Chapter 41: Hear Me Say Thank You
"Is there any way to resolve this?" Seeing Pei Yanlin grow anxious, Bai Jingcheng patted his shoulder to calm him down.
"Well, accumulating merit. The more merit I have, the less frequently I'll have bad luck. Besides, I'm very powerful now; I can sense danger in advance and avoid it. So even when bad luck strikes, it's just minor trouble—completely zero threat to my life, so there's no need to be this nervous."
Bai Qianzhou smiled at them and looked out the window.
If she told them about the time when she was a child, going out to catch fish only for her master to find her already "lying dead" in the river water; or when she was learning to cook and the kitchen spiraled out of control with soaring flames; or when she was gnawing on a chicken leg and choked on the bone, getting dragged down into the netherworld several times—wouldn't that scare them to death?
However, there were perks too. After going to the netherworld a few times, she had built good relationships with the judges and ghost guards there. Later on, when they saw her, they grew used to it, stopped dragging her back to the netherworld, and would just give a wave of their hands to send her right back into her body.
"Doesn't merit just mean doing good deeds? Don't worry, little sister, from now on, your second brother will do good deeds in your name every day. I will definitely dispel your ill-fated destiny."
Pei Yanlin gazed intently at Bai Qianzhou, his tone full of solemnity and determination.
Seeing him looking so serious, Bai Qianzhou couldn't bear to crush his spirit, so she could only offer an awkward smile.
*Let me say thank you~~*
Her master and three senior brothers all possessed extraordinary abilities; if this bad-luck destiny were so easy to resolve, she wouldn't have had to suffer sixteen years of bad luck, would she?
Furthermore, resolving her ill-fated destiny required more than just merit—it also required snatching back the fortune and destiny that rightfully belonged to her.
Once she took her fortune and destiny back, someone else would be the one experiencing bad luck.
As for her, she was already used to having bad luck, so it didn't matter.
However, certain people who had stolen her destiny and enjoyed over a decade of smooth sailing might suddenly find themselves facing a streak of bad luck. She wondered if they would be able to take it.
At the mere thought of this, Bai Qianzhou's mood inexplicably brightened.
"Where are the two of you heading next? I'll drive you there." Bai Jingcheng figured he had no way of resolving these mystical matters himself, so he decided to change the subject first.
Once he had some free time, he would ask the people at the Special Case Department whether such a thing as bad luck could be fixed.
"We're going to Pei Yanlin's apartment," Bai Qianzhou said calmly after a moment's thought.
"Why go there? Aren't we going straight home?" Pei Yanlin looked at Bai Qianzhou in confusion.
"Aren't you going to look for those pinhole cameras? If you're not going to look for them, then let's go home." Bai Qianzhou shrugged indifferently.
Anyway, the stalker was spying on Pei Yanlin, not her, so she wasn't in a hurry at all.
"Go, go, go, we definitely have to go!"
"Pinhole cameras?" Bai Jingcheng turned his head to look at them.
Pei Yanlin aggrievedly recounted the sequence of events. Bai Jingcheng sighed; he didn't understand the entertainment industry and chose not to comment.
However, from his perspective, this was already an illegal act. If left unaddressed, it would be like releasing a tiger back into the mountains.
Upon arriving at Pei Yanlin's apartment, Bai Jingcheng didn't leave immediately, instead following them upstairs.
Then, the two brothers watched as Bai Qianzhou scurried around the apartment on her short little legs. In no time at all, six or seven pinhole cameras were placed before them.
"You found all of them?" Pei Yanlin stared blankly for a long while before recovering his voice.
"Yeah, they're all right here." Bai Qianzhou lazily settled onto the sofa.
Pei Yanlin stared at the cameras, completely dumbfounded. He truly hadn't expected that so many pinhole cameras were hidden in his apartment.
