Chapter 16: Reconciliation with the Twins
“Host,” little i was about to say something else, but Qiao Xin cut in immediately.
“Do you still remember our goal? Only the favorability points matter! With enough favorability, what in the store can’t we buy? We can’t lose the big picture over petty things!”
Little i: That sounds about right...
Finally, with her mind at ease, Qiao Xin smirked to herself.
With her countless hours of watching dramas, countering manipulative tactics was a piece of cake.
Simply denying wouldn’t work; she had to steer it to think about something else!
“Sweetheart, why are you up so early?” Xiao Linshuang asked, applying eye masks as she spoke.
Qiao Zhenxing poured two glasses of water, one for himself and one for his wife, but his gaze was fixed on the food Qiao Xin had prepared.
He was genuinely curious how her world could make such strange ingredients taste so delicious!
“I slept well last night. Mom, Dad, help yourselves to whatever you want,” Qiao Xin said as she packed food for Lei Miaomiao and Lin Yifeng.
One was a child, the other concerned her parents—both had to be appeased.
However, once Lei Wuxie arrived, he could be taught to prepare semi-finished meals, so she wouldn’t have to come over every day.
Xiao Linshuang and Qiao Zhenxing each tried some, then took what they liked to eat.
They had separated from the Qiao family and had many matters to handle; Qiao Xin didn’t really need their help.
They also needed to find a place to live. Staying with the Xiao family wasn’t very comfortable.
The rest of the Xiao family hadn’t returned yet, and when they did, conflicts were inevitable; better to move out.
Xiao Muxuan and Xiao Muyu, the two brothers, were awakened by hunger.
Although the nutritional fluid had been improved, the aroma of Qiao Xin’s cooking last night kept them from drinking much. Waking up starving this morning, they took a sip but still sensed that tempting smell.
Planning to eat out, they smelled the familiar fragrance as soon as they went downstairs, and their eyes fixed intently on the kitchen.
With only a nanny robot and no family nutritionist at home, it was easy to guess who was cooking.
“Brother, how about we try some?” Xiao Muyu thought, “She may be useless, but if the food’s really good, an apology wouldn’t hurt.”
Many nutritionists were ordinary people; those with special abilities looked down on the profession.
Xiao Muxuan bit his lip. “Let’s see.”
Xiao Linshuang and her husband saw the brothers but pretended not to notice.
The brothers awkwardly greeted, “Second Aunt, Second Uncle,” then stood there, unsure whether to advance or retreat.
Although the couple were elders and not petty, they couldn’t give them a friendly face either. Looking at Qiao Xin, she smiled.
“Cousins, feel free to take whatever you like.”
Earning favorability points—who wouldn’t want that?
But if they dared eat without giving favorability points, next time they better not eat at all!
Investments like this can’t be lost twice.
Xiao Muyu immediately reached out, eyeing everything; Xiao Muxuan looked awkward and quietly said, “Sorry, we were wrong yesterday.”
Qiao Xin already received favorability points from Xiao Muyu and beamed with joy.
“Cousin, you admit your mistake. I forgive you.”
Xiao Muxuan’s eyes brightened instantly but he felt even guiltier.
They weren’t snobs; they were simply envious and jealous of how much this cousin was favored. Finally having a chance to tease her, they couldn’t resist.
However, that teasing got them scolded by their uncle and lectured by their parents for an hour...
Getting scolded for tattling—how could the brothers not feel wronged?
They thought the spoiled cousin would have a bad temper, but she forgave them so easily. Suddenly, they felt terrible, while she seemed so kind—they deserved to be punished!
“Cousin, we’re the useless ones! You’re my goddess! I’ve never eaten anything so delicious! How did you make such wonderful flavors from such simple ingredients?”
Xiao Muyu was more direct, first scolding himself, then showering praise.
Qiao Xin watched him chew and said to Xiao Muxuan, “Let’s eat first.”
Words were never as effective as favorability points!
Seeing them reconcile, Xiao Linshuang and her husband smiled and left the kitchen.
Friends and family should get along if they can; if not, no need to force it.
If someone is willing to change, you can’t hold a grudge.
They were young—making mistakes and correcting them was part of growing up.
Seeing that she wasn’t dismissive, Xiao Muxuan hesitantly tasted the food, then couldn’t stop and began to dig in.
Qiao Xin’s smile grew wider as she gained favorability points.
Indeed, kindness that is rewarded is the most satisfying.
Forget about selfless kindness—it’s overrated!
Lei Wuxie’s call came through; she answered and saw him standing outside with Lei Miaomiao.
She carried the packed food outside, but Lei Wuxie immediately handed Lei Miaomiao into her arms.
“Miss Qiao, sorry to trouble you today,” Lei Wuxie quickly explained. He had an urgent mission and needed to leave Lei Miaomiao with her.
Qiao Xin didn’t have to guess—it was definitely Lei Miaomiao’s idea. That little rascal hated staying home alone.
“Have you eaten? Here, take this to tide you over,” Qiao Xin handed the packed food to Lei Wuxie.
“Thanks,” Lei Wuxie said without even reminding Lei Miaomiao and turned to leave.
Lei Miaomiao sighed; her brother was truly hopeless!
Qiao Xin pinched her cheek and explained with a smile, “Brother’s mission is more important.”
“Mmm~ I’m glad I have you as my sister!” Lei Miaomiao instantly hugged her neck and cuddled close.
Lin Yifeng appeared like a ghost. “Xin Xin, I’m hungry~”
Qiao Xin and Lei Miaomiao both shuddered and glared at him.
“Could you make some noise? You scared us!”
“You bad-mouthed brother, you’re annoying!”
Lin Yifeng gave Qiao Xin a pitiful look. As for calling him a brat—he disliked that too!
“This is yours, packed up. Eat it at home!” Qiao Xin pulled out his portion, not planning to let him in.
Today she had to go out!
Well, with Lei Miaomiao around, it seemed she couldn’t leave...
“Cousin... boohoo... my parents are monsters! They stole my food...” He Qing ran out nearby. The He couple awkwardly got into their flying car and fled without a word.
“Just buy ingredients and cook again. What’s the big deal?” Qiao Xin couldn’t understand.
He Qing was distraught. “But they didn’t give me any money!”
Qiao Xin: Ahem, well, there’s nothing she can do about that.
Lin Yifeng immediately shoved his food into He Qing’s hands. “Don’t cry, you’re ugly when you do.”
Then he looked at Qiao Xin. “Xin Xin, I’m hungry~”
Qiao Xin smiled brightly and took out another packed portion. “Here you go. Be good and go home now~”
Lin Yifeng: ...
He Qing looked at this and that, then grabbed his portion and ran home.
“Cousin, when I have money, I’ll ask you to cook again!”
Qiao Xin watched Lin Yifeng, who looked back helplessly three times as he trudged home.
Xiao Linshuang and her husband were also about to leave. Qiao Xin offered them her flying car, but they hurriedly declined.
“Sweetheart, that car is too flashy. You keep it yourself.”
