050 Eradicating Evil
Wallace’s words were extremely tempting.
Having a servant meant that when Roland was not in his room, someone could watch the house for him. It also meant having an assistant in a fight.
“Roland, my friend. Although the two of us brothers are both currently poor, I happen to have some very convenient conditions at my disposal! What a pity it would be if you didn’t make use of such a wonderful channel.”
Wallace said with a proud expression: “To tell you the truth, before following my young mistress, I once served under a certain Hell Earl. The demons under the Earl’s command frequently walk among mortals, and once they put on human skin, even angels cannot tell them apart. Furthermore, they are proficient in all kinds of magic and are much easier to communicate with. As long as you satisfy their demands, they can even teach you hell magic.”
In the end, he concluded: “As long as you are willing to make a deal with me, I guarantee I will get you a demon servant who is of high quality, fiercely loyal, loves to cling to you, and has an exceptionally stunning figure!”
Upon hearing about figures, the first things that came to Roland’s mind were Anna and his mentor’s ample bosoms.
“Ahem, figures and all that don’t really matter. It’s mainly that I wish to acquire more knowledge about Hell.”
Wallace was overjoyed and immediately wrote an IOU to Roland.
Having this IOU was enough. With Catherine around, Wallace wouldn't dare to renege on his debt.
The two completed their mutual trust authentication, and Roland cheerfully produced the Demon Stone and handed it to Wallace.
The moment Wallace took the Demon Stone, he let out a wild laugh, transforming into dancing flames that soared into the sky.
The flames surged upward like a tornado, radiating a terrifying wave of magical energy.
Roland’s face drained of color and he turned and ran. But before he could get far, the flames in the sky descended right in front of him.
That raging, blazing fire gradually condensed before Roland into an empty, dark black robe. The robe was entirely hollow inside, with a faint, flickering fire glowing within the hood, bearing a shape reminiscent of the Ringwraiths from The Lord of the Rings.
At this moment, the magical power emanating from Wallace had stabilized—the peak of the High Apprentice tier!
Roland’s expression immediately turned extremely grim.
He had originally thought that after obtaining the Demon Stone, Wallace would need some time before advancing. Who could have imagined that the moment this fellow touched the Demon Stone, his strength would take a massive leap forward.
The disparity in their strength was far too vast, and he had no idea what his good brother would do to him next.
After landing, Wallace asked Roland a question with a beaming smile. His voice was exceedingly deep, sounding just like a whisper straight from Hell.
“Roland, a batch of white wizards has just arrived at the academy. In this appearance of mine, I can’t exactly walk around the academy as I please... But if I were to put on a layer of human skin... Heh-heh-heh-heh.”
Roland’s face turned ashen.
“Why are you standing there frozen? Let’s go, Brother Roland! Let’s go find a piece of human skin!”
Wallace walked over, patted Roland on the shoulder, and looking toward the distant direction of the magic array, said: “I just saw someone vandalizing the magic array of the Black Abyss... Heh-heh, truly courting death.”
Roland felt a huge weight lift off his chest and secretly wiped away a cold sweat.
At that moment, Wallace noticed Roland’s somewhat pale complexion and easily guessed what was just going through Roland’s mind.
“You, oh you!” Wallace said in a tone of exasperated amusement: “You are far too paranoid! If I had any crooked intentions, I would have just taken the Demon Stone while you were sleeping, why bother wasting so many words with you?”
“Besides, I’ve spent so many years with the young mistress. If I weren’t trustworthy, why would she have entrusted me with the requisition certificates for the Abyss Flesh and the Demon Stone?”
With that, Wallace gazed once more toward the distant magic array and said: “Let’s go, that pack of fools is waiting for us over there.”
As they drew closer, Roland saw the appearance of the magic array of the Black Abyss.
It seemed to be a stone circle, a layout that reminded Roland of the megalithic structures of Easter Island.
Dozens of people surrounded the vicinity of the stone circle, and a few aristocratic banners were planted nearby. This was a group of young nobles out hunting who had accidentally stumbled into the area and discovered the site.
Among the contingent was a ‘Grand Wizard’ clad in magnificent robes. The young nobles were asking him for advice on how to shatter this ‘evil altar.’
Since this was a party that had come out for deer hunting, there were many hunters, common laborers, cooks, and servants among them. In addition, there were over a dozen guards and two intermediate knights serving as bodyguards for the nobles.
The laborers and guards were attempting to push over this ‘evil altar,’ but the stone circle was reinforced with magical protection, meaning no matter how many times more people they had or how much better their tools were, they would never be able to topple those massive boulders.
Using the method of ‘pushing over stones’ to destroy an ‘evil altar’? One really had to wonder whose bright idea that was.
At that moment, a hunter suddenly noticed two strangers appear in his vicinity.
He didn't know why the hounds hadn’t barked at these two individuals, but judging by their attire, they were neither locals nor nobles.
In such rural regions, bad guys and outsiders were usually treated as one and the same, so regardless of what they were here for, it didn't bode well.
The hunter immediately reported the situation to the lords.
This was how he put it—he had discovered two evil wizards.
Before long, that Grand Wizard arrived, flanked by two young nobles, two ostentatiously dressed noblewomen, and a retinue of knights and guards.
The Grand Wizard was exceedingly arrogant and said not a single word upon bringing his people over. The ones doing the talking were the two young nobles by his side.
—Upon approaching, they skipped any pleasantries and began chanting the titles of this esteemed Grand Wizard as if they were singing an opera.
Grand Magus, Royal Three-Ring White Robe Wizard, Grand Astrologer, Vice President of the Starlight Magic Association, High Alchemist, Court Wizard, and so on... All told, there were a dozen titles combined.
After finishing his name, they solemnly emphasized that they were here to eradicate evil.
Hearing all this, Roland wore a bizarre expression on his face. The strength of this group was actually not weak at all; one could even say it was quite formidable.
Wallace cast a sidelong glance at those people and uttered a single sentence: “Where did these wild wizards crawl out from? Piss off!”
The two noblewomen fluttered their fans and lowered their voices to say: “Vulgar outsiders, truly they are evil black wizards.”
The nobles and knights nearby were likewise filled with righteous fury:
—“Audacious! These two lowborn scoundrels dare to show disrespect to the Brilliance Magic Association. Even if they aren’t black wizards, they must certainly be demonic abominations!”
—“How dare you insult the White Robe Wizard Wallace! According to the kingdom’s laws, that is a capital offense!”
Wallace? This guy was also named Wallace?
The demon Wallace’s eyes lit up—what an absolute coincidence.
He had originally been somewhat unimpressed by this piece of human skin. But since they were fated to cross paths like this... Heh-heh.
If you are told to piss off and refuse to leave, then you can all stay here permanently!
Roland sensed the murderous intent radiating from Wallace and tugged at his sleeve, motioning for him not to act rashly.
Wallace chuckled softly and said: “Roland, you are about to enter our Black Abyss Sect. You still know nothing about the elders within our school... Today, I will let you understand how we, the wizards of the Black Abyss, normally handle things.”
Roland’s expression stiffened slightly; the magical fluctuation emanating from that Grand Wizard was quite powerful—he was also at the peak of the High Apprentice tier!
Those knights and nobles might have appeared utterly ignorant and lacking in worldly experience, but their individual strengths were also quite impressive!
Coupled with the hundred-odd knight attendants and soldiers equipped with bows and crossbows surrounding them... This group genuinely possessed the strength to eradicate evil, and they were fully capable of dealing with a demon that wreaked havoc in a region.
