Chapter 7: A Match Made in Heaven
“Ziqing!”
Shuyun Lin stopped her younger sister. “No matter what, Mr. Xiao saved Dad’s life. You should at least show some courtesy.”
“Sis, don’t be too polite with him. I only agreed to Dad’s request because he’s Dad’s savior. Otherwise, I wouldn’t even give him a glance,” Ziqing Lin said angrily.
“Xiao, listen to me. I’m only agreeing to this temporarily to keep Dad in check,” Ziqing said fiercely. “I will never marry you. I might get engaged to you, but marrying you? That’s just a pipe dream.”
Nan Xiao shrugged indifferently.
If it weren’t for Ziqing being a pure yin type, he wouldn’t care about marriage at all.
He could feel that being around Ziqing somewhat suppressed the fiery poison within his body.
Even if he didn’t marry her, it was best to stay close to her for the next couple of years.
Who knew? He might find a way to solve his problem through her.
“Mr. Xiao, my sister has that kind of temper. Don’t take it to heart,” Shuyun Lin sighed and tried to comfort Nan Xiao.
Nan Xiao didn’t mind and smiled, shaking his head. “It’s nothing. After all, I chose to marry Miss Lin the Second because I like her temperament.”
That remark infuriated Ziqing Lin. Had Shuyun not been there to calm her down, she might have stopped the car then and there to have a life-or-death showdown with Nan Xiao.
The rest of the journey passed in silence.
The villa where the two Lin sisters lived was called Jade Mountain.
In Luo City, the housing prices here were top-tier, with even a townhouse costing over fifty million.
Nan Xiao was already familiar with the Lin family’s wealth, so he wasn’t surprised.
He brought some of his luggage inside.
Shuyun Lin arranged for Nan Xiao to stay in the spacious, bright master bedroom on the first floor, which had a private bathroom.
Nan Xiao lay on the bed, fiddling with a small token.
The token was black, made of wood, and emitted a faint, subtle fragrance. It was carved into the shape of a dragon.
This token was called the Heavenly Master Token. According to the old man, whoever held this token could take over his organization.
Whether that was true or not, Nan Xiao did not know yet. He let out a long sigh.
Thinking that the old man might have already passed away, sorrow filled Nan Xiao’s heart.
The old man had raised him for years and was his closest person.
Yet that old fellow left behind only a cryptic message before disappearing as his end approached.
This made Nan Xiao suspicious.
The old man was the strongest person Nan Xiao had ever seen in the world; he simply couldn’t believe he had died so easily.
Nan Xiao wondered how his seven senior sisters were living down in the valley.
With this thought, Nan Xiao took out an old photograph from his pocket.
The photo had yellowed and faded with time, but one could still make out seven girls and one boy.
The boy looked about four or five years old and resembled Nan Xiao closely.
The seven girls ranged in age; the older ones graceful and elegant, the younger ones with delicate, refined features.
Nan Xiao stopped dwelling on the past. Sitting cross-legged on the bed, he began cultivating the heart method the old man had taught him—the Heavenly Medical Sacred Art.
Martial cultivation was divided into innate and acquired martial artists.
Acquired martial artists honed their muscles and bones until their bodies became as solid as iron, their punches carrying thousands of pounds of force.
Innate martial artists, however, circulated true energy for their own use.
When an innate martial artist reached mastery, they could strike from a hundred meters away, snatching an enemy’s life with ease—true masters.
Innate martial artists were exceedingly rare, requiring not only perfect bone structure but also immense fortune.
Nan Xiao had been nurtured with various spiritual medicines by the old man from a young age, entering the innate martial ranks at ten.
Many acquired martial artists spent their entire lives stuck at the threshold of the innate level, unable to advance.
This was why Xu Wei was so surprised Nan Xiao could use his Qi Fate Needle.
A vast vitality rose from Nan Xiao’s dantian, circulating throughout his body.
He continuously strengthened his bones and muscles with his true energy.
A thousand years had passed since the last era.
When Nan Xiao came back to his senses, the sun had already set beyond the mountains.
Unfortunately, due to suppressing the fiery poison within him, Nan Xiao’s cultivation had made no progress.
He had been stuck in this bottleneck for years, unable to break through.
Before descending the mountain, the old man had specially instructed him to investigate who had cursed him with the fiery poison and to uncover his origins.
But the old man warned that finding his parents would not be easy.
Only upon reaching the Divine Immortal realm of the land would he have a chance.
The old man once said martial artists in this world were categorized as acquired, innate, Golden Core, Nascent Soul, Spirit Transformation, Void Return, Dao Union, and Tribulation Crossing.
Once stepping into the Golden Core realm, one could soar ninety thousand miles and become a true land immortal.
Afterward came the Nascent Soul realm, which few ever achieved.
The realms beyond were even harder to reach, and no one had broken through to them so far.
Back in his room, Nan Xiao took a comfortable shower and didn’t continue cultivating but fell asleep on his bed.
The next morning, when Nan Xiao entered the living room, Ziqing Lin was sitting on the sofa, a faint smile still on her lips.
Upon seeing Nan Xiao, her smile instantly vanished, replaced by a chilling frost.
“Where’s Miss Lin?” Nan Xiao asked curiously.
His question provoked a murderous glare from Ziqing.
“My sister went to the company. Do you think she’s your maid, here to attend you every moment?”
“I’m telling you, Nan Xiao, if it weren’t for you saving my father, I wouldn’t let you set foot in my villa!”
Ziqing exploded at him like a powder keg and eventually kicked him out of the villa.
Fortunately, she had some conscience, knowing Nan Xiao hadn’t eaten breakfast, and handed him a freshly ordered takeout to hold.
She said she didn’t want the villa to be only the two of them, as it felt awkward.
Locked outside, Nan Xiao rubbed his nose helplessly, holding the takeout as he headed down the mountain.
He planned to buy some medicinal herbs at the foot of the mountain.
After walking for a while, he unexpectedly ran into two familiar faces—Yadong Li and Meina Xie.
They were there to check out the wedding house.
Seeing Nan Xiao at Jade Mountain surprised both of them.
When they saw the takeout in his hand, Yadong burst out laughing.
“You scared me! I thought this country bumpkin was here for something important. Turns out, he’s delivering takeout!”
“That’s quite something—just arrived in Luo City and already got such a good gig,” Meina sneered, covering her mouth.
“Yesterday, I saw Miss Lin so close to him and thought they were good friends. Now I see it’s nothing like that.”
“Meina, what nonsense! How could Miss Lin associate with a bumpkin like him?”
“Miss Lin was just curious about someone she’d never seen before. Do you really think she’d be friends with him?”
Yadong chimed in supportively.
Listening to their endless chatter, Nan Xiao shook his head with a smile.
Meina frowned. “What are you laughing at?”
“I’m laughing at you two—are you sure you brushed your teeth this morning? Your breath stinks,” Nan Xiao sneered.
“Damn, are you asking for trouble?” Yadong narrowed his eyes.
Nan Xiao ignored him, fixing his gaze on Meina.
“Meina, have you thought this through? Are you sure you want to be with Yadong?”
“If you want to be with him, I advise you to prepare to be a lonely widow.”
