Chapter 50: It Was Actually True

Inside the laboratory, Li Changtian exchanged a glance with his son, Li Yadong.
The excitement in their eyes was unmistakable.
This was nothing short of heaven’s blessing upon the Li family.
For all these years, they had struggled bitterly at the level of a second-rate family.
At last, their chance to rise had arrived.
“Divine Doctor Pan, we owe you a great deal. The successful development of the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills would never have been possible without you,” Li Changtian said, clasping Pan Guangxing’s hand tightly.
The formula Li Yadong and the others had found called for two extraordinarily expensive ingredients.
If the pills were produced on a large scale, the cost would be staggering.
For the Li family, who had already decided to turn the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills into a supreme money-making machine, that was unacceptable.
The reason they had spent nearly half a month developing the pills was primarily to find inexpensive substitutes for those two ingredients.
In the end, under the guidance of Pan Guangxing, the divine physician, they had finally succeeded.
Of course, because several ingredients had been altered, the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills they had developed could only be considered a lower-grade version of the original formula.
Yet according to their tests, even this inferior version, though far less effective than the original prescription in many respects, still possessed astonishing properties when it came to beautifying and rejuvenating the skin.
Faced with Li Changtian’s praise, Pan Guangxing merely inclined his head slightly, narrowing his eyes without saying a word.
Inside, however, he was trembling with excitement.
For years, as one of the three great divine physicians of Luo City, he had lived beneath the radiance of Divine Doctor Xu.
The Li family regarded the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills as their battle to rise again.
Pan Guangxing regarded them in much the same way—as his own battle to surpass Divine Doctor Xu.
He had absolute confidence that once the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills were released, they would create a tremendous sensation in Luo City and even in the pharmaceutical market of the entire Dragon Nation.
And as the chief developer of the pills, his dream of surpassing Xu Wei and becoming Luo City’s foremost divine physician would soon be within reach.
As for the fact that the formula for the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills had been picked up off the street?
Who knew that?

Who knew they had found it?
Now that they had successfully developed the medicine, the formula belonged to them from that moment onward.
That day, nearly every major media outlet in Luo City, along with countless obscure ones, gathered outside the entrance of Li Pharmaceutical.
Li Pharmaceutical was holding a press conference for its newest creation, a drug called the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills.
They had long since confirmed that the pills were remarkably effective and would become a runaway success once released.
The Li family had therefore thrown caution to the wind, investing vast sums in advance publicity.
That was why the press conference had attracted such a lively crowd.
“President Li, I’ve heard that your Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills can make freckles, acne, crow’s-feet, and all the other skin problems that trouble women disappear completely within just three days, while visibly improving the skin and making people look several years younger. Is that true?”
A female reporter squeezed her way to the front and thrust her microphone toward Li Yadong, winning the chance to ask the first question.
Li Yadong smiled, wearing the refined air of a perfect gentleman.
“Of course it’s true. You can watch the advertisement we released a few days ago. I am willing to stake the reputation of Li Pharmaceutical on this: the results shown in the advertisement are entirely genuine, without the slightest falsehood or exaggeration.”
“If they truly have effects that remarkable, they’ll be a blessing for women everywhere,” the reporter said excitedly, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Li Yadong smiled. “And not only for women. Our Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills are equally beneficial to men.”
The reporter smiled as well. “That’s true. Men have the right to pursue beauty too.”
“President Li, ever since its founding, Li Pharmaceutical has never developed particularly well. Its market share in Luo City has always fallen far behind the star companies of our pharmaceutical industry, Lin Pharmaceutical and Xie Pharmaceutical. How, then, did you suddenly manage to develop a blockbuster like the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills?”
Another reporter cut in with a question.
Li Yadong answered courteously, “Li Pharmaceutical has always worked hard to develop medicines that ordinary people genuinely need. Our success in creating the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills is inseparable from the painstaking efforts of our research team. Of course, the person who deserves the greatest credit is our own Divine Doctor Pan. It would be fair to say that without him, the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills could never have been brought to market.”
This was one of the conditions Pan Guangxing had agreed upon when he decided to cooperate with the Li family.
The profits from the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills would primarily belong to the Li family, while the fame would go to Divine Doctor Pan.
Each side was getting what it wanted.
“So it’s Divine Doctor Pan.”

“I never imagined Divine Doctor Pan was so capable. He actually managed to develop a miraculous pill like this.”
“If the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills really are as effective as Li Pharmaceutical claims, Divine Doctor Pan may surpass Divine Doctor Xu this time and become the foremost divine physician in Luo City.”
The spectators gathered below began discussing the matter among themselves.
Recently, a Divine Doctor Xiao had appeared in Luo City—someone who had cured the illness of Mayor Xia and earned the boundless admiration of even Divine Doctor Xu.
However, that news circulated only among Luo City’s upper circles.
Most ordinary citizens had never heard of it.
Divine Doctor Xu remained the foremost divine physician in their hearts.
“President Li, whether the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills are truly as miraculous as you claim can only be determined by the market. When do you plan to begin officially selling them?”
Another reporter directed the question at Li Yadong.
Li Yadong had been waiting for that question. Once again, he revealed a smile as warm and refreshing as a spring breeze.
“Three days from now, right here, our Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills will be offered for sale for the first time.”
“However, because the ingredients are extremely precious, production is currently limited. We will release only ten thousand bottles in the first round, at a price of 8,888 yuan per bottle. The price may be adjusted later.”
“There’s no need for everyone to worry. Li Pharmaceutical is currently doing everything possible to acquire the necessary ingredients, and we will gradually increase production of the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills. Those who are unable to purchase them three days from now may place an advance order.”
This was a marketing strategy Li Yadong and his team had settled on long ago.
In truth, after modifying the original formula, their current Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills contained no particularly precious ingredients at all.
They had already begun mass production.
Releasing ten thousand bottles in advance was merely a way to let some customers experience the pills’ astonishing effects firsthand.
Once the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills had established an impeccable reputation, they would launch them on a much broader scale.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
Today was the day the Qi-Gathering Beauty Pills, which had recently stirred heated discussion throughout the streets and alleys of Luo City, would officially go on sale.
