint of guilt. “Your laboratory… is it all right?”
