Chapter 10: Just Put Xuan Bao'er’s Name on the Company!
The group, filled with anticipation, hurried into the conference room. At the very center of the front row, Chairman Zeng sat with a grave expression, his mood uneasy. Once everyone was seated, Zeng Jiacai spoke calmly, “I have an urgent matter to discuss with all of you.”
The attendees looked expectant but grew puzzled upon seeing Zeng Jiacai’s troubled face. At that moment, Wu Yufei smiled and asked, “Chairman Zeng, have we landed a new film or TV drama project?” Wu Yufei was accustomed to interrupting in front of Zeng Jiacai, as it was a frequent occurrence.
Zeng Jiacai glanced at Wu Yufei, a wave of irritation rising within him. If not for her, he wouldn’t have had such a falling-out with Yang Mi, nor would Jiaxing have reached this point. Yet, Zeng Jiacai dared not mention anything about Yang Mi, especially after Mr. Zhang’s warning that some matters must not be spoken of lightly.
Taking a deep breath, as if summoning great courage, Zeng Jiacai finally announced, “I have an announcement to make. Jiaxing Media has been acquired. From now on, I am no longer the chairman. I bid you all farewell.”
His words fell like a thunderclap, leaving everyone in the room stunned. Many couldn’t even process what they had just heard, thinking they must have misheard.
“Chairman Zeng... what did you say?” Wu Yufei, sitting close by, asked in disbelief.
Zeng Jiacai repeated, “The company has been acquired. That’s all there is to it.”
He then let out a long sigh of relief, the tension on his face melting away, revealing exhaustion. This time, everyone heard it clearly. The entire room was frozen in silence before erupting into chaos.
“What’s going on? Chairman Zeng, are you joking?” Several popular artists were utterly shocked. “Why would you sell the company out of the blue?”
Even the two shareholders were stunned. “Chairman Zeng, the company was acquired? You can’t be serious! Shouldn’t you have consulted us before making such a sudden decision?”
Of course, the most shocked was Wu Yufei. As the company’s top star at the peak of her career, she had been eagerly hoping for a good project from Zeng Jiacai. And now, the company was sold? For Wu Yufei, it was as if the world had changed overnight.
“Chairman Zeng... what exactly is going on?” Wu Yufei asked nervously, fearing her hard-earned future might be ruined.
Faced with the uproar, Zeng Jiacai seemed weary and sighed, “I know this is sudden, but it truly happened just like this.”
Wu Yufei and the others were left speechless, feeling as if his words meant nothing.
Zeng Jiacai continued, “To the two shareholders, you will receive appropriate compensation, so rest assured.”
“Is there anything else?” Zeng Jiacai asked, unwilling to stay any longer. The contract was signed, and the handover was to be handled by the Baoli Group, which operated without much formal process.
Wu Yufei stood and pressed, “Chairman Zeng, could you at least explain why? What exactly happened?”
Zeng Jiacai cast a weary look at her and said coldly, “I am no longer Chairman Zeng. As for what happened, I have nothing to disclose.”
Wu Yufei’s expression fell, filled with regret and frustration. Just as her career was about to take off, such a change occurred. She pressed further, “Chairman Zeng, what about our previous contracts? Are they still valid?”
Zeng Jiacai replied indifferently, “Discuss that with the new chairman tomorrow.”
He was tired of wasting words on someone soon to be out of the picture. Rising, he declared, “That’s all. Meeting adjourned.”
Without looking back, Zeng Jiacai left the room, leaving the conference in an uproar. The company had been acquired, and no one knew by whom. This meant the old order would be shattered. Perhaps the company had problems that led to the acquisition. The artists were anxious, and Wu Yufei was especially unsettled. The foundation she had painstakingly built might now be wasted.
Still, she comforted herself, believing that as long as she courted the new chairman well, she would remain the company’s top star.

Meanwhile, in a villa in Huazhou Junting, Li Qing, a man of immense wealth, was playing in the courtyard with Xuan Bao’er, making mud pies.
“Daddy, aren’t you tired?” Xuan Bao’er asked, sitting down on the ground after watering the flowers she had planted, looking up at Li Qing with her adorable face.
Seeing Xuan Bao’er’s hands covered in mud, Li Qing smiled. “Daddy’s not tired. Are you tired, Xuan Bao’er?”
Playing in the mud was a child’s nature, their earliest contact with the natural world. Li Qing didn’t think it would harm her health; on the contrary, it could boost her immunity, a fact supported by science.
Xuan Bao’er, sweating from her busy play, laughed, “Xuan Bao’er’s not tired either, Daddy! Look at the flowers I planted!”
Li Qing gently touched her chubby cheeks, smiling, “The flowers you planted are beautiful! Daddy will give you a big garden. Do you want one?”
Hearing about a big garden, Xuan Bao’er was thrilled. “Xuan Bao’er wants one! Daddy is so nice!”
She then kissed Li Qing’s cheek softly, warming his heart immensely.
“Qing, the arrangements are settled,” Wang Mian said, returning and greeting Xuan Bao’er with a smile. “Xuan Bao’er is planting flowers? How lovely!”
Wang Mian’s attempt at a childlike tone sounded a bit awkward.
Li Qing chuckled. “Xuan Bao’er, you keep playing here. Uncle Wang and I need to talk.”
Engrossed in her play, Xuan Bao’er didn’t even look up. “Okay, Daddy!”
“Daddy, when will you take me out to play?” she asked.
Li Qing paused, suddenly realizing she had never been out to play before. He answered gently, “Tomorrow, I’ll take you out, alright?”
After settling Xuan Bao’er, the two men stepped aside. Wang Mian smiled, “Qing, Jiaxing has been acquired, much like a zero-cost purchase. That old guy Zhang Maosheng really knows what he’s doing.”
Zhang Maosheng was the investor behind Zeng Jiacai.
Li Qing replied calmly, “Register the company under Xuan Bao’er’s name. Find someone to manage it.”
Wang Mian nodded, “Already found the person.”
“By the way, Qing, Jacqueline, CEO of Bonpoint Group, has invited you to tonight’s foreign company gathering in Modu. Also attending are CEOs from Estée Lauder, Gucci, and other international brands. They want to meet you, probably because they plan to open new branches and want to size you up.”
Li Qing raised an eyebrow. Bonpoint was a high-end international children’s clothing brand with a huge domestic market, and Baoli Group had invested heavily in it.
He wasn’t concerned about their attempts to assert dominance but instead looked at Xuan Bao’er and murmured, “Children’s clothing... just right. Let Jacqueline design some outfits for Xuan Bao’er.”
Wang Mian was slightly surprised, then smiled. “Haha, Qing, you really pay attention to details.”
