Chapter 10: The Training Plan
The next day, Shi Yu woke up feeling refreshed and invigorated. Soon after, the enticing aroma wafting from the kitchen drew him in; Aunt Sun Lan had already prepared breakfast for the siblings.
Sun Lan was in her forties but maintained an elegant figure. Though fine crow’s feet graced the corners of her eyes, they only enhanced her mature beauty rather than detract from it.
“Xiao Yu, come have breakfast,” she called softly, her voice carrying the gentle cadence of the Jiangnan region.
“Alright,” Shi Yu replied cheerfully.
He lifted a bowl of rice noodles and picked up a scallion pancake, savoring the flavors with relish.
Sun Lan watched him eat with a warm smile; to her, Shi Yu was already like her own child.
Of all the people pleased by Shi Yu’s recent evaluation results, none were happier than Sun Lan.
The night before, she had been on duty at the hospital. When her phone lit up with a message from Shi Yu, the usually composed and dignified woman leapt up from her seat in excitement.
As she read the message, a smile spread across her face, but tears welled at the corners of her eyes. “Sister... Xiao Yu has truly grown up and become outstanding.”
Sun Lan had raised the two children alone. The hardships and challenges she endured were hers alone to bear, yet she never revealed them outwardly.
Shi Yu finished his rice noodles with a satisfied slurp, then licked the inside of the bowl clean.
“Oh, Aunt Lan, did you try the energy drink I left for you last night?” Shi Yu patted his slightly rounded belly and asked.
“Yes, I did. It tasted great, and I slept especially well afterward,” she replied with a smile. “I feel especially energetic this morning.”
“That’s the school’s reward,” Shi Yu winked before grabbing his backpack. “I’m heading out now.”
Compared to his younger sister Bai Yue, Shi Yu left home a little earlier—around 6:20 a.m.
As usual, he ran toward the rising sun, and after about twenty minutes, he arrived at Yali High School.
At this hour, the campus was still quiet.
Shi Yu first headed to the school’s martial arts hall, where he diligently practiced the eleventh basic set of the universal martial arts exercises without a trace of slackening.
Although his physique had already improved significantly, he remained earnest and meticulous.
This foundational martial arts routine was one of the essential courses promoted by the Daxia Empire.
Divided into three stages corresponding to elementary, middle, and high school, it served to strengthen the body and lay a solid foundation before students embarked on formal spiritual cultivation.
At seventeen, with their minds and bodies basically mature, students could truly begin their cultivation journey.
...
That day, the remaining classes of the second year continued their spiritual evaluations, which lasted until the afternoon.
However, unlike the sensation caused by Shi Yu’s evaluation the previous day, no explosive news emerged this time.
---
On the fifth floor of the administrative building, the leadership of Yali High School—about a dozen members—gathered for a meeting.
“The results of this year’s second-year spiritual evaluations are in,” said Dean Yu Guochuan, addressing the large screen in the conference room.
“Excluding three students on sick leave, a total of 526 students were assessed.”
“Level 5: 192 students.”
“Level 6: 312 students.”
“Level 7: 19 students.”
“Level 8: 2 students.”
“Level 12: 1 student!”
Yu Guochuan scanned the room, his voice rising with enthusiasm. “This class has achieved the highest average level our school has seen in nearly a decade!”
“Next year’s college entrance exam promises to be a triumphant comeback, restoring Yali’s esteemed reputation!”
“Notably, the highest spiritual level was attained by Shi Yu!”
At his words, the screen displayed a close-up of Shi Yu’s student ID photo.
He was handsome, with a high nose bridge and deep, bright eyes full of youthful vitality and charm.
Following this was a series of his background details, capturing everyone’s attention in the room.
In truth, this meeting was primarily convened to discuss Shi Yu; other topics were merely secondary.
“In this spiritual evaluation, Shi Yu not only demonstrated a high-level spirit but also exhibited the extremely rare phenomenon of golden light radiating from his eyes.”
“According to school regulations, we will provide Shi Yu with comprehensive support.”
“This includes, but is not limited to, top-tier sect cultivation techniques, one-on-one mentorship, a private martial arts training room, and rehabilitation therapy.”
“Furthermore, Shi Yu will receive the school’s first-class scholarship amounting to 100,000 yuan.”
“We have also submitted applications to both the Yuhua District Education Bureau and the Xingcheng City Education Bureau.”
“We hope that the city and district authorities will offer corresponding support.”
Yu Guochuan looked toward Principal Zhu, seated at the head of the table, nodding slightly. “Next year, our goal for the college entrance exam is to achieve the highest average score in Xingcheng City and rank first in Nanhu Province.”
“On a national scale, we will strive to secure a place on the Heavenly Ranking List!”
Everyone present nodded in agreement without dissent.
“Additionally, according to feedback from Shi Yu’s homeroom teacher, Lin Zhenfeng, Shi Yu wishes to continue using the Tiangong Model 800 Spiritual Chamber.”
“I personally agree in principle.”
“However, the Tiangong Model 800 is reserved for faculty use only, and we have just two units. Even for our staff, their usage is already stretched thin.”
---
“If we increase the number of users, the allocation for faculty will inevitably be affected.”
“Therefore, we need to brainstorm and establish relevant regulations.”
Yu Guochuan finished speaking and sat down.
In fact, these matters had been discussed beforehand by Yu Guochuan, Principal Zhu, and Vice Principal Song Yunwei.
Generally, small meetings decide major issues, while larger meetings handle minor ones.
The truly important decisions had already been agreed upon privately; the formal meeting was just a formality.
For most of the support plan for Shi Yu’s cultivation, over ninety percent posed no issues because they complied with school regulations and were executed through official channels.
But the use of the spiritual chambers was a different matter.
Unless one’s martial cultivation reached the extraordinary realm or the Outer Shell Grandmaster level, the spiritual chamber was essential to assist in cultivating and consolidating spiritual levels and realms.
At Yali High School, aside from Principal Zhu and Vice Principal Song who had reached the extraordinary realm, everyone else—including Yu Guochuan himself—remained in the mortal realm’s Tongqiao stage.
This meant that if Shi Yu were to use a spiritual chamber, it would directly impact the interests of others, cutting into their own share.
For a long moment, the room fell silent as everyone awaited a volunteer to speak up.
Seeing the situation, Yu Guochuan, Principal Zhu, and Vice Principal Song exchanged glances.
They had anticipated this.
At that moment, Vice Principal Song Yunwei cleared her throat, drawing the room’s attention.
She spoke slowly, “This matter has already been discussed between Principal Zhu and me.”
“I also understand the impact this will have on everyone.”
“Therefore, I specifically consulted Shi Yu’s homeroom teacher, Lin Zhenfeng.”
Song Yunwei paused, her tone tinged with emotion. “Old Lin told me that if the school truly faces difficulties, he can give up his own usage quota—that is, one hour per week—and allow Shi Yu to use it entirely.”
“What?!”
“Old Lin would actually do such a thing...”
At her words, everyone in the conference room was deeply moved.
Lin Zhenfeng’s sacrifice meant that his spiritual cultivation progress would slow dramatically over the entire coming year.
The path of martial arts is one of no progress, only regression.
Moreover, Lin Zhenfeng was not young, and the window to break into the extraordinary realm was gradually closing.
To give up an entire year now might mean he would never become a Grandmaster of the extraordinary realm.
