Chapter 59 I Have Another Brilliant Idea!
After filming the previous little easter egg, Wen Muye had the post-production team get to work immediately, demanding it be finished within a single day.
Regardless of when it would be used, they needed to have it ready first.
Even if it just sat there.
Zhou Le was present when the order was given, and he could palpably feel the deep resentment emanating from the overworking staff.
It was just like his former boss—regardless of when something was needed, and regardless of whether it would ever be used in the future, you had to produce it right this second.
Feeling a strong sense of empathy, Zhou Le bought them pizzas and milk teas right on the spot.
It didn't cost much, but at the very least it would cheer people up, and perhaps they would take good care of his edits later on.
These were just minor tricks to win people over.
As it turned out, the strategy worked wonders. Although the staff had always greeted Zhou Le when they crossed paths, the smiles on their faces became much more genuine after that day.
After all, who would give a cold shoulder to someone willing to treat overworked corporate slaves to milk tea and midnight snacks?
With the accumulation from the previous film and the past few days of shooting, his experience points finally hit the 6,000 mark.
Zhou Le noticed that gaining experience points was becoming increasingly difficult. In the past, no matter how casually he performed in daily life or on set, his experience points would steadily rise. Now, however, the demands on his acting skills were much higher; if he uttered even a few insincere words, the experience bar wouldn't budge at all.
Sitting in his hotel room, Zhou Le rubbed his hands in eager anticipation. After bestowing so many skills completely unrelated to acting, it was finally time to drop a legendary item, right?
While summoning deities was incredibly useful, the subsequent physical toll was so severe that Zhou Le had barely used it a few times.
As for acupressure and massage, those had basically been applied entirely to the female artists.
The system had neither offered a tenfold initial draw nor any beginner perks upon startup, but judging by the current progress, it was about time.
Soon, various characters began to flicker across his vision.
[Dancing]
Seeing this entry, Zhou Le's face lit up with joy.
Although dancing had nothing to do with acting, it was indeed a basic skill an entertainer should possess.
[Comprehensive Dance]
Seeing this made Zhou Le even more ecstatic. While a comprehensive category might lack specialization, he wasn't a professional dancer anyway; as long as he knew how to dance, that was enough.
"I'd even take a beginner-level pass in all types of dance," Zhou Le prayed in his heart.
[Pole Dancing: Mastered]
Zhou Le: "???"
"What the hell is pole dancing? Is this thing even decent? And a guy dancing on a pole... that sounds even less decent, doesn't it?"
"Is this system trying to make me walk all the way down the path of moonlight moonlighting?"
He felt his face flush red with anger.
"I'm seriously angry!"
However, the system offered no response.
Subsequently, Zhou Le searched the internet.
[Pole dancing is a novel form of sport and dance that uses a vertical metal pole as a prop, integrating various dance styles such as jazz, modern dance, folk dance, ballet, yoga, belly dance, and Latin dance, while combining elements of acrobatics, artistic gymnastics, and fitness training.]
After looking through the descriptions, Zhou Le realized it might not be entirely useless.
Because after acquiring the pole dancing skill, he found a wealth of experience in various other dance genres inexplicably flooding into his mind.
"Forget it, it just sounds bad to say out loud... but as long as I keep it to myself, who's going to know that my specialty is pole dancing?"
Filming resumed.
According to the plot, after the group met Sihui, played by Tan Zhuo, in a bar, the sales channels for the medicine truly opened up.
The scenes set in India would be filmed on location by the crew later on.
That evening, they shifted locations to an indoor set.
Tonight's shoot consisted of night scenes set inside a nightclub.
Two scenes were scheduled for the night. The first involved Lu Shouyi, played by Zhou Le, bringing Cheng Yong to meet Liu Sihui. In this segment, Sihui wore a very sexy outfit and performed a pole dance.
The second scene featured the group celebrating after making a profit, using cash to make the nightclub manager get up on stage and dance.
Inside the nightclub, the lighting was dim and flickering with colorful strobe lights.
The music was heavy and upbeat.
The background extras were already in position.
Tan Zhuo had also changed into her costume.
As the cameras rolled, Tan Zhuo began to dance around the pole.
Her jet-black hair flowed like silk, and large patches of her fair skin were exposed, exuding a deep, mature charm that was enhanced all the more by her dance.
This sequence of shots was relatively short.
It only lasted about ten seconds in total.
After delivering his lines, Xu Zheng turned to Zhou Le with a smug look on his face.
"How was that?"
Zhou Le nodded repeatedly. "Now *that's* an invigorating show!"
Indeed, it was utterly invigorating!
Even ordinary pole dancers were exciting to watch, let alone a professional actress.
It was just a pity the footage was too brief. In some of the nightclubs Zhou Le had been taken to previously, there were even more exhilarating sights to behold.
Still, they were shooting a movie, and Zhou Le was quite satisfied just getting to witness this much.
Next came the sequence where the nightclub manager was made to dance.
Although it was somewhat hard on the eyes—culminating in the manager stripping off his clothes—the atmosphere on set remained electric, and Zhou Le couldn't help joining in and cheering.
This segment was filmed exceptionally smoothly.
Zhou Le figured it might be partly because the background extras hired for the scene were already accustomed to such environments.
Moreover, through his acting in this sequence, Zhou Le gained significantly more experience points than he did during normal shooting.
After all, in the story, he was portraying a sick patient who had never stepped foot in a nightclub before.
Even though he acted thoroughly hyped up, he still restrained himself quite a bit.
Once these scenes wrapped up, Xu Zheng and Ning Hao casually suggested that everyone simply stay and have some fun. The extras could all have a drink, and any alcohol available in the venue was fair game.
It would all just be written off as props consumption for the shoot anyway.
The only rule was that the extras shouldn't come over to bother them; other than keeping things from getting too out of hand, everyone was free to let loose a little.
The main cast members sat together in a large booth, which happened to be the best spot in the house.
Zhou Le broke his usual habit and poured himself a glass of liquor.
Though he could only take tiny, cautious sips.
As they drank and chatted, Wen Muye set down his wine glass, his gaze fixed intently on the stage.
Suddenly, he spoke up, "I've got another idea!"
Everyone's heads snapped around to look at him in unison.
"Director Wen, what kind of idea do you have this time? Your last idea messed me up so badly, making me look like I had some sort of dysfunction."
Wen Muye chuckled. "Brother Zheng, wasn't that line your own idea? It had nothing to do with me, and you certainly can't blame Le'er—he was just playing along with you. So, should I share this new idea or not?"
Xu Zheng slapped Ning Hao on the thigh. "Out with it! Why wouldn't you? A good idea is only a good idea if you share it. Besides, you're the director of this film, so we all have to listen to you!"
Wen Muye's enthusiasm spiked instantly. "You said it yourself, Brother Zheng! Sister Tan went up there and danced just now, so I suggest that each of you leading actors should go up and perform a routine. We can use the footage for promotional materials later."
"Hiss—"
Everyone drew a sharp breath.
"Old Wen, aren't you afraid of blinding people's eyes? Look at me—does this look of mine seem suitable for that?" Xu Zheng asked.
"Suitable, this exact look makes it perfect! Isn't everyone talking about contrasting vibes these days? Yes, that's the one. Only if *you* go up there and dance will it generate any comedic effect."
Xu Zheng raised his glass. "Fine then. I'll make the executive decision for all of them—we'll all go up and dance. But under one condition: the director has to set an example for us first. Otherwise, we won't know how to proceed. Right, guys?"
Wen Muye had anticipated that Xu Zheng would say something like that.
He figured that since he was the director, he could simply cut his own dance performance out of the final edit later on.
Without missing a beat, he stood right up. "Dance it is! What happens if someone backs out?"
"Whoever backs out is a coward!"
Zhou Le looked at the lot of them with a dumbfounded expression.
"They really know how to party!"
