Chapter 20: A Three-Way Shura Field (Part II)
“Then why is that?” Lin Yifeng stubbornly demanded an answer. Without his usual pretense, he lost some of his fragility and gained a stronger, more assertive presence, but the sense of abandonment he felt only deepened.
Qiao Xin shivered inwardly, sensing something seriously wrong with him, and quickly waved her hand.
“Be normal! You should know your own condition. Besides, I’m not even of age yet, so marriage isn’t something I’m considering.”
“Then will you consider it when you’re an adult?” Lin Yifeng lowered his head, like a withered leaf blown by the wind, exuding a profound melancholy.
“I only care about what’s in front of me right now, and your most important task is to recover!” Qiao Xin said, then pointed toward Hua Qinmo, “He’s like you, also a patient.”
“Xiangxiang is mine!” Hua Qinmo objected, immediately hugging Qiao Xin tightly.
Without hesitation, Qiao Xin pushed him away and pressed her hand against his face.
“You said you’d behave!”
She activated the protective shield that blocked their energies; Hua Qinmo instantly knelt on the ground. “I’ll behave!”
He wanted his Xiangxiang back!
Qiao Xin’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably as she deactivated the shield.
One hundred affection points, unlimited use—what a bargain!
Hua Qinmo quickly clung to her leg. Qiao Xin couldn’t be bothered to argue and immediately turned the shield back on.
After several exchanges, Hua Qinmo finally understood the safe distance and, somewhat resentfully, used vines to wrap around her ankle, acting like a loyal dog that followed her everywhere.
Because Lin Yifeng had helped Qiao Xin before, he always knew what she intended to do and immediately swirled around her like a gust of wind when the autumn season’s ingredients arrived.
Qiao Xin thought he was efficient and didn’t mind the help, but Hua Qinmo grew anxious.
Reluctantly, Qiao Xin let him do some work as well.
Lei Miaomiao was thrashing her short legs in her brother’s arms, grabbing his hair in frustration.
“Brother, get moving! Everyone knows to help Sister, so why are you just standing there?”
Lei Wuxie: …
His sister was not only taking his food but also demanding he work hard?
He, a respected major general, how degrading!
“Oh, brother, can’t you be more proactive?” Lei Miaomiao was about to lose her patience.
“Stay put, or no nutrient drinks tonight!” Lei Wuxie resorted to his trump card.
Lei Miaomiao instantly wilted like a frostbitten eggplant.
She huffed angrily, deciding she wouldn’t be friends with her brother anymore.
Having a sister was better!
Qiao Xin was busy and couldn’t pay much attention. Autumn Shaohua had arranged for nine sets of machines to be delivered, complete with trays, solving the cutlery problem.
Lin Yifeng and Hua Qinmo, with their wind and vine abilities, immediately monopolized the machines. With no one else helping, Qiao Xin kicked one in frustration.
“You don’t need to interfere with the cooking! Let people choose for themselves!”
Lin Yifeng was genuinely frustrated, but Hua Qinmo caught her foot with a flower, looking obedient, which made Lin Yifeng grit his teeth.
He had finally found a nutritionist who could save lives—how could he give up?
So, the two of them, taking advantage of Qiao Xin’s lack of abilities, secretly jabbed each other with their powers.
Qiao Xin might lack powers, but she wasn’t blind. At first, she ignored it, but as they grew more excessive and even wasted ingredients, she punched one of them.
Although the damage was zero, the two rivals finally settled down.
The patrol team members coming to select meals could finally choose delicious food in peace!
One was an S-class wind user, and the other an SSS-class wood user—they really felt the pressure!
Old Wei and his researchers rushed out after enjoying the flower feast. Usually only interested in research instruments, they were now fascinated by Qiao Xin’s machines.
“Little girl, do you have more of these machines?”
Old Wei was pushed forward by the researchers, his face a little embarrassed.
They usually survived on nutrient drinks, and now they were considering competing with the military for these machines...
“I just want to buy some for setup,” Qiao Xin said brightly. “How many do you need? One machine for side dishes, one for ingredients, and one for preparation make a set.”
“Twenty sets!” Old Wei waved his hand.
He thought it best to leave some space for the institute’s nutritionists.
“Alright, but each preparation machine can only make ten servings at a time. I have the cooking tutorials and need to send them to you.” Qiao Xin offered her light-brain.
Old Wei tapped it and, with her help, received the tutorials.
After reading, Old Wei was at a loss.
“Little girl, is this method really reliable?”
Researchers knew a thing or two about nutritionists; her chaotic one-pot style wasn’t exactly professional.
“It works. Uncle Qiu can vouch for me,” Qiao Xin confidently called on Autumn Shaohua.
“Could we borrow the kitchen for a trial?” Old Wei was uneasy and wanted someone to test it.
“Big uncle, Old Wei needs to use the kitchen!” Qiao Xin didn’t answer herself but called out to Xiao Linfeng directly.
Xiao Linfeng hurried in with the others, feeling for the first time that their yard was a bit small.
Lin Yifeng and Hua Qinmo prepared the ingredients and seasonings, standing on either side like human balloons.
Qiao Xin thought they could easily serve as living balloons.
Lei Miaomiao finally had the chance to boss Lei Wuxie around, secretly pointing at the things she liked and asking him to help prepare them. Her face radiated pride in her brother, but no one understood.
Qiao Xin reminded her not to eat too much, warning about indigestion at night.
Lei Miaomiao immediately acted coquettishly, asking to be held, flapping her limbs energetically, forcing Lei Wuxie to support Qiao Xin.
Qiao Xin felt like she’d touched a hot iron, appreciating how Lei Wuxie seemed cold on the outside but warm at heart.
“Thank you.”
“Yaya is just too lively,” Lei Wuxie replied casually, withdrawing his hand, though his heart pounded like a drum.
The slender girl’s delicate skin, even through her clothes, was still palpable to him.
A new, enchanting feeling washed over him, causing him to clench his fists tightly.
As a major general, whether in the military or at public events, many women pursued him.
But even though those women were also slender and delicate, he never felt this kind of enchantment, only annoyance.
Even when rescuing others, he used his mech, avoiding any physical contact.
Military doctors had examined him several times and confirmed he had no strange aversions, labeling him a “vegetarian,” which his comrades mocked for years.
Now, if they dared to laugh again, he would have a reason to retort!
It wasn’t that he avoided women; the right one just hadn’t appeared yet.
But now she had appeared, and he couldn’t have her...
That thought made him unconsciously glance at Lei Miaomiao, who kept pushing him toward Qiao Xin. Could it be intentional?
“Yaya likes Sister~”
“Sister likes Yaya too~”
Lei Miaomiao rubbed her face against Qiao Xin’s, and Qiao Xin returned the gesture on her forehead. The harmony between the big and small left Lei Wuxie thinking maybe he had a chance.
Then he looked at Lin Yifeng and Hua Qinmo glaring fiercely at him and smirked disdainfully.
These two—one sick, one crazy—what right did they have to compete with him?
