Chapter 19: He Has Returned
Chen Min, who was guarding the door, suddenly heard a series of crashing sounds from inside the room. She hurriedly opened the door, only to exclaim, "Where on earth did this giant thing come from?"
The appearance of the sled had crushed Mo Qianxun’s bed. Fortunately, Mo Qianxun had been sitting in the middle of it, or there would have been nowhere left to stand in the room.
"Qianxun, you’re back!" Chen Min breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing that Mo Qianxun appeared to be unharmed.
"Yes, yes. Instructor Chen, hurry, help me get out of here." With the wall on her left and the destroyed bed frame on her right, she was tilted at an awkward angle and couldn't find any leverage to move.
When she had bought this sled, she had chosen it specifically because it was large and spacious. Who could have foreseen that her room would be so small?
"008, next time, can you please transport me to an open space? My room is way too small," Mo Qianxun muttered, bracing her left hand against the wall as she struggled to stand.
[I’ll make a note of that for next time!] Seeing Mo Qianxun’s predicament, 008 was struggling to hold back laughter and promptly went offline after speaking.
Chen Min sent someone to report the situation to Zhao Jianguo before rushing over to help Mo Qianxun. She stepped onto the ruined bed and extended a hand to pull her up. After much effort, she managed to free Mo Qianxun, just as Zhao Jianguo arrived with his team.
Upon seeing the chaotic state of the room, Zhao Jianguo’s expression was indescribable. The object was simply too large—it wouldn't even fit through the doorway!
Mo Qianxun realized the problem as well. She looked at the door, then back at the sled, and scratched her head in embarrassment. "So… what do we do about this?"
"How about we take it apart? We can reassemble it once we get it outside," suggested one of the team members. There was an equipment research institute next to the base that might be able to help.
"I don't think that's a good idea. The main power source for this sled is an internal magic circle. If we damage it even slightly, the whole thing might be ruined," Mo Qianxun said, looking at the sled with concern.
"A... magic circle?" Chen Min and Zhao Jianguo stared at her in disbelief.
Mo Qianxun nodded. "I’ll explain later. Let me see if there’s an instruction manual or something inside."
Unexpectedly, there was indeed a piece of paper. However, the text on it was… unrecognizable. What was this? English? It didn't look like it! Chen Min and Zhao Jianguo peered at the paper, and both of their expressions became equally bewildered.
"008, 008, come back online! Does the system have a translation function?"
After a bout of hysterical laughter, 008 heard Mo Qianxun’s call, composed itself, and logged back in.
[Host, what’s the matter?]
"This sled is too big. I wanted to see if the manual has a way to shrink it, but we can't read the text at all!" Mo Qianxun showed the content to the system.
[Is that all? Piece of cake. A universal translator—you deserve to have one!] A menu bar suddenly appeared next to 008’s virtual avatar, and it indeed featured a translation function, though it was currently locked.
"This translation function costs 10 points? 008, you're a real rip-off!" Mo Qianxun sighed upon seeing the price.
[Host, trust me, you won't regret this purchase. Once you have it, any text can be translated into a language you understand, with no limits on location or usage frequency!]
Zhao Jianguo’s eyes lit up. This was interesting. "Qianxun, buy it!"
Since Zhao Jianguo had given the word, Mo Qianxun didn't hesitate and clicked purchase. With the system's translation, they finally understood the contents: there was indeed a spell to shrink the object.
"I don't have any magic. Will this spell work for me?"
[Don't worry, Host. It will work. This spell acts more like a verbal command; you can use it even without magical ability.]
"Alright, let me try!" Mo Qianxun recited the spell.
The sled suddenly emitted a white light and began to shrink at a visible rate. Zhao Jianguo and Chen Min watched in fascination, picking up the now-miniature, model-sized sled to examine it closely.
"Who would have thought that this little thing was so huge just a second ago?" Chen Min remarked, looking at the sled in Zhao Jianguo’s hands.
Mo Qianxun took off her winter coat and handed it to Chen Min. "There's a constant-temperature magic circle inside this coat. If you wear it, you don't have to worry about even the coldest weather!"
Chen Min paused for a second before quickly putting on the coat. She exclaimed in surprise, "It’s true! There seems to be a temperature control system in here. It’s so warm!"
Zhao Jianguo immediately handed the sled to Chen Min and took the coat to examine it. "If all our border guards could have gear like this, how wonderful that would be!"
"By the way, I still have a backpack full of equipment. You should see if any of it is useful. Some are just standard gear, but others have magic on them too."
"Tsk, I’m starting to envy you. Tell me, what is the magic world actually like?" Chen Min asked, looking at Mo Qianxun with curiosity.
Mo Qianxun thought for a moment. "When I arrived, it was the middle of the snowy season. I don't know how many days it had been snowing, but the snow on the ground was waist-high—it was incredibly difficult to walk. That’s why I bought the sled. Oh, and the mages there brew potions just like in cartoons; their walls are lined with the tails and heads of all sorts of creatures. It looked quite terrifying."
"All sorts of creatures?"
"Yes, I vaguely remember one of them being the head of a dragon, like in Western stories!"
"A Western dragon? Isn't that just a lizard with wings?"
Mo Qianxun and Chen Min chatted about their experiences.
"Qianxun, come to my office once you’ve changed clothes," Zhao Jianguo said, looking at Mo Qianxun’s pajamas as he turned to leave.
"Oh? Right, understood!"
Half an hour later, in Zhao Jianguo’s office, Mo Qianxun recounted everything that had happened in full detail.
After listening to the entire story, Zhao Jianguo put down his pen. "So, you’re saying that 008 cannot control where you end up when you teleport next time?"
"It seems so. If the client places an order using the courier function, once the order is successful, I am transported immediately, no matter where I am."
Zhao Jianguo pondered for a long time. "Is there no way to delay it?"
"It seems unlikely!"
"Fine. I will discuss this with my superiors. It’s best if incidents like today’s don't happen again." It had kept him anxious all morning. "By the way, the food from Qingqiu is almost ready. Ask them when you should deliver it!"
"So soon?"
"I told them there was no rush and to take their time, but they were in a hurry to get back to celebrate their wife's birthday, so they finished ahead of schedule." Remembering the look on the state banquet chef's face, Zhao Jianguo just wanted to huff. As if he didn't have a wife—what was there to show off about?
