Chapter 2: G Creatures
Li Changsheng did not hesitate to inject the reagent into his thigh.
As the liquid entered his body, it was as if an invisible force swept through him. Every cell underwent a transformation; he could sense the tissues and organs inside him changing in some wondrous way. This metamorphosis continued the entire morning, until he felt as though every cell brimmed with boundless power.
At noon, suppressing the excitement in his heart, Li Changsheng stepped out of his tent. Now, his vision stretched farther, his hearing was sharper, and his sense of smell keener. At a mere thought, energy surged through his body like a rising tide. As he casually stretched, crisp popping sounds like beans frying echoed from his joints.
He picked up a steel bar he used as a weapon. With only a bit of force, the solid metal twisted easily in his grip, bending into various shapes. Planting his feet, he leapt lightly into the air—soaring a full three or four meters high.
A smile spread across Li Changsheng’s face. It was clear that not only his five senses but also his strength, constitution, and agility had all improved dramatically.
He lifted his shirt. Where once a slight paunch had been, well-defined muscles now rippled beneath his skin. Not only his abdomen—every muscle on his body had been optimized, exuding a powerful beauty. Evidently, the reagent had enhanced his physique as well.
But the capabilities of a G-organism went beyond this. He recalled how, in the game, G-organisms were impervious to bullets. Instantly, he grabbed a small knife, aimed at his arm, and slashed. Blood seeped from the narrow cut, but in the blink of an eye, the wound closed and healed before his eyes.
Excitement shone on Li Changsheng’s face. In this apocalypse, he finally had the power to protect himself.
Suddenly, a wave of intense hunger churned in his stomach.
He hurriedly rummaged through his supplies, gathering everything together. Grabbing bread and instant food, he wolfed it all down. Only after consuming more than ten pounds of food did the gnawing hunger subside.
He stared at the remnants left on the table, stunned. All the supplies he’d painstakingly gathered were nearly gone! The appetite was astonishing!
Li Changsheng’s expression darkened, but then he sighed and let it go. Opportunity always comes with risk. Now, even if he faced mutant zombies, he need not be afraid. He was confident he could search Atlanta for more supplies.
But then a thought struck him. The city’s resources would eventually be depleted; farming and hunting would be necessary. Yet, he couldn’t always do these things himself.
Gazing down at the bustling camp below, an idea sparked in his mind. With his abilities, he could easily establish a survivor base.
...
Over a hundred meters away in the grassy field, a group was cooking over a fire. Amy was adding wood to the flames, her face clouded with worry. Andrea approached and asked, “Amy, what’s on your mind?”
Amy bit her lip. “There’s less and less food in camp, and people are starting to complain.”
Andrea’s expression darkened. “It’s that bastard Ed, isn’t it? Damn him—he’s lazy and greedy, doesn’t help with anything, and still complains about others!”
Amy shook her head and sighed. “It’s just that we’re women—so all we can do is wash clothes and cook...”
Right then, a voice rang out from the camp, irritated and loud.
“Damn it, this again?” Ed stared at the pot of bread porridge with disgust, flicked away his cigarette, and snarled, “I’m going to ask that Chinese guy for supplies. I saw he’s got plenty stashed. Damn it, can’t that yellow-skinned monkey be a little generous for once?”
Andrea stood abruptly, glanced over, and exclaimed, “Damn, it’s Ed. He’s going to cause trouble for that Asian kid!”
Amy gasped, “Oh no, that guy can’t stand up to Ed. Where are Shawn and Lori? Isn’t anyone going to stop him?”
“They must be out collecting mushrooms. Let’s follow and see what happens!”
...
Outside his tent, Li Changsheng was testing his abilities. Suddenly, a commotion rose from the mountain path to his right. A burly, middle-aged man with rolls of fat swaggered toward him, trailed by four others—Amy, Andrea, Ed’s wife Carol, and Jim the mechanic.
Ed, cigarette dangling from his mouth, marched up to Li Changsheng. “Listen, yellow-skinned monkey, if you want to stay here, you need to share your supplies!”
Li Changsheng raised an eyebrow and replied, “And what if I refuse?”
Ed brandished his fist threateningly. “Kid, this is our camp. We protect you, so you owe us your share of supplies! You’d better cooperate, or you’ll regret it!”
“Protect me?” Li Changsheng arched an eyebrow. “Do I need you? Who do you think you are?”
In the past, Li Changsheng might have tried to outwit him or played along. But now, having transformed into his G1 form, dealing with ordinary people was as effortless as crushing an ant.
Ed’s face flushed with rage. The last time he’d confronted Li Changsheng, the latter had refused politely. Today, it was as though he’d become a different man—daring even to insult him. “Damn you, you’ll regret angering a bull!”
With that, Ed swung his fist toward Li Changsheng.
“Ed, no!” Carol cried, rushing to grab his arm.
But Ed, blinded by anger, shook her off and slapped her hard. Carol was thrown aside, clutching her cheek in silence.
Jim wanted to intervene, but Ed glared at him. “You want a beating too?”
Jim lowered his head and dared not move.
Unable to stand it any longer, Amy shoved Ed and shielded Carol. “Ed, what are you doing?! Hitting Carol and stealing supplies? How much trouble will you bring to the camp?”
Ed shot her a venomous glare. “I’m gathering supplies for the camp, which is more than you useless bitch ever do! If you try to stop me, you’re asking for a beating too!”
He raised his hand, ready to strike Amy.
At that moment, Li Changsheng intervened. He moved so swiftly that Ed didn’t have time to react before his raised left hand was seized.
“Coward, your issue is with me—why bully these women?” Li Changsheng’s voice was cold.
Ed hadn’t expected this Asian kid to defy him. He glared at Li Changsheng. “You little punk, die!”
With that, he threw a punch, his arm thicker than Li Changsheng’s thigh, fist whistling through the air toward Li Changsheng’s head. If it landed, it would certainly draw blood.
Seeing Ed’s fury, the others quickly stepped aside, afraid of getting caught in the fray.
Amy cried out, “Be careful!”
